There's nothing "augmented reality" about those skii google. That's simply a HUD (heads up display), that's NOT augmented reality. For it to truly qualify as an augmented reality device, it would need to do something like overlay a line on the skii path (sort of like racing video games do with the racing line), or visual outline/highlight your friend when they are in your field of view, or something like that.
Fantastic idea, but....I would like to see the box located in the a jacket pocket and have a cord running to the goggles. Id be worried the goggles could come off in an emergency situation like avalanche and loose the location of the wearer.
Hi Steve, thanks! The box is light weight and grips the helmet well, and location is actually measured by the GPS in your phone. However, for an avalanche situation where precise location is needed, REKKIE Goggles are NOT a substitute for a beacon (and probe, shovel, and proper training). We tried running the cord down to your jacket pocket in some early prototypes, and honestly it was kind of annoying vs the strap mounted enclosure - kind of like airpods vs old wired earbuds.
From what I’ve read, the previous reply is correct. The only time that doesn’t work is if say you have the goggle and the other doesn’t, you need service to transmit location
@AdditiveManufacturing The real-time speed readout is perfect 👍 It'd be awesome if somehow other monitoring apps could be projected in the HUD as well. The biggest thing would be PWM percentage, which tells us when we're about to eat pavement if it hits 100% lol

Nice work! The video does a great job letting all the players tell the story.
I'm shocked MJF doesn't get more publicity than it does. Incredible 3D printed quality.
God this would be amazing in the military.

You are completely right
homeboy should have just worn a watch lol. Also MJF is the absolute King!!!

probably more of a HUD than augmented reality
Love this show! I need to find a place like this near tampa that I can apply at. Would love to work in this industry
Since I subscribed to this channel, I seem to get more interesting ads. Ads about machines and processes, not food delivery or gambling.
So you have to be in service for this to work? What about back country?
There’s a built-in 915 MHz radio, so if 2 people have REKKIE Goggles in the backcountry, they can still see each other’s live location

Thank you the show 👍
These videos are great!
How much for this?
That information will be available on the Rekkie website: rekkie.com/
Thanks for watching!
I'm interested in this for electric unicycle riders 😎
Wish we knew some electric unicycle lingo to reply cleverly, but we're sure they could function on the slopes and the streets.

This is super cool. it's really awesome to see science progressing in light of the political hellfire we are in.
