Master Your Boxing Stance | Beginner Boxers Power and Balance

  • Beginner boxers often lose the correct angle of their front foot. Your boing stance is critical to power and balance. A key part of your boxing stance is to ensure that your front foot remains at 45 degrees. The rear foot can vary in the angle, but your front foot must remain at 45 degrees.
    A common fault with beginner boxers is to lose that 45 degree angle. This beginner boxer mistake will hamper your balance off your back hand and will restrict the power you can generate in your lead hand hook.
    Make sure the front foot of your boxing stance stays at 45 degrees.
    Cheers
    Fran

    Head on back foot back heel on floor not lifted up may help. Trainer Tom Yankello explains this a lot better and more detail then I.

      I Remember too Tom explains how Rocky Marciano goes that but maybe this style is for the ko hitters like Foreman too.

    Plus, the front foot at a 45 allows you to use the knee to block a groin kick.

    Don't worry coach. Even in mma O'Malley, one of the best boxers stands bladed with his foot in the 45 position alot of the time and hes the champ!

    That can be easily fixed if we put the front foot a little to the left so the hips on the back foot open up easier without ever losing balance 😅

    Interesting. I heard one coach say that it should be pointed forward because that's what you do when you throw a ball. 😐

    • @myboxingcoach
      @myboxingcoach  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Dunno, I suppose it depends on whether you want to throw more than one ball. I reckon as a boxer you want to be able to throw ball after ball after ball 👍

    Hey coach, I get thr problem with balance often. Is there a drill that is best for working on it?

    how long dose it take to perfect ur stance and be able to move left and right while throwing punches'

  • @Disinfo321
    @Disinfo321 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    My coach has drilled the same into me and say the feet has to be facing inward to push off in or out, but I’ve noticed bivol fights with his feet facing forward and is one of the best in the world at going in and out in the pros.
    Is it to do with it being easier to pivot and throw power left hooks too?

    Been boxing for nearly a decade and I personally like a slight step to the left w/ my lead foot to put my right hand in direct line with them making it less visible, while giving me balance while i get my head off the center line & also this slight left step w/ my lead foot allows more torque for a follow up left hook/uppercut or I can just pivot and change the angle. Thoughts on this?

    • @myboxingcoach
      @myboxingcoach  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, all true what you say pal. That lead foot step across, for me it's the power that it adds. I reckon you add 20% extra power on that shot. And as you say, puts you in a great position for the follow ups. As a beginner though, 10 years ago, you started with doing the basics well and keeping that going 👍
