2 years ago I might have had a different opinion but I bought a Garberg for $50. I love the Garberg yes it needed to be fine tuned. I just can’t get behind Kabar and Becker. Why sell something then charge you to make it functional. I know you can use it but it $30 for scales then $40+ for sheath. Esee prices are high because of a warranty I don’t see any use for. If a knife is built right it doesn’t need a warranty. The fact is if my knife breaks I don’t want it. I sure don’t want another of the same knife.
My favorite and most used knife is BPS adventurer.
This small size knife are the true survival knife. Big choppers are just marketing. Everything you need to survive in the wilderness can be done with a knife this size. Anything bigger makes it harder to carve things you need.

I agree lol these companies will have to step up their game or go out of business, people aren't going to have the money to spend like they used to in the near future. Even the better knife brands may not make it thru the upcoming depression, I feel our lives could drastically change at any time....I guess you could say our gov doesn't exactly instill confidence in the future.

I'm impressed you have the carbide sharpener for a scraper. One has a permanent spot in my pack for ferro rods. It really is an outstanding scraper. I'd never use it to sharpen my knife, but it will throw sparks and gobs of burning metal off a ferro rod.
I've considered the BK16, but if I get one, I know I would want to mod the hell out of it, which would at least double the cost. I did that to my BK&7 and I ended up with a $200 BK7. It really is a damn nice BK7 now though. 😄

I'm with ya I wouldn't sharpen with it either unless I had absolutely no choice, have you tried high speed steel mill blanks as scrapers yet? I've made some (which I've used in vids) and they make a cheap rod act like a premium one, best thing I've ever used for scraping.

That mora will destroy any knife in the field. An extremly capable and effective bushcraft and all around knife.

      @alphaomegasurvivalsupply6548  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I dunno about destroy that would depend on category, but overall yes it is definitely an awesome knife that is way more suited for bushcraft. I do really like it i just wish I wouldn't have waited so long to get it hahaha

The Bushcraft Black is a better blade design.. I think the handle on the Garberg is excellent though it's indestructible. The relief edge is to small for how thick the blade is. If Mora gave it more belly and a hair more edge height it would be perfect.
I gave mine a full convex and thinned out the grind bring up the wall gives you a steeper angle for the edge.

I just picked up a BK-16, and so far I'm not all that impressed with it to be honest. The stock plastic scales and shape is "meh" at best....it's certainly not uncomfortable, the knife just has an overall cheap feeling to it, and the grip is too skinny (and I don't have large hands either). Gonna give the Knife Connection G10 scales a try and see if those improve it at all, but I should've just bought an ESEE 4 and called it a day. Also, as with my other Kabars, the factory edge is underwhelming. Not sure why I keep buying Kabars, but this will likely be my last one. I love my ESEE's though, my favorite being my ESEE 3 in S35VN w/ TKC scales.....fits me like a glove and love the overall size.

Great video 💯 I’m in between on an esee 4 and a garberg

Thank you, on that imo it would depend on what your wanting it for, it was just straight bushcraft go with the garberg. Now if you were looking for more edc the esee 4 might serve you better, if you intend on using the esee for bushcraft you may have grind the spine to get that 90° so really just depends on your intentions but both are great knives. The carbon steel mora uses is formulated very close to the 1095 which esee uses so basically the same performance on both.

I used to be a huge Garberg fan but as I've grown and learned I've found the blade geometry to be odd.
The grind is too thick and the relief edge is not high enough. I prefer a Saber and high flat grind with convex.
My favorite user right now is my Brakimo by Tops and the Becker BK18 Harpoon... The Brakimo is imho a true survival bushcraft knife, the edge is wicked. The BK18 is also very slicey, I love my Becker Harpoon 😉
I highly recommend the Brakimo ...
Also take a look at the Cudeman Sanabria and Nomad both excellent blades. Joker also makes a great knife their Ember and Nordico is beautiful for the money.

Id agree with that lol, and ive been looking at a joker nomad for a while but my preferred retailer didn't have it in stock. So I was forced to order something else that has intrigued me for a bit, and might be surprising cuz I haven't seen much bout it lol.
