- WINNER!! of Justin Sandercoe's "most innovative use of a guitar" competition. :)
To answer some of the more commonly asked questions:
The music was written specially for the film by Loic Desjardins. It doesn't have a name that I know of and it's not available anywhere besides this film at the moment.
I used a Panasonic NV-GS280 camcorder, Stop Motion Pro, Photoshop and Sony Vegas to make the film. And some Lego. My other Lego films were shot with a Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 webcam - a pretty cheap alternative.
It's all stop motion - 15 frames per second, so around 1800 frames altogether. I filmed it over about three days, then spent about a day fiddling about editing and masking and stuff.
The bouncing ball effect is explained here: • Masking and bowling
Don't forget you can catch Justin's guitar lessons at www.justinguita... - it's all free and there's plenty of videos starting right from the basics.
I think that's about it. Thanks for all the comments so far. Keep them coming :)
Nostalgia.... Remember this, this is my childhood
This is really nostalgic for me. I remember being 10. I watched it like 2009 or something:)
Same

Wait... This was uploaded almost 9 years ago now!?!? I remember watching this when I was 6!!!! Holy frickin shizer dude!!
Bro, you're 21 now. Niceee
It amazes me that someone could make such a quality video like this in 2007.
I watched this as a kid 🥺🥺
I remember watching this on the old TH-cam
Me 5oo
Just timed myself - 4 seconds (60 frames) took one hour.
Chris Salt On the Contrary, It took one day to film just three seconds of Wallace and Gromit The Curse of the Were Rabbit
Great animation
This is the first stop motion i had ever seen on youtube, almost 6 years ago. Thank you for making this, for it inspired me to use legos, get my own lego sets, and become a brickfilmer, Thank you for this wonderful work of art.
This was the first video I ever saw on youtube! :)
Good memories!
ThinkCleverAndSmart yeah same here. I remember when I used to search up LEGO INDIANA JONES and stuff when I was younger way back in 2008:)
:)
This is officially a classic.
This was awesome! Some brickfilmers have good animation, but they usually lack in storytelling. You got both.
btw, how did you get the minifigs to walk on a non-lego surface?
Wow you know, this is one of those movies you can watch over and over. Im amazed at how everything gels and fits. The music, the expressions, the movement.. Who would have thought you could get so much character and soul out of legos. Great work.
First ever video I saw and it was 7 years ago
Man, after all of these years, I have finally found it! I remember seeing this when I was like 6 or 7 and now being in college, the nostalgia is awesome!
I can watch this over and over. So clever and well done. :D
This whole time, this whole DAMN time, their names on the scorecard were references to The Big Lebowski.
This video is a treasure!
WHOA! That is the smoothest stop motion I have ever seen! Grest Job!
1:02 I remember that my mom scolded me the first time I watched this because of that single scene.
Gerry Cinnamon - Lullaby always makes me think of the music in this video, especially during the whistling at the end
Omg, the nostalgia
I miss the times i watched this for multiple time when i was a child
I remember watching this when I was 5! This brings me back memories!
I was a kid when I watched this. Nostalgic as hell
Wow I remember what I used to watch when dad passed me his iPhone
by uploading this u r sentenced to life.
This really takes me back
Realy awsome, I like the attention to detail such as the people walking in the background of the bowling ally
I can't get enough of watching LEGO videos
I wasnt even born when this got uploaded
Jeremiah Smith Interesting
I love it! You must have a lot of bricks for you to build that bowling alley and congrats on winning the contest.
dude, it's so smooth! you know? love it dude.
If there was ever a LEGO series with like 3/4 minute episodes you should be the main animator!
My good childhood memories of this video
Helper by name and helper by nature. Good call. I'll bear it in mind for next time.
The ending made me lol. And this is one of the smoothest Lego stop-motion videos I've seen in a LONG time. You put some serious effort into this. Sorry that someone copied it...
one of the best stop motion ive seen
awesome dude that was soooooo awesome it must have taken a lot a lot of work with all of those shots
The bowling score sheet is priceless! I laughed so hard. Too funny.
I thought the musical score would have been by that heart-throb Sandercoe, though....
I've just watched it yet. The super animation and film set I've ever seen.
The nostalgia is strong
This is a certified hood classic.
Just as Justin's Lessons...Excellent!!!
Great work!
one of the best stopmotion films i've ever seen before!
thats the best stop motion I've ever seen
Fantastic! I've seen plenty of good Lego animations but this is by far the best. Really slick. Well done!
I love the guitar at the end!
Ah, memories...
REALLY well done :) Clean stop-motion, great editing...I don't think there are any negatives here!
That was the best made lego video (without spex FX like on the lego site) i have ever seen!!! well done (y)
Fantastic! I've plenty of good Lego animations but this is by far the best. Really slick. Well done!
The bowling ball is a lego piece with a hole in it that fits a minifig's hand. I used blu-tak to keep the scorecards steady in the guy's hand.
That was awesome! Great story and nearly flawless animation! I also liked the cinematography, something that is typically lacking in Lego animations.
Nostalgia hit me once agains
That was the best stop motion in the world.
dude that was awesome. it must have taken forever
So much nostalgia...
That's awesome bro. You should do one with a huge war going on, like WWII. Like with infantry men coming off of the landing boat and getting picked off by snipers and stuff. Would be cool!
I didn't see that ending coming, that was great. great animation too.
You did a really great job with this! Professionally lit, well-made. I love it!! Stopmotions are really tedious but fun to make. You just have to slow your life down to a crawl to concentrate on it :) Kudos!
That's what I thought he was going to do, which would've resembled wood planks like a real lane.
Greatest fking animation ive seen all day.
Hey, could you make a video in the future showing your lighting setup, your Lego collection, PC, and stuff. Or could you do a Q&A because it seems there is a lot of unanswered questions in the comments. Just a suggestion.
All of that I can say:
That is GREAT!
I'm working on one now. Ready in a week or two, hopefully.
Classic Video
Wow that was awsome! and I know how hard it is to get stop motion just right and that was so amazing! 5 star!!!!
Classic!
i loved the shot at 1:33 to 1:38 where he walks into focus. not one of the most technical shots in it but i like things like that :) very good film!
What a classic
that animation is heaps smooth man!!
AWESOME! Especially the twist @ the end! U deserve it 4 being so clever! Congrats!
I LOVE THAT! I love the bowling alley idea!
That was tight at the end with the guitar and all.
AWESOME!!! you are so great at making an ad...
this is very cool! i love it! the best quality in a lego movie i've ever seen! wow!
dude thats real pro and really well thought out!!
you animated this video very well 5/5
Not sure but I believe that is a fairly common lego piece. it is a technic part that has the cross hole on one end (which you cleverly never see in the vid) that goes on a technic axel
this is the best lego movie in the world
OMG THIS IS WELL COOL must have taken 4ever!
lol. i was wondering what guitar lessons had to do with it, and then the end came along. wonderful! i make stop motions, but none of them r that clever. great stuff!
hinges and tiles - you can see front and back at various points in the film
its a canditate for a contest:
Most creative use of a gitar
and it won!
The ball has a hole in it. Read "About this video" for a link to how the bouncing was done.
an amazing video, the stop motion is just fantastic. really well done.
This video was the reason I started editing!
nice lego recording :)
Awesome, Favored.
haha love it!♥-♥-♥Brittani aka Rhonda :)
I randomly found this video - loved it - now I will subscribe!!!
I never will make a video like this because its too complex for me.
Very very nice, good video.
Nostalgia
Wow, this is incredible!
This is fantastic, great job
i have another idea. he could've just changed the peices to the flat kind of lego peices without the studs on them. but the guitar was beast anyway! LOL
Yep, using a guitar is always a good alternative when there aren't enough plate pieces in the world.
cool! i watched masking & bowling so it looks like you put LOADSof time and effort in this
i builded the millenium falcon once , i loved making star wars ships and some sweet castles and inventing storylines when i was a kid :P
