    I just started a knitting class on making socks and our instructor is teaching this method. She directed us to this video. We spent 2 hours in class trying to get this right and I've only had to watch the video twice to get it.
    Once you learn the technique it is fantastic!
    Thank you for posting this video!

    Love this vid-explained well, and slow enough for a beginner knitter to understand. I wish they would all put that extra effort into it. Thanks a million.

    Great tutorial. Thanks so much. I'm a novice knitter working on a cover for my kindle. Your instructions were so very clear for Judy's Magic Cast-On. Also, not having worked in the round before, I appreciated that you took the tutorial through 2 full rounds. I'll be back for more lessons!

    This is easily the most frustrating and agonizing thing I have ever done in knitting. Your video is amazing, however. Casting on the stitches, with your mantra in mind, becomes simple and fun. Knitting the first needle, however...there are not enough obscenities in the world to describe it. I must be casting on too tightly, because I often lose the stitches trying to knit them, leading me to just start over and over and over again until it's right. Thank you for the video, however, as it DOES help!!

  • @knitpurlhunter
    @knitpurlhunter  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @dedel43 Absolutely. The easiest way to do this is to knit a portion of one toe and then place it on a holder. Start the 2nd toe to the same point and then put both socks on the one needle.

  • @knitpurlhunter
    @knitpurlhunter  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @pinkpianogal1 You can absolutely do 2 at a time. I will be filming a video on this soon. I knit all my socks using the magic loop technique with one long circular needle.

  • @knitpurlhunter
    @knitpurlhunter  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @dankimforde You could absolutely use this method for two hats. For European (continental style) knitting, the only difference is that you will hold your working yarn in your left hand - everything else is the same.

  • @snowstarswan
    @snowstarswan 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    this is the best tutorial I've seen - I finally managed to do it! Now I am knitting the baby pea pod.

  • @JennyLory
    @JennyLory 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @dankimforde -for eastern european knitting, (different from continental western knitting) it would be the opposite- CO as directed, then knit the first stitches through the front loop. Then when you get to the 2nd half of the round (where the narrrator says to knit through the back loop to prevent twisted stitches) you will just knit as you are (and I) are used to, SImply always knit into the 'open leg' of the stitch and you will be fine. ANd so on, only the first rnd will be like that.

    I have a bit of trouble at 3:25. I twist my yarn but as I begin to work the other row, this end piece doesn't want to stay. I try to work around it, but that side has a long loopy gap I can't seem to close. Other than that trouble I'm having this is an EXCELLENT video!! Thank you for your kind help and easy explanations! :)

    @knitpurlhunter  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @dwink1993 Try tightening the stitch after the kfb - it is this stitch that tightens up the kfb. You could use a make one instead of the kfb. Try my Make One video. Hope this helps!

  • @knitpurlhunter
    @knitpurlhunter  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Small holes are created with a kfb. If you find that yours are too large, try a make one in its place after the first stitch and before the last stitch on each needle.

  • @TracieFrank

    So just to be clear: if using this technique to cast on for toe-up socks, you're doing a sort of "backwards" version of magic loop for the entire sock (pulling the front needle long instead of the back needle)?

    • @H1X2N4

      Sandra P. Increases done by knitting front to back creates a certain look or slant to the stitch direction. M1 is an invisible increase with no slant.
