You're adorable. I really appreciate that you get going with instructions right away. You are articulate. You don't have a lot of verbal "crutches", which can really get distracting in the course of a 30+ minute video/narrative. Subscribed. Wish we were neighbors. I would love to have a knitting buddy!
I'm right there with you in that I hate to have holes where I do increases. I still use the bar increase by working into the back of the new bar so that the new stitch is twisted. This is a very pretty increase with no holes at all.

At first i thought this was going to be another hard to understand sock tutorial, but out of the last 50 or so videos I've watched, this is the first one that i loved and actually sort of grasped. I'm feeling confident enough with your video to watch again. My daughter wants socks and I'm determined to learn.
Thank you so much for a very thorough video.

My grandma showed me exact your toe-up-method 46 years ago. I still knit socks like granny taught me. I love this type of starting socks. I use five needles instead of a circular knitting needle.
I am German and I live in Germany.
    Love and peace from Karin

I cannot express how ridiculously happy it makes me that you've made this tutorial series. 😊😊😊 I've knitted socks over the years but always toe up and using the wrapped short row method for the toe and heel, but since I also have a very high arch, it makes for a less than perfect fit. I've looked for a toe up, 'heel and gusset' method for years but never found one that worked. I'm in heaven n now!! A thousand thank yous 💖💖💖

OH MY GOODNESS THIS IS SO EASY TO FOLLOW!!! YAY!!! I'm only on row 5 of the toe and I am excited..lol. I'm new-ish to knitting and I've always wanted to make socks. I made some hats and done cabling (which I really really love) and made one pair short socks from the cuff down.
I just wanted to say THANK YOU!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

This is now my FAVORITE way to knit socks thanks to you! I have now made at least 20 pairs of socks and they have turned out so great. And the cast-on you use is so easy and works especially great for socks.

Great video and I loved the way that you make one by going into the stitch below. I did see an interesting technique for knitting in the front and back to avoid those funny bars. Instead of knitting in the back of the stitch, just slip it onto the right needle. So you knit the front as usual, then go into the back of the same stitch and slip it and your knitted stitch to your right needle. An extra stitch and no bump! Have fun with it. Thank you so much for sharing your technique!

I love this video. Thankyou. I too am ADD and this video is great for me. I'm loving the toe up. I didn't think I would like to knit socks, because of 4 needles and heel etc- they just seemed daunting,.But I just wiped off a toe up in bulky wool to use as a boot sock. I'm on the second one as I watch this video. I am so thrilled. This video will take my next pair to the next level. See you later on Ravelry.

I’ve been knitting socks for years and I just increased my own way with just doing a yarn over after the third stitch and the same on the other end . I yarn over towards the left and it’s a bit tricky when you go to knit that yarn over but it works and there are no holes however it does make the toe square. It still looks nice and fits nice but I wanted to learn how to make a round toe and you have given me the answer. Thank you.

One of the better tutorials. Why? I use Judy’s cast-on but didn’t understand it as well as I do after watching your cast-on. I enjoy the knit to fit, no pattern, method but haven’t used gauge or a tape measure. Better planing and using gauge means less frogging or guessing. Last but not least now I understand the lifted increase better, left leaning vs right leaning. I just happen to have sock no my needles 👍

Quick note about your magic loop cast-on: If you wrap both needles circling bottom to top (instead of outside to in), then neither row will start with twisted stitches and it still holds together nicely.

OMG! Viel Spass.

Very helpful information, thank you. I watched a video regarding Judy's Magic cast on awhile back and Apparently the direction the yarn wraps the needles will determine if you do or don't have to knit in the back loop. I'm sorry I can't recall the specific video I gleaned that information from I'm m still learning this cast on method and have yet to finish a pair of knit socks. I've always tried top down in DPNs and pull them out because of ladders. I've since learned from Kate Atherly who says the ladders tend to go away after washing! Wow.
Now I'm interested in learning to knit toe up socks on a variety of needles becuse I prefer how the toes finish out, compared to top down socks. I also don't care for seaming knitting.

My mom showed me this method of increasing when I was a kid, and I had forgotten. It has been too long from when I knitted last. Now, with this shutdown, I need to knit something, and I think I will try socks !

Thank you for this great detailed sock video! I've been knitting on & off for a long time, but haven't made socks this way, so it is super helpful. I'm going to try it on as I knit, to make sure it fits well. I see that there are two more parts, which will be great to watch for the heel.

Loved this tutorial, very well done! I decided to learn how to knit, after teaching myself crochet (also using youtube haha) a couple years ago. I touched base with knitting as a child, but forgot a lot of what I had learned (unfortunately)... Your video was definitely a breath of fresh air, I had been looking for a good tutorial for knitted socks all week! I am a bit of a perfectionist, so I truly appreciate the tips on making everything look good and even! This is gonna be perfect for me to get started :)

You are the best! Thought I would try to teach this ole dog some new tricks during this pandemic! I’ve knitted Christmas stockings & thought I would try socks. You mentioned in this tutorial about printable instructions, I think, but woe is me I’m unable to find the link. Would you tell me again where I might find it? Many, many thanks & please keep teaching. YOU ARE A BORN TEACHER! Thank You.
