Wow! You made a knife out of essentially cast iron(I see why you used a core of 1070 in it), it looks great and you showed how. To that I say 'tank you good sir'.
That's exactly what they were! If you look at the samples of that time, they were a little rough, often with blackened blades, simple knives whose production could easily be established in a warring country. He was equally good at cutting food and sentries. Thanks, among other things, to such knives, our great-grandfathers crushed the Nazis! Thank you for the video, wonderful knife!
I really like these unique items which you make, and the way you take something, sometimes with relevance to the end product, and re-purpose it. Like turning a piece of tank track into a knife.
По учебнику при снятие часового нужно держать лезвием вверх и наносить удар снизу-вверх. Перерезать горло часовому тоже удобно. Для этого у этого ножа обратная гарда. Есть учебный материал по этому ножу времен Великой отечественной войны.
It would be interesting to see the strength test. As the knife leaves scratches on the glass. Cutting the rope. Rossection of plastic bottles with water.
That knife is awesome, but I'm concerned about it's structural integrity, considering how close to the edge the pin hole is, how there's only a single pin, and how short and thin the tang is. Still, looks great, and seems to cut well.
Very nice work! I jus think if the guard not supposed to be rotate 180 °, the lower part oriented to de pomel, and the upper part oriented to the tip of the blade.
Здорово! Но на рукоять лучше использовать карельскую берёзу, или кожу, так было бы ближе к правде. А ещё советские бойцы часто модернизировали свои ножи НР-40, делая наборные рукояти из плексигласа.
Really nice knife, only thing I'm afraid is the tang - it's really short and looks weak moreover the pin hole is weaking it even more IMHO. Why don't You weld a fragment of threaded bar for example and make the nut buttcap or something ?
if my memory of the tank track is correct then this knife would possibly made from a high manganese steel (manganese contents above 10%). It should be both very tough and wear resistance.
Great make, and great vid. Always a pleasure watching. One question: Why have you stopped using the beveling jig you made way back? In all the recent videos you are doing the bevel free hand.

Once I didn't do it and I had serious eye burns that night, couldn't sleep. After that I always shut them!

Very very cool video. I have bee following you for some time and of all your builds repairs etc, this has to be the coolest.
Nice black knife. It reminds me of a Mora knife from the 80's esp wrt. the handle construction though.
Very nice, but I think your guard is upside down?
Looks to me you are going to hurt your hand when stabbing something...
All in all: well done...!
Ed.
Most soviet combat knives were actually made that way, but good observation
Looks like most NR-40 knives have the guard this way around!
That’s how lots of russian knives are.

This knife is first of all a killing device, In this case guard is installed correctly

Blackbeard is very difficult to beat, and maybe impossible!

I really want to know what is that White poudre ??

Really nice work, as always. My favorite kind of blade ! I have the same camo t-shirt from Solognac btw 😋
why dont you use a strope as finish for sharpness?
Aus den Bolzen zwischen den Kettengliexern kann man auch sehr hochwertige Klingen machen.
Can you do a video on sharpening
Why do u have chains on the anvil?
nice work
Beautiful job as usual, tanks! :)

What is the name of that magnetic object you use triangle shaped? Where is it available to buy?
Нож разведчика, классно выглядит.
What’s that flakey salt that you sprinkle on the hot metal looks tasty
What name of white powder?
Why do you guys don't use the angle grinder guard???

Mi Mancavano i video di forgiatura.
I missed the forging videos.
❤
Everything looks amazing but you hole in the tang is off set and is probably going to be a point of failure. I love how the knife turned out overall.
let me ask: where u find or made that sharpener??????
7:17-7:19 it looked like delamination happened. How did you ensure that the sandwich was well fluxed and forge-welded?
Nice job fantastic hands to make a great work. Cheers
As always good work.
PS:Me too like that type of protective gloves😁 But you need a few brand new pairs😅
Great job!
Damn cool.
Is that thing you're using as a jig/guide a giant magnet inside a handle?
How much would you charge for a wild west looking knife? Just curious
A kézvédőt fordítva raktad fel ! Amúgy gratula, szépen megcsináltad ! :)
How much do u want for it
Awesome stuff! I'm wondering if the harsh light from the solder can damage your camera.
The protection of the handle is turned upside down, with the lower part in the fingers
You mean the guard?
Amazing!
