These days tracks like this would definitely be DLC - but in the 90s luckily that wasn't a thing, and all you needed were a few codes or a gameshark code to get even more out of great games.
Ahhhh. DLC can do one!

Those five code tracks were super interesting and Space Race was the best one of the bunch for sure.
I've never seen the full version of Empire City's expert variant though. It'd be interesting to give it a try on emulator or something.
We showed the best bits - it's a glitchy mess to be honest!
It would be so cool if developers these days just threw in unfinished levels into the files for people to discover.

It is very unfortunate that you can't race with opponents in the six secret tracks of the game. You can't race for records in the six secret tracks either. Very disappointing.
They were supposed to be test tracks so for the most part, the AI would've been broken completely

I remember this game having better graphics when I played on a Windows 98 PC probably.
Yes, because PS1 was potatoe in compaision with PC's even in that era. Especially if PC had Woodoo 3D accelerator card.
Change came with NFS6 - HP2 on PS2. That was better than PC version. But graphical domination of PS2 over PC ended right away with next NFS - Underground.

the pc version of empire city had a bug and the ai was aware of that. They used to crash at a specific spot and be teleported near the finish line and easily beat us. Is it present in the ps1 version as well? Is it even a known thing?
Interesting. I still play NFS3 on my retro PC and I've never experienced that bug.
@@Andros2709 it is really out of the way, you have to hit a certain wall at a certain angle above certain speeds, speeds that are usually not possible without a modded car or typing gofast. I still play nfs 3 on my retro pc too, it is so much fun.
it spawns you on a roof of something i guess, i personally never got it but i saw people get it back in the day. I might try to get it and record it but later :)
i think the map "Empire City" looks like the map "Zone Industrielle" fron NFS porsche Unleashed
what i'm trying to say is that the zone industrielle map from NFS5 was inspired by the Empire city map.

You may not be wrong here! EA Seattle was responsible for the first six NFS games. Miss that era.
Why is it just PS1 which had this content, but not the PC version? Only with mods.
Maybe because they feels more like test development tracks with no connection with the actual game.
empire city is an industrial area from porsche unleashed
NFS3 came out before Porsche Unleashed.
