    No fun when the key fob is dead nor is it safe in some cases. The manufacturer should be looking into this issue i feel. With Hyundai it is the transponder a code issue .

      It happened?? Did the kiss method work, or did you need to swap the fob battery?

    Have you tried to isolate to just one of your key fobs, (if you have the second one)? Also have the use of the remote connect option for a free period and the digital key option too. As a third backup, I add the digital key the wife’s phone. I use the digital key option off my phone quite a bit on my GH Limited Max. No issues with my one key fob, still awaiting my second.

      What do you mean by digital key? Unfortunately waiting on the second atm

      @@Erikzapp You can use your phone as the key fob. Please see the TH-cam video link from Steve Welch, my Toyota salesperson. My GH was the first one in Nashville. He explains the process. th-cam.com/video/vpwsAPYnMLc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Sc_ZMslJvwrT_kVI

      I have a 24 Grand Highlander Platinum and my digital key only starts my car. I can’t drive with it. Toyota won’t give me another fob because of the “chip issues”. I feel like I’m SOL if something happens to my fob!

      @@jesispears8129 Please remember that that there is two separate systems. One is Remote Connect which is used to remote start the vehicle and in some models remote start heat or a/c. The vehicle will turn off once you enter the vehicle, this is a safe feature so no one jumps in and takes off while you walk to your vehicle. The second system is the Digital Key which act like a key FOB on your cell phone. Download the digital key from the Toyota remote connect app. You can have your phone in your pocket and touch the door handles to unlock and the start your vehicle. Just like the key fob device, except you have to be next to the vehicle and touch the handles. No buttons to open or lock from a distance. I’ve been using the for a while and works just fine. If the Toyota app is on you cell phone and synced with it works great. Plenty of videos from Toyota on these two options. Or look up Steve Welch on TH-cam, his channel walks you through step by step. His is my Toyota salesman here in Nashville. I have GH Limited Max, first one in the Nashville area back on 30 June 2023. Let me know if this works for you. I’m still waiting on my second key fob, all most a year.

    If the Key FOB loses battery and dies you could lose the ability to use the brakes? No way! What if while driving your kid drops your Key FOB in a cup of water and it gets fried and dies... you're telling me the car loses its brake function? YEA RIGHT! What if you accidentally drop it out of the window while driving . Toyota didn't think of that?! Not a chance. I can't tell if you are serious or not with that. Not a chance in hell. I just bought one for my family vehicle and I can't imagine Toyota, in all the years using Key FOBs like this, didn't use their brain and think of that horrific flaw. Also, the digital Key FOB sounds great. I have to set mine up soon. I just got the car last weekend. I do love the video though and the information about the FOB dying. I am going to keep extra batteries in my glove box. Thanks for the info!

      Haha well I don’t know much about what powers auto tech, just that another viewer mentioned the worry about losing breaks while driving.
      As for the FOB, yes this was all legit. It happened to me a total of 3 times so far. Regardless of that though, since it’s a Toyota and a very sizable suv with good power even from the turbo, I still love the car and think it’s incredible value for what you get.

      @@Erikzapp I agree with you 100%. We love it so far. We put seat covers on it and they have really great accessories on amazon for center console storage and above the dashboard screen storage. Thanks again for the great video!

    Tell me you didn’t read the manual without telling me you didn’t read the manual. Starting a keyless car with a dead fob has been the same for 20 years. Manual also says to avoid serious deterioration to keep the key 1m away from another device with a magnetic field, and to avoid leaving the key near the car when not in use. Are you doing this? The key is supposed to have an auto battery save when not in use, but you can also set it in battery save mode manually if you’re not going to be driving for a while. I’m not sure what you’re going on about saying the brakes won’t work.

    • @Erikzapp
      @Erikzapp  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why is this a problem within 6 months of ownership and not with any of the 8-10 keyless go cars I’ve owned since 2007?
      Set a key in battery save mode? What?? I have never had to do that on any of my keyless go cars in my life all the way since my 07 keyless go Nissan Altima. There’s not excuse for the neglect of quality in regards to the fob issue I experienced.

    • @sinister184
      @sinister184 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Erikzapp Yeah, it shouldn’t do that under normal circumstances, but what are you doing about it besides complaining? It’s under warranty, go get a new key if you think yours is messed up, or let a tech educate you if you’re doing something that’s causing it to drain. The Highlander has a digital key also. Use that. You have options.

      @Erikzapp the kick sensor blows ass and so does the eye sensor bs 🙄
      They keep telling me ohhh don't worry, florida has lemon law. Yaaaa right cause you don't have to deal with all the bs such a scam response to get you to shush.
      Hope they pull their head out their ass and figure out how Key fobs work
