I’ve been a passenger in several accidents over the years, I definitely prefer being in a large solid vehicle, thank you for showing how thin the metal is, so crazy that they’d skimp in that area. Great video.
It’s not just about reducing costs - car manufacturers are also under pressure from governments to meet stricter fuel consumption standards. To achieve this, they use thinner metal sheets and lighter materials, which help reduce a vehicle's weight and improve fuel efficiency. However, to compensate for the thinner body panels, manufacturers focus on reinforcing the car’s main frame and structural integrity, making vehicles safer and stronger in case of an accident. As a result, although modern car bodies may appear thinner than before, they still provide sufficient protection in collisions.

Owned Toyotas for 25 years. Purchased my GH XLE in Aug 23. First Toyota I've ever regretted buying... Values are tanking and dealers won't accept in trade. The fix for this will be a compromise and will likely move it into a forced redesign and the end of Gen 1. Class actions to follow. Lawyers will benefit but consumers are screwed. Didn’t watch the video yet, but will this afternoon. If Toyota fixes the recalls, aren’t we essentially good to go? Not worried about trading values cause I’m gonna keep it for a very long time but definitely super upset about all this. Once they fix everything, isn’t it safe again? I am a dumb naïve car buyer.
This is wildly inaccurate. Values are not tanking. All you need to do is look at used car sales. There is no redesign planned. They already have a fix.

No problems? They have several recalls also.
I was thinking about CX-90, but we stayed with Toyota due to the extremely annoying Mazda's salesmen. We couldn't speak with them in a normal way. I liked the car though.
@@Bart-dg6qv lol! There weren’t any other sales people?
@@AviatorsGarage End discussion was with the main sales director or whatever function he had. They were all ridiculous in their behavior, nothing like that ever happened to me. Unpleasant and embarrassing at the same time. Like from comedy from the '80s.
Oh.. my big toe. My princess crown is too big.
To each their own! Great comments
What does that mean? Just curious.
I owned a grandhighlander for a year it felt so cheap and i hated the 4 cylinder so i trade it in and i bought an f150 i would buy a tundra if they still offered the 5,7 but they no longer have reliable v8
Interesting. I've checked with multiple Toyota dealers in several states and several non Toyota dealers. None will take mine in trade until the recall repairs have been completed.
I can’t trade mine in… recalls…
Thats weird ! I was a little worried they wont take it but no problems!!! I payed 46500 its an xle awd !! After a year ford offered 44k for it! So it wasnt bad!!
Get rid of it get a Kia!!! Or a Hyundai! or maybe an Atlas VW...
@@10cpaul unfortunately they are all too small…
@@AviatorsGarage VW Atlas has as much room as the Grand Highlander.
@@adidas333777 hey VW - if your watching! Send me and my family an Atlas! I’ll put out some real information about your car!
Yea I went right from the Toyota dealer to VW and found the front passenger room to be far superior in the atlas
The GH weighs very little...this is good.
Turbos have been used for years in Japan, Turbo engine life is just as long as non
The transmission is still an issue. What will happen? Also tell that to a new tundra owner. Those are V6 turbos and are failing left and right… disastrous
@@AviatorsGarage Made in Mexico I believe, its not the Turbos thats the issue, manufacturing process. The GH is made in the USA, recalls are unfortunate and I think compensation should be made. The Airbag issue requires them to drop the whole headliner....my NEW car will rattle forsure after that and theirs also a programing recall that's minor issue.
I'm starting to question how safe it is to drive. Not gonna end well.
That is probably the most logical outcome. Very good points. I’m pretty disappointed as well. Thank you for the comments!
Toyota has found a fix that they will begin to implement next month. No indication that the vehicle will have to be redesigned.
This is wildly inaccurate. Values are not tanking. All you need to do is look at used car sales. There is no redesign planned. They already have a fix.
Not going to worry over side curtain airbags. I love our grand highlander max hybrid. I'm very happy.
And I was complaining about my "21 Highlander Platinum whistle noises coming from the front hood (they fixed it after couple months). Those issues you are showing are overwhelming from the perspective of a person who buys Toyota only because of quality.
Yep it’s disappointing for sure
Seems like Toyota is sinking fast, my conclusion from your video
They are actually doing ok sales wise. Quite the opposite. I totally agree with your point though
My 2017 Highlander’s hood use to vibrate and service adjusted it to stop 🤷♂️.
It’s not possible to adjust on this model unfortunately
It looks to much like an EV for me. Odd looking grill, no exhaust pipes and slab sided.
I can see where you're coming from! The design definitely leans toward the modern look that’s popular with electric vehicles these days.
I think the tail pipes on the GH look silly they also hurt ground clearance.
I drove the landcruiser and the thing was very tinny. Toyota is now junk
@@EscapingTheBOYT it’s expensive as all heck and is way way smaller than the grand highlander.
I have only seen a couple of your videos, but it sounds like you hate Toyota! My GH gets 18 city and 23 highway. My 2011 V6 Camry got 17 city 25 highway. I love my GH because I don't worry about the airbags, my wife doesn't ever let me drive with the windows open. Allergies!
lol, no I love Toyota… just disappointed. Thanks for the comment. Go army!

The video I added above shows different, like the infotainment system changed but it could be a prototype. It matches more of the new Toyota highlanders mixed with land cruiser
Most new from the ground up vehicle will have recalls, it’s been a fact of the car world for my 60+ yrs.
TH-camrs LOL get a real job
Toyota has been having severe issues with all their new vehicles. It’s very un characteristic. Looks like you have too much time on your hands if you watch TH-cam with your “real job.” Thank you for helping my video in the algorithm lol.
Doesn't help with gas mileage when you have such a heavy car with a 4 banger , should have been a v6 with turbo & a ten speed trans ! Trump will be changing automotive polices with these meat heads green energy crap !!!
You make a great point about the engine choice and weight; it's definitely a balancing act when it comes to performance and fuel efficiency!
