Then you havnt heard the original Corsa GSi or Vectra 4x4 drive :P Both are pre 1995 cars, hard to find any these day or even original pictures of the stock cars. The normal 90´s Vectra´s with the 2.0i engine was crazy cars in themselves, the gearbox fitted with the 2.0L had very long gearing (manual was the norm in the EU back then), meaning you could rip 1st to 60km/h, 2nd up to 60mph / 100km/h and 4th went to 120mph / 200km/h :P I personally got to drive an Corsa 2.0i GSi, and im still emberressed i let the wheel slip for a moment and smashed the grill and cooler on a small tree xD
I'm glad I'm older now, my first car was a 205 Gti. 309 Gti 16v, Bx Gti 16v, Saxo VTS or AX GTI these were great cars too. Naturally aspirated engines, over 7000 rpm and above all light. Nice to see that the fun they bring never gets old
I have the somehow spiritual sucessor of this car... A 2018 Renault Sandero RS (not a Dacia in my country and the RS stands for Renault Sports) it has the same engine the F4R 2.0 16v but it doesn't rev to 7200 and it only has 150hp, and a really short 6 speed gearbox. Amazing to see how it would somehow perform at the Ring and priceless to see Mischa pulling a Brian O'Connor moment 'almost had you' to the BMW
I had a Clio 172 Ph1 in Titanium silver exactly like that. Great fun, they had a cable throttle unlike the later ones, really responsive engine so you appreciated the more direct control. As you can tell they sound amazing too. They’re brilliant cars, very close to a rental kart - not the fastest thing on earth but very easy and fun to drive at 10/10ths everywhere. Unfortunately the gearboxes are very weak though :(

Seeing this video makes me so nostalgic as i had to sell my clio 182 earlier this year before i had time to take it to the nurburgring as i always wished...
I don't usually comment, but I made sure to read all the comments to see if anyone comments on the throttle control. There was a legendary F1 driver who used a very unusual technique of throttle control and this video, somehow and discounting car differences, immediately reminded me of him. This one was fun!
I had the same issue trying to heel and toe in my 182, there are extended accelerator pedals available that allow you to use the side of your foot instead of trying to reach across with your heel, made a huge difference 👍
@@LDSMovieMaking I know the ph1 uses a cable, I meant the physical distance between the brake and accelerator pedals. The replacement pedals can be used on all 1*2 models to make heel and toe easier.

I've owned Renault Clio's and Citroen's, Buy a Strut Bar to stiffen the body, reduces the body flex massively on french cars and changes the handling :)

Would love to see the V6 Clio and VR6 Golf go head to head on the ring. Possibly not as fun as this one though due to the relatively short wheel base and extra weight.
The V6 Clio would be a handful due to the wheelbase as you’ve rightly said but I think a VR6 Golf would need some upgrades to keep with the Clio. But imagine the sound of both 🥰🥰🥰
@@Rroff2 Absolutley agree it just reminded me of a guy who said he'd have me around Mondello park in ireland in his mk3 Vr6. I was in a Dc2 integra R and just drove away into the distance but his car sounded so good.
@@Quattro_Joe both PH1 and PH2 Clio V6s have longer wheelbase than for example a Countach and PH2's wheelbase is only 3cm shorter than Gallardo's wheelbase, the problem is that the V6 has no steering lock, so if you're just 0.1s too late with correction then it's impossible to recover. There's a guy with a track built PH1 that attends most events on my local track, he's properly fast and I've never seen him spin out, so yeah, capable machine in right hands.
YEAAAH !!! A CLIO 2 RS ! I was asking for that in the 3 rs video thank you misha ! Try a 182, Renault sport really amped it up compared to the 172. If i can get my hands on a 206 RC i might go to the nurb in 2024, i'll gladly lend you the wheel !
I've got a Saxo VTS 120hp, an Honda CRX 1.6 16V 130 hp and a Clio RS 2 182 hp. My favorite engine is the CRX one. But 2.0 16 v from the Clio is really cool after 5000 rpm
the ph1 was the best looking one in my opinion, i had one, it was a bit of a shed, fast but terrifying , lift off oversteer changing between 3rd & 4th was bum clenching
The mk2 sport clios are very special, I feel like anyone who hasn't driven one is missing out a lot. Really changed my opinion on French cars, well French hot hatches anyway. Properly good fun, shame they're going up in value now relatively quickly and parts are getting harder to source, means they won't be viable cheap track cars for much longer.
What a fun car! Such a great drive. Speaking N/A hot hatches: I’d love to see you do a lap in an Astra OPC 1 with the naturally aspirated 2l engine. Unfortunately they are rare as hell.
We need more cars (atmospheric) like this especially french old cars like 306 gti6 or xsara vts, saxo vts, 106 gti etc 😏 i own a 106 gti with quite a lot of mods but i have a problem with my 406 v6 brembo brakes and i'm not in europe too i'm in reunion island
From the 3 french cars with the same engine ( 306, xsara, clio) my favorite is the Peugeot 306. But that track car price thing don't roll in Portugal, the Clios asking price is between 12k to 14k, never seen a xsara on sale and the 306 is rare and about 8k or 9k. Clio Williams 30k and the 3.0 V6 65k. Yeah affordable.
I had some Vredestein Sportrack 3 tires on an old Volvo a while back, while they're far from proper track semi-slicks, especially with the version I had that for some reason had designer thread as they said "design by Gigornio" or however you spelled that name, and somehow... the grip felt like it improved when it was wet, they were strange tires. And try poking Shmee if he'll bring his Clio V6 to the ring if he still has it. :P It's also fun to see more "normal" cars being driven hard, sure you ain't gonna set no lap record, and you'll be overtaken by faster cars, but it's still fun to see the potential as ya tackle corners. ( Not quite normal as it's not a 5 door 1.4 Clio or something, but still an obtainable car )
Pure mechanical fun, great sound, I was smiling most of the video :D Even if you'll be faster in a modern car on the track, it won't give you the same emotions. I don't plan on swapping my old 350Z, love it do death, even if a chipped Golf TDI can outrun it on a straight ;)))
Misha, try and get your hands on a v6 Peugeot 406 coupe. They're Fun GT cars and it'd be interestinf to see that on track! You don't see them ever either.

I can’t heel and toe so this problem doesn’t bother me as much 😂
This is very different from 182 electric throttle body as it has cable throttle body which can be adjusted right on top of throttle body under bonnet👌

My first car was a Clio RS and I learn to "drive" in the mountains of Reunion Island with it. What a fun car it was, but stock it was dangerous haha 😬
The things with all clio's chassis is so good then you almost don't need semi slick tyres to enjoy !

no problem with these. with little love they survive and look nice for very long. 2000 to 2007 were the best years for cars.
I don't know if it works for Clio Sport but I raised the throttle pedal in my Megane by straining the throttle cable at the throttle body.

i own a clio 3 gt it only has 130hp but the cornering is like a go go kart maybe to slow for the track but alot of fun on quiet backroads :)
