Rams fan here. Seeing how the people of Detroit talk about Stafford is a real testament to his character and gumption. I promise we Rams fans will treat him right, he clearly deserves it. And take care of Goff for us, he brought the Rams back to relevance and we will never forget it!
He truly does deserve it, but the number of Detroit Whine-ons fans that made him the scapegoat of the down times were shockingly, repulsively numerous, unfortunately. Hopefully the football fans in Los Angeles are more knowledgeable and sensible to be able to steer clear, and just watch with your own eyes the throws this guy makes numerous times every game, that maybe two or three other QBs can make.
The highlight of him making that throw against Miami on this highlight reel is an excellent example... Running left and throwing right against his body, side armed, to hit a receiver running right, about 3 inches out of the reach of the defender draped all over him for a touchdown. That's YOUR quarterback now, congrats.

I have been a lifelong Lions fan, and have seen all of Stafford's lousy plays too. The only thing about that is, like virtually every national media pundit, and almost everybody outside of the metro Detroit area that can view him objectively, we see infinitely more good and excellent plays than bad, probably the reason why he's a top 15 (statistically speaking) QB of all time. NO ONE attains that from being consistently lousy, and he still has another five years left.
Probably why he has humongously elevated the careers of guys like Burleson, Tate, Johnson (yes Johnson, no receiver goes to the Hall of Fame without great QB play), and Marvin. All these guys saw their careers take off immediately upon coming to the Lions. Tate being the best example, the guy who calls Stafford a better quarterback than Russell Wilson, or any he's played with... Average in Seattle, excellent in Detroit, almost non-existent since he left. And since leaving, he had Wentz and Jones, no slouches.
I just got through dealing with another one of your buddies, and in the end he even had to acknowledge Stafford as a fringe Hall of Famer, that after running through all the usual rigmarole you all use to try to discredit him.
Face it - QB may be the most important position, but football is a game with 52 players, and another 60+ personnel and coaches that determine the outcome of games. And as much as you would love to blame Stafford for the Lions mediocrity, it ain't happening.

As a lions fan, I shed some tears rewatching this tribute after the rams won the superbowl. Growing up watching Stafford play for the lions was such an honor, he never got the praise he deserved, was always overshadowed by Rodgers, Brady, Brees when he was on the lions(even though us lions fans knew he was on the same level as them). And today he finally showed everyone how lethal his arm is and finally won a well deserved superbowl ring. Thank you stafford for loving the city of Detriot you made us proud tonight.

That final drive against the cowboys leading up to the fake spike, was the greatest moment I’ve seen. Especially in a room full of cowboys fans talking crap all game long. What a great player and hopefully he wins it all with the Rams.

12 years I can’t believe it’s been 12 years. I was a sophomore in high school when we drafted him. Never gonna be the same without Stafford. He was our identity.

From the time I could care about my home team, the lions, Number 9 has been under center. I'm 20 years old now tearing up because no one has meant more to me as a sports fan, and as a lions fan than Mathew Stafford. He played with heart, grit, tenacity, and courage. I couldn't have asked for a more exciting player to watch growing up to make me love the game of football. Thank you, not goodbye number 9.
