My Pokémon Black Animated Nuzlocke Experience (Inspired by Jaiden Animations)

- Seeing as my craving for something to break me hadn't subsided, I decided to embark on another Hardcore Pokemon Nuzlocke Journey. Welcome all to my animated nuzlocke through the Unova region!
The rules are the following:
- No Legendary Pokemon
- No Overleveling
- No Items
- Game mode on Set (No switching per battle)
- When a Pokémon runs out of health, they are DEAD for GOOD
- You can only catch one Pokémon per new area and it must be the first Pokémon you encounter in that area!
- You must nickname all your Pokémon

Awesome video, man! Unova can be a really challenging game to go through with Hardcore rules, but you managed to push through everything it threw your way! The entire Pokémon League section was especially well done!

Totally recommend giving a nuzlocke a crack! They are an investment, but they feel amazing on completion.
I always knew a Black and White Nuzlocke would be hard to do with the back to back battles with N and Ghetsis. While you can at least use the PC in N's Castle to switch around your party of Pokemon, the fact that you have to fight N and Ghetsis back to back is very daunting. Granted, you are automatically healed between battles, but it's not easy to do for a Nuzlocke if you lose any Pokemon against N.
That's right. Because hard-core nuzlocke rules would indicate that you have to sacrifice pokemon who had died in the previous fight with N, in order to face Ghestis. It's incredibly punishing and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has fallen into that trap 😅

Zero's Pokémon Black Nuzlocke - It's Oshawott's time to shine!
Bianca and Cheren - No deaths, close to death
N (First time) - Water Gun just swept him.
Gym 1 (Cilan, since Zero picked Oshawott) - No deaths so far. 1st Badge obtained.
Cheren and N - Got swept
Gym 2 (Lenora) - This is where Sunny have her first Pokémon die... Lenora's Herdier landed a critical hit Take Down on Clawroline, killing her. Kirby the Dewott and Leongar the Watchog were shocked, so Kirby swiftly defeated the Herdier. Now this fight was a slugfest of using Confuse Ray, dodging Hypnosis, but Leongar defeated Lenora with the assist from Kirby. 2nd Badge obtained.
Gym 3 (Burgh) - No deaths. 3rd Badge obtained.
Bianca and Cheren got swept.
Gym 4 (Elesa) - Shanoa the Zebstrika with the Lightning Rod ability came in clutch, she basically swept this gym. 4th Badge obtained.
Gym 5 (Clay) - She decided to disable the level cap for Clay because Clay was difficult. Kirby the Samurott swept Clay. 5th Badge obtained.
Bianca - Swept
N - Sweep continues
Gym 6 (Skyla) - Skyla was easy. Shanoa swept her. 6th Badge obtained.
The cave entrance - Leongar got struck by a critical hit from a hiker's Boldore. He was struck by a Power Gem critical hit, which killed Leongar. Kirby, who had enough of the hiker, takes his anger out on the Boldore. Kirby quickly defeated him.
Gym 7 (Brycen) - The easiest, but she had to pivot into a team member. Other than that, it's a team effort. 7th Badge obtained.
Bianca - Near death when Emboar almost killed Alucard, but, it's not much of a big deal. The team helped.
Gym 8 (Drayden) - This one was a mess. Kirby missed Blizzard on Fraxure, but hit the second one. He proceeds to miss 3 consecutive Blizzards in a row on Druddigon before being switched by a Dragon Tail. Oh no. Snowy used Ice Beam, and Druddigon used Revenge (which doubles in power) But Snowy was able to get out of this mess. Elfilin defeated his Haxorus in two Return. Final badge obtained.
Cheren got swept, I got my remaining encounters, then we're ready for Victory Road.
Victory Road was challenging, but her team was not prepared for the Ace Trainer who has a Stoutland and Scolipede. Luckily, no one died, but oh my god.
We headed to the gates, and there it was. The Pokémon League. Here we go.
Shauntal was up first, Elfilin, Kirby and Shanoa swept this fight.
Caitlin was second, that we easily defeated with pivoting and surviving a Focus Blast.
Grimsley was a bit tougher due to Burning the Simisear missing Will-O-Wisp, and Elfilin unable to move by Attract, but Shanoa and Kirby made it through.
The final member, Marshal was much more tougher. Kirby had to eat a Bulldoze, and he defeated Throh easily. But next up was Sawk... Burning had to reduce his attack to safely switch. He missed and he used Stone Edge. I sighed as I switched into Elfilin, getting Intimidate off. After making Marshal use up all his Full Restores on Sawk, finally, Sawk goes down. Conkeldurr was next. Anyone with eyes is knowing this would happen. Burning fired off one more Will-O-Wisp to reduce his attack, and was killed by Hammer Arm in return. One more great member, down and out. Burning the Simisear had been with Sunny for so long, and held his weight on his own. Alucard the Swoobat, who was with us since Wellspring Cave, decided to defeat the Conkeldurr with Air Slash + Burn Damage. And with that, Alucard gets to survive. His last Pokémon was Mienshao, which Kirby survives a Jump Kick, and fires off a Torrent powered Surf, winning us the battle.
She gets her final Pokémon, then leaves N's Castle to level up Darmani the Darumaka.
She's setting the cap to Ghetsis's Hydregion so she can survive better.
She catches Reshiram and puts him in the PC Box.
N - Final Battle
A team effort was forged, as the team members held it's weight against N.
Ghetsis - True Final Battle
As Elfilin was stalling the battle with Cofagrigus, Elfilin outsmarted the foe and defeated Ghetsis's first Pokémon. Hydregion landed a critical hit Focus Blast to rub salt to the wound, Ghetsis had killed Snowy, her favorite member of the team. Kirby held on and used a Bug-Gem boosted Megahorn to completely one-shot Hydregion. Bouffalant nearly killed Elfilin, but I healed up and Bouffalant managed to knock itself out with Wild Charge. As Seismetoad came out, Kirby has to hit a Grass Knot. Elfilin had to switch in for Intimidate, and switch back to Kirby. It was a long a tedious battle, but it was bearable. Eelektross came out. Oh dear. Shanoa was my choice for switch in. Thrash, Crunch, defense dropped, Thrash, Crunch, it doesn't drop my defense, and Shanoa defeated the mighty Eelektross with Thrash.
His final Pokémon came out. Bisharp. Darmani used Fire Punch, and... the battle was over. We won.
As N was congratulating me, a overwhelming amount of guilt washes over me, so intense that it almost knocked me down.
Sunny: I don't... think I deserve this.
Rockman Zero: Back in N's Castle where Reshiram split me in two, how do I know I'm... me? What happened in the other timeline where I saw glimpses of my Pokémon parallel to this world. That was me too. Those things happen. Was this the victory I was destined to have? The world I'm living in now is how I want things to be, but the other Rockman Zero was me as I am equally her. Even if you think I deserve this victory, things don't work like that. Are there some things you can't escape, even if you do everything to alter it? I don't know the answer. I may be able to head home now and thank every Pokémon that put in so much work. All the hard work, blood, sacrifices we made. But I don't think I can accept this victory. I don't know what ending was meant for me. And I don't think I ever will.

Clawroline (Purrloin/Liepard) - Cause of Death - Lenora's Herdier landing a critical hit Take Down
Leongar (Patrat/Watchog) - Cause of Death - A Hiker's Boldore landing a critical hit on Power Gem (twice).
Burning (Pansear/Simisear) - Cause of Death - Conkeldurr's Hammer Arm after using Will-O-Wisp
Snowy (Vanilite/Vanillish/Vanilluxe) - Cause of Death - Critical Hit Focus Blast from Ghetsis's Hydregion.
MVPs - Elfilin (the survivor, the underdog of the Nuzlocke)
Shanoa (trivialized the Electric-type and Flying-type gym)
Kirby (The unexpected team member who does well)

If it makes you feel any better, I also came across an Audino in a Nuzlocke when one of my favorite Pokemon is on the route. In Kalos Route 6, there is an 80% chance that a Venipede pops out of a rustling bush. Naturally, I go for it but an Audino pops out instead
Audino is now one of my least favorite Pokemon

Darmani the Darumaka evolves into Darmanitan!
Sunny: Yes! I have a good Fire-type Pokémon!
N's Castle encounter: (Reshiram)

I remember when I did my first nuzlocke in black and white, I too had to restart multiple times cause of the Lenora fight and I still never recovered with the war flashbacks from that fight.

As one of the only Cryogonal fans I have to say I love it, not only because it's just funny looking but also because it's the only genderless pokemon that can learn attract. Cryogonal is a Non Binary Rep we needed, I will not hear any different. They're just a little dude

Absolutely, though its nothing super convoluted or technical 😅
- I record the entire gameplay with a different microphone (Recorded with Streamlabs OBS)
- Cut that gameplay up into a storyboarded timeline and then write a script based on the cutup vision (Cut with Premiere Pro)
- Review the script and make a list of pokemon that need to be drawn and what poses they need
- Spend months drawing pokemon and trainers (easily the longest part of the procedure) (Drawn with Photoshop)
- Record the vocal narration (Recorded with Audacity)
- Throw it all together in the editing software where I add music, sound effects, visual effects etc. (Final edit with Premiere Pro and After Effects)
Thats the basic rundown :) These videos take usually between 2 - 6 months to create as I work a fulltime job and do this on my own! Though they are purely passion projects~

Why use Arm Thrust against N of all people?! You can relearn Hammer Arm or hack in BP to buy the Brick Break TM from the battle subway and have a much better move. Arm Thrust ranges from 30-75 BP (single hit isn't possible unless it only takes one hit to kill), two and three hit are 35% chance a piece, four and five hits are 15% chance a piece. You have a 70% chance for it to be less than 60 BP. The other two moves are always the far better decision
Probably because I’m a total novice at Pokemon and don’t know these games inside out lmao.
I barely even know the movesets of base Pokémon, let alone know anything about professional nuzlocking. I’m just here to have fun and play a game I enjoyed whilst explaining my unique experience with it.

Okay so I looked into the rules and no where (that I saw) does it say you can’t use Pokémon that have died right before the final battle begins so I guess it’s okay but if your not satisfied with the results you could always do it again off screen and earn it in a way you would be satisfied with

From memory, I don't even think N heals your pokemon. After you defeat him, another fight with Ghestis begins automatically and all your pokemon are fully healed up.

Are you sure you used dragon tail? Cause the way you portrayed it is wrong. Its a move that moves last abd it switches out the target that gets hit by it
So the answer is both yes and no.

So dragon tail is absolutely the move I had been using but I made adjustments to how certain moves and battles played out for the sake of telling a more interesting and engaging story. Truth be told, that final fight wasn't as intense in practicality but as a story teller, I changed certain aspects of it to make that grand finale feel more greater than how it actually played out. It feels wrong to have a cop-out ending without any grand stakes, when the video is already incredibly long. I don't want to rob audiences of their experience by having such a bare-bones fight at the end of a long journey :)
