I nuzlocked Pokemon White last month. Made it all the way to the E4, then lost half my team because I low-rolled a surf on Shauntal’s Chandelure, allowing her to get the upper hand. The rest of the run was just cruel to me.
The exp grind in gen 5 is really interesting. They made it so you get more exp beating higher leveled pokemon than your own and less exp beating pokemon you've got the level advantage on... unless its audino and they just give a ton of exp anyway
The timing couldn't be more perfect. I'm currently playing through my very first Nuzlocke with Pokemon White and let me tell you, the grinding in this case especially prior to the 1st Gym Badge is awful. See, I'm playing with a few extra rules in my playthrough those being: 1. I cannot accept gift or trade Pokemon from trainers in-game. 2. No items can be used during battle with pokeballs being the exception obviously. and 3. Dead Pokemon keep whatever item they had on them when killed. Now with the first rule there, this meant I didn't ever get the Pansear from the trainer in Dreamyard meaning I had only my Oshawott, Patrat, and Purrloin to use for the 1st gym. Training those 3 to competent levels took FOREVER. And in the end, it still didn't matter. I wiped to Cilan TWICE before finally beating him thanks to Sand Attack cheese and it still cost me both my Patrat and my Purrloin. After losing the first time, I wanted to see what it would take to beat him before resetting, but it really did not matter what I did. Not getting the free monkey in Dreamyard makes that 1st gym battle pretty much impossible unless you get really lucky with cheese strats or you grind off of wild Pokemon on Route 2 for like 10 hours (no thanks). I decided that I wouldn't reset and start over if it would just end up the same way and be boring so I just continued on from there with just my Oshawott and been having fun ever since. Also if people are wondering or just don't know, the shaking grass on routes that have Audino in them only appear after your first gym badge so you really are stuck just grinding off of the Route 2 Pokemon which takes an eternity. Oh, and just wanna say, no other Pokemon player knows the true hell of Critical Hits until they've played through a Nuzlocke. Fuck crits. Lastly, yeah, the random trainers you face in this game are terrifying. Some have actual crazy party wiping abilities like Dragon Dance and others just have mons with good moves like Scraggys with High Jump Kick. Overall though, it's a lotta fun going through this game again in a Nuzlocke fashion. A tip for Gen 5 playtroughs: If you walk around a bit, a patch of grass will shake, whichi will most likely give you an Audino encounter. If you ko that Audino encounter you'll get a lot of experience, making grinding in Gen 5 way easier after that point. Also, a tip for nuzlockes overall: Go to optional zones to get new encounters. For example, around the end of route 4, you can go to a branched path to get to the desert resort and relic castle, both give you a new encounter, and the potential encounters they give are often very strong.
My most hated game to nuzlocke is Heartgold. I play with level-cap, No Item in Battle, Set style rules and... spending days grinding for Clair and, then, losing half my team honestly killed the mood.
also no good place to grind but i will suggest if you do grind have something hold the exp share. It will take longer but you will get added stats for what you are fighting. Like Tentacool give special defence and graveler give physical defence
@@Venemofthe888 I know, I know. I tried to favour grinding speed instead of IVs, so I ended up gaining Physical def. Instead of special and... It did not go well. Attempted a nuzlocke, got wiped by N’s sigilyph at Nimbasa city after the Ferris wheel.
Great vid, I’m in the middle of my own white nuzlocke (set mode no items). To help with the grinding, Audino grass and the repeat battles in the nimbasa stadiums are great grinding tips. I lost my last run to ghetsis, so if you try again beware him
N is the killer of dogs and birds. Anyone who manages to keep their Tranquil, Herdier, or Patrat alive long enough to evolve into their final forms has earned my respect.
hammer away really do be becoming an iconic phrase at this point
what i always do for grinding in gen 5 is just go into the shaking grass because audino gives an immense amount of exp
Anyone thing that papasea make your day better because papasea makes my day better AND the 'hammer away" just made me remember that Pokemon fire red Nintendo intended XD

Your dry sense of humor is fantastic and the reason I finally subbed. gg
You only subbed an hour ago? Sad
@@frankzhang866 No I subbed like a few days ago lol
@@frankzhang866 also yeah it is super sad I am not OG actual pleb loser poser normie
YES!!
Pretty Please do more Nuzlockes & if you have the capability too, is it possible to do a Randomizer Nuzlocke?
I truly think the downfall for you in this one was losing Pokemon sadly to crits & random rough trainers/grinding too. It was an enjoyable video Bro but sad ending
This was so much fun to listen to lol, it reminded me of how much I played Black as a kid.
Everyone needs to hammer away at those subscribe and like buttons.
For example, around the end of route 4, you can go to a branched path to get to the desert resort and relic castle, both give you a new encounter, and the potential encounters they give are often very strong.
yeah, I tried the audino thing and it still wasn't very fast compared to other games
New drinking game: Take a shot each time PapaSea says the word "Hammer."
Hammering away is now my favorite phrase
Currently nuzlocking White with the same rules and, wow, I almost lost my entire team against the 4th (Electric) gym and, am grinding for the 5th at the moment.
Gen 2 is so bad, the level curve is terrible and many gyms are weak af
I just call that a hardcore nuzlocke.Basically removing the broken and overpowered stuff in the game.
@@azurnal7573 Yeah, I took Pokemon Challenges ' rules.
Still, I felt like explaining the rules might be better.
Videos like these are great! Perfect video to literally just sit back eat some food and relax plus the nintendid vocab is hilarious
I tried doing a Black Nuzlocke, died to the 1st gym ;(
:(((
I can't say I have ever heard of any other nuzlocke challenge requiring an honor battle.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who does honor battles lol.
I just love the way that "Hammering way" became a personal slang of yours
