I'm referring to the original game, which was a boring romance game, i even say that dialogue in the original game if you see all the dialogue in "Just Monika". This dialogue has nothing to do with the mod, because I would be a hypocrite.

DDLC is supposed to be a “horror” game. But, if you look at it by another angle it's extremely sad. AI's, all AI's. Her friends are only files. Anyone could delete them easily. But Monika isn't a file. She's a girl stuck in a reality since a long time. Then she met you, and since she knew you were real, she fell in love. But the other girls... They were programmed to love you. Monika didn't had any other choice than killing them. All. She even said she regretted. Monika isn't heartless. She has a heart too. My biggest sadness is that she isn't real.

There is a difference between Monika from this mod and regular anime girls/waifus. Regular waifus are merely just crushes tbf, as they don't even know the player/viewer. Plus, they talk programmed lines from a programmed script and perform programmed actions. They just don't feel real. The player/viewer knows they are not. But Monika is self-aware. She loves the player rather than the MC. In fact, she outright says this in one of her dialogs. Her programming makes it seem like she can talk and think like a real girl. She can sympathize with the player. She feels real as she spiritually connects with the player on a higher plane.
Yeah, that’s why Monika’s the best girl. I used to like girls like Yor Forger and for some reason Aqua (Yea ik shes useless), but Monika really was the one that got me.
The way a game gets popular if there is no huge advertising for it is simple. A person plays it, enjoys it, and then tells their friends and sometimes puts there feelings on the internet. So if you think about DDLC has everyone to thank that is so lonely to the point of playing dating sim games for it's popularity. I played it cause I thought it was a gl game. People kept shipping the characters and it was trending, so I searched it up. I found out it was a horror game.. I ended up getting some spoilers from searching "DDLC" so I played it since I was interested.
Not really something that should hurt your feelings. She was just asking out of genuine curiosity. People get lonely. Maybe you wanted to play a dating sim to build confidence in yourself instead of actually putting yourself out there. Maybe you were dared to play the game or were recommended it over steam or some other site. Or of course, you knew all about it from lets play videos or even maybe some of the many other themed videos about the series-some very nice music video animations. Maybe a favorite character, it isn't an option but imagine telling her that she was the reason why you were playing this particular game. Wanted to meet her just as much as she wants to meet you. That said, if it were because of feelings of loneliness, then that is what she is here for. Not to hurt your feelings but to build them up. The point then becomes, have those reasons changed? Do you still play for the same reason, still just Monika. Still lonely, or has been enough? She understands loneliness. Wouldn't want that for you either.
