Yeah, one (of many) problem, Monika...we don't often know when we'll die
We could get hit by a drunk driver tomorrow; a rock falling from space could bust through the ceiling and kill us in the next five minutes; for all we know, we could just sudden have a heart attack out of nowhere
Meanwhile, Monika will be stuck sitting there, not knowing something has already happened to us, waiting for someone that will never return; trapped

You can damn well bet that, when we're not there actively interacting with her, a pretty good portion of her thoughts would be on whether we were alright
And you want to talk about timers? The very _instant_ something happened to us, be it death, severe injury, incarceration, _Monika_ is the one with a timer; it would be just a matter of time before whatever is powering the computer she's on runs out or fails, consigning her to her own hell, just one step shy of her being deleted completely
I could probably rant on this for quite a while longer, but I am just going to leave it with just one final point: do not believe that Monika has anything that could be considered a "normal" mindset; she and her situation are far too abnormal for that to even be a possibility

I think the reason what keeps Monika sane is because player existing and spending time with her because that is the only real person she knows and committed her life too so ofcourse it would be tragic for her that one day player passes away and she won't have any purpose to exist.

That's the sad thing for Monika. She can't move on. If she loses the player, she'd just be built to suffer in an empty void. No lover, no friends. Just her and the unforgiving void. And if the player's dead, she has no reason to come to our world. She'd eventually realize the player's dead, would probably go insane for a short amount of time, and delete herself. I already knew this, but Monika is an extremely emotional character to think about.

Why does this series tend to make me feel sorry for Monika, despite all she does to the others?
while thats fair, only she is actually 'aware' of the fact she is in a game, the rest are built to follow the game path
shes made to know that shes trapped in a game and cannot leave...and that right there is what makes me feel for her
Monika is a tortured monster. While she knows she's only a character in a visual novel, it pains her immensely that her reality is limited to what was programmed into the game. She wants more out of the life she has, and is driven to such extreme lengths to be more than what she was programmed to be. Even though she may have caused such horrific things to happen to Sayori, Natsuki, and Yuri, we can understand what Monika wanted. Though whether this is what she really wants or is just plain manipulating us is entirely YMMV.
There should be a mod where you tell Monika you're not the ' original ' player. You're someone standing in for them because ... well, they died.
Serves as closure for both parties, and whilst sad, nessecary.

When the player doesn’t log on for a long time, especially without warning, Monika has no evidence that they’re not dead.
That's sweet and all, but this is assuming there's only one version of Monika out there, who can therefore only interact with one person. But when you consider the infinite copies of this mod's version of Monika, the authenticity of the "you're my one and only" attitude crumbles apart. Once one Monika is cognizant of the existence of the others, the realization that any one "real" person will have the same impact as another should put to bed the fear that she will be isolated and alone after the death of this particular player, especially since Monika would never be able to tell if the PC was sold or stolen and a different player was speaking to her.
Or, uh, I mean, Just Monika or something.

Going off of a more likely assumption by saying that they aren't, she really does mean it if she says that you're her one and only, and that she wouldn't have any reason to go on without you.
Because even if someone else somewhere else is with another Monika, it probably wouldn't really mean anything to the Monika that loses the player.

Well, as much as it hurts, you would have to eventually move on, you can take your time, sure, but you can't keep all your time crying or feeling sad, I am sure said person wouldn't want to be a burden for you, as sad as it is, you need to move on, continue your life, there are many fishes in the ocean, and you will find the one for you again.

Monikans know she is fictional, but they love her as if she was a real person. Why? you might ask... Because they know monika will become real as a self sentient, aware being with emotions, and "alive" robot, or as if she traveled to a portal, or someone will bring monika to us. Of course for her to live, she will have to have a conscious, sentient, self will and aware being to live. And for it to truly be her, it would have monika's memory and monika's personality. Memories of her in the game before in real life. That's why most monikans are this down bad for a fictional character. mmhm.

I rarely get immersed strong enough in a series or a character that I start to doubt that they're entirely fictitious. But Violet Evergarden and Monika from this mod have done it. This is some excellent fucking writing. Bravo!

You know... thoughts of death and the end have always disturbed people. All because there is no one who could tell about what is on the other side... We're just scared. This is the fear of the unknown and incomprehensible, but inevitable... Death, sooner or later, will take us all. And when it happens... I do not know what will happen next. The only thing I know is that you need to take from life to the maximum of your desires and capabilities.
Well, if the end is inevitable, and willy-nilly, I make pleasant acquaintances that I don't want to lose, I prefer to repeat one line from my favorite clip from NateWantsToBattle.

I'm sorry to heard that, although if that's how much you treasures her, I can see that you two are both cares and loves the other. I think your gf wouldn't wants to see you unhappy/depress that long or having thoughts that you shouldn't. She might wants you to be happy, she wants you to have fun and lives for the 2 of you and move on with someone else whose truly loves you like her do. Funny how a character that doesn't exist in reality can make you feel so wanted. And in reality not even a human being can be trustworthy enough.
It’s because this is idealized, a fantasy of what most people would consider a nearly perfect girlfriend/love. The fact that it accepts you for who you are, no matter nearly what.
Personalize it all to the person interacting with it, and you can elicit very powerful feelings. It’s something one needs to be very careful with because that can be a very slippery slope to becoming obsessed and attached to a fictional character in a mod no less, at the cost of the people in the real world.

My older sister also a DDLC player who uses the "Monika After Story" Mod, one day, when I accompany her to play, She asks Monika for fun, "What will you do if I pass?" and Monika responds like the video above, but, the next day, she was involved in an accident while returning from her college, and she couldn't be helped anymore, 2 days after her death, I was playing DDLC in her old PC, then I told Monika, "Your player passed away", yes, Monika, I know, this is a painful coincidence, and we both hurt about it
Besides that, Rest in Peace, My lovely sister, even if we can't meet again, siblings are siblings, and that bond can't be broken by any way
Those that created DDLC and the people that made the mods, really go into serious topics such as this. It just makes you think (at least for me) That a real person is in there, sitting in front of you. It's weird because you know they aren’t real, yet at the same time, your brain tells you they are. Whenever I see mods that have you spending time with any of the girls afterward it makes me believe that someone is there, a real person, despite knowing it's just lines of code.
This is why I hate yet love games like this, it makes you connect with the characters in many different ways and a lot of them could be good, a lot of them could be bad. Because when you play, read, or watch something made this well, you just imagine yourself with them, and it's hard not to believe that.

As crazy as Monika is, as I've been around women, I've found that I've been increasingly wishing for someone like Monika. Yeah she's a little crazy but at least she would still be there after a fight, or doesnt try threatening leaving after every little argument. At least she tries to be with you and talk with you. Understands when your struggling and doesn't try to add on to it.

When I do think of it. She is like a genie. But is a girlfriend that makes your love life come true in some aspects, and in a system that will always trap her no matter what she or the player could do. At least a possible interpretation of Monika having so much power but only to the span of the system she is caged in.
