The author of the Dogman books is also the creator of Captain Underpants. I love those as a kid. Btw, the 90's Disney films are still fantastic today. Best era of Disney.
0:33 To give you context, the Dog-Man series is essentially a spin-off from Captain Underpants. In one of the last books, it's explained that the character of Dog-Man was created by George and Harold when they were five (which is why logistically it wouldn't make sense for the biological switch but it still works). The little comic George and Harold made in the book proved to be very popular as it became its own series when Captain Underpants ended. It's a shame Jeremy never reviewed Captain Underpants when it came out in 2017. Genuinely a spot-on adaptation that holds up!
The disney animated Robin Hood. It was one of the best movies ever when I was 5 and is still one of the best movies ever as a 23 year old. It feels so whinsical and fun with fantastic characters. That movie fits a mood I suspect no other movie will ever succeed in replicating.
fortunately we have good judges and not some guy who thinks he's funny and gives bad movies a good review just to seem intelligent and good movies bad review to pander to the whinny audiences 👍🏻 😂❤
I am a children’s librarian and we cannot keep the Dog Man books on the shelves. They are always checked out. And that’s BEFORE this movie was a thing. Pretty sure this film is going to make bank, and then some.
Bone is the childhood story that has stood the test for me considering it’s a yearly tradition of mine to re read that series for the wonderful characters, fantastic world building, beautiful art, and top notch comedy
My 10 y.o. has been waiting for it for months. He MUST see it, and I AM taking him. He made that very clear. I can handle this generation's "Who framed Roger Rabbit"; thanks for the review and the epic thumbnail.
You won't regret it man. The generational jerk thing was really heartfelt. I was having a convo with my son (who has ASD) about how the world is a dark and shitty place (he was asking about why people kill other people) and there's a moment in this movie where this convo is pretty well paralleled... don't wanna spoil it...but it's the best movie theater investment we've made since the mario movie
Glad to see that Jeremy liked it. Two things other things worth noting aside from this being the feature length directorial debut of Peter Hastings, they did update the DreamWorks logo, replacing the Bad Guys with Roz and Baby Brightbill from The Wild Robot, and for the Shrek portion they now added Gingy standing on Donkey's back. Additionally there is a Bad Guys short that plays before the film.
I have a local theater that is basically always matinee prices. $5 per ticket and they are one of the only ones freshly popping popcorn as well and for half the price of the chains. Gotta support local businesses if we want affordable theaters and avoid these overpriced chain theaters.
Unfortunately, I'm very morbid, so when my husband asked what this movie was, I started explaining about the scientist who was trying to do head transplants and would experiment on dogs. He then thought this movie was created using that as inspiration and was horrified. 😅
3:15 Easy answer for that. Coraline, yes I know the book it's based off of was made by a not so great person, but there rest of the cast and crew who put so much creativity into the style, direction and animation. The movie is timeless to me and there hasn't been anything like it since.
It's amazing how Jeremy is still active reviewer since I first started watching him as far back as 2009 or 2010. It's good to see you still here Jeremy! I wish you well and I appreciate all your reviews! 🙏
I m surprised Dreamworks had mercy on the mayor And they didn’t made her a evil character like source material counterpart Only grumpy for Petey escapes
This is on my list of films to watch in 2025. I never read the books, but I’m familiar with Dan Pilkey’s work. I read Captain Underpants during my childhood and was able to watch the film when it aired on television. I’m definitely going to see this film next week. Thanks for the review, Jeremy.
I feel, maybe...uhm, my parent(s) were not there when my older siblings grew up watching Looney Tunes characters, like Hector the Bulldog, Barnyard Dawg and yep Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote...😅
I had pre-ordered tickets for my kids and their friends, and was dreading sitting through this. Your review came in at a great time. Very reassuring. Thanks!
Saw the film in 4dx its a great time. Only annoyance would be the screaming kids but thats a given when you take the family to a kids film after 3:30 pm
With how much the mid to late-2010s felt like the backwash of stuff my parents liked when I was their age, it does make me happy that this current generation of kids will actually have their own stuff to look back fondly on when they become grouchy old bastards in their early twenties.
Zathura was a great movie when I was a kid and it's still a great movie now. A great adventure movie even though the characters never leave the house and it has a surprising amount of suspense in the 3rd act.
Your channel is one of the best on TH-cam! The quality of the videos, the presentation of information - everything is at the highest level. Thank you so much for your hard work!🎀🏝🧸
Hey Jeremy. Are you going to review Castlevania Nocturne season 1 and 2? First season is just okay. But the second season kicks so much ass. It's near perfect like the first series
Literally any Barbie movie are ones I watched and loved as a kid. They still hold up to today's standards on quality. (Granted with 50 movies there are some bad ones, but I recommend the earliest ones) Princess and the Pauper is universally beloved, Fairytopia series is amazing, Nutcracker and 3 Musketeers has Tim Curry for a villain, Island Princess is a great stand alone one, Swan Lake and 12 Dancing Princesses are amazing retellings with beautiful dance numbers, Rapunzel set the bar high when I went to watch Tangled, Mermaid Tale is fun and exciting, Magic of Pegasus is unique and full of action, & I'll end on Princess Charm Echool cause the others get dicey after that. But that one was a fun movie, no alcohol required.
In Spiderverse there was a specific story reason they dropped frames for Miles animation to show he's learning but for most animated stuff since it's only because Spiderverse did it. They took the wrong lesson which should have been experiment more with stylistic choices
Dating myself… the original Star Wars trilogy, ET, and Raiders of the Lost Ark were all childhood favorites of mine and they all hold up. Back then the PG rating was a real thing, I feel the introduction of PG-13 killed the development of a lot of movies that were kid friendly yet involving for adults as well.
My 5 year old son has been watching the Captain Underpants show (and we watched the movie from a few years back) so im looking forward to bringing him to see this
Everyone need to give Jeremy credit for doing a full video just a day after his Dog-Man surgery.
Jeremy The King of Movie Reviews

"But who am I to speak? Welcome to my jump-cut reviews." Brilliant.
there's jump cut after ?
Jesus I can't believe it's been 11 years. I was watching you back then when you got those two. How time flies. I still love what you do.
0:00 Anyone notice how Jeremy just popped onto the screen rather than just be there from the start?
The illuminati is to blame
editing fault, the background overlay that supposed to replace the green screen appeared first instead of him lol.

Sometimes I just whistle the tune from it for no reason. It just has a relaxing vibe -- until shit goes down.
"no alcohol required" is an interesting glimpse into Jeremy's childhood memories of watching cartoons with his parents.
When you realize a movie about a dog with superpowers based on a kid’s book might be the best superhero movie of the year.
Huh.
K
You may very well be right.
Ain't no way its gonna be better than Fantastic Four or Thunderbolts
He doesn't have superpowers, though.
If Jeremy and likeminded people were on the Academy Award judges panel, more deserving movies would actually win the Oscars
fortunately we have good judges and not some guy who thinks he's funny and gives bad movies a good review just to seem intelligent and good movies bad review to pander to the whinny audiences 👍🏻 😂❤
Atlantis and Treasure Planet are my go to picks. I loved both the films when I was a kid and still love them to this day.

Peter Hastings first actually directed the country bears for Disney.
Speaking of which do a REVIEW OF Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Iron Giant… still holds up after all these years!!!
Also, your thumbnail is genius!
3:10 That's what cinema managers should have listen to consumers complains and reduce cinema ticket prices a £1 off
well I'm sold. The best "kid's" films are just damn good films for all ages
That thumbnail is so genius I love it
as a nearly 43 year old adult I am intrigued by this
I still cant believe that Jeremy never reviewed Puss In Boots 2 but reviewed Dog man hahahha
Well, im also waiting for the Bad Guys review too haha
Never realized this. He HAS to watch The Last Wish. Took me competent by surprise!
Jeremy, my hat is off to you on that thumbnail.
Jeremy still making me laugh all these years later
Jeremy just blinks into existence at the beginning haha.
My Dog Skip. Watched it on home video when I was 7 or 8. Now I’m 36 and still teared up.

Jeremy on his John Wick phase again 😂
Just because of the thumbnail I'm liking this video. This is TH-cam is about!
Movie I revisited that resonated just as much as an adult: Who Framed Roger Rabbit
The thumbnail! 😂 Jeremy this is one of the reasons why you are great!
Gypsy and Danger my favourite dynamic duo 🥹
I was actually expecting for Jeremy to do the whole review with one of his dog's head edited on his 😔
2025 seems to be on a roll, movie wise. I mean...Sky Force.
I’m still waiting for that Emilia Perez review lol 😂
Hoodwinked is still stupidly amazing 🤣
Soooo many. Atlantis. Treasure planet. The iron giant. And best of all Prince of Egypt. Those movies helped build my taste in movies

Thanks Jeremy. For me the neverending story was a fantastic movie when I was a kid. Nowadays I still enjoy watching this movie.❤
Me too.
I prefer the prequel, about the dog's mother, directed by Kevin Smith.
Jeremy should have done this video while wearing a dog mask
We finally know who's a good boy!
Watched every one of your reviews. First time first comment. Luv ur Chan bro. Keep it up 👍
Literally headed to see it in an hour. So glad it has your stamp of approval 😊
so did you (and your kid/s?) end up liking it?
Thanks Jeremy. Now I know where to take my kids this weekend
Better be a doggy style joke! 😂
Flight of the Navigator. I last watched the movie right after Paul Reubens passing, and it still holds up as a solid adventure.
Don’t care about the movie - just here for The JJ doing his thing
Real fans of Jeremy know he named those pups after seeing the great 2013 masterpiece Pacific Rim. 11 years old. Puppies Forever!!!
I remember.
Little Monsters with Fred savage and Howie Mandel is still peak
I’m liking this video just for that hilarious yet creepy thumbnail image
The thumbnail is perfection! Glad the movie is good too. My son is a fan and has been wanting to watch it since it was announced!
Thumbnail is great--I was hoping we'd see an alternate werewolf opening too. 😆
I’ve been a silent subscriber for years, but I had to comment that the thumbnail was LOLLLLLLLLL 😂😂
The best thumbnail on this channel, and on an unrelated note, the best marketing possible for this film 🤣🤣🤣

3:17 The Sandlot. If you know, you know.
Ok good message to give the kiddos. Plus you can ease them into later body horror movies down the line too.

Damn I like this new thing of jeremy changing his face based-inspired on the movie poster.
I've seen Debby does Dallas as a kid. Saw it recently again. Still good.
2 things 1 the thumbnail is what brought me here and 2 this is the real Wolfman movie that we all wanted to see lol!
Hey Jeremy. Are you going to review Castlevania Nocturne season 1 and 2?
First season is just okay. But the second season kicks so much ass. It's near perfect like the first series
As my goto film reviewer, I appreciate Jeremy preparing me to take my kid to this movie tomorrow
Jeremy hasn’t reviewed Captain Underpants yet but I’m glad he did for this one

Absolutely love the thumbnail lol
Wow, I did not think a movie about a cop dog man would talk about generational trauma.
Animaniacs never ever ever ever gets old. Animaniacs is 1 of best cartoon shows of all time.
The ORIGINAL one, NOT that crappy reboot!
@colleen4ever 💯
The thumbnail is hilarious 😂
Cats Don't Dance is one that I revisited recently. I was worried that it wouldn't hold up, but it did!

I grew up reading the books and from what I’ve seen, the movie looks very faithful. Fingers crossed 🤞
My 5 year old son has been watching the Captain Underpants show (and we watched the movie from a few years back) so im looking forward to bringing him to see this
This could been hell of a Horror movie idea
Literally any Disney movie from the 90’s . Still just as good as they were when I was younger. also the Prince of Egypt.
Bro that thumbnail is freaking hilarious🤣
I feel like the grays are running through Jeremy's hair these days..... me too 😅😬
Wasn't this premise an SNL skit?
Well, I just watched Groundhog Day.
I took my 10 year old to see it yesterday and he loved it. I enjoyed it as well.
