@@ogreface8 Actually, yeah, best response honestly. I remember some channels making fun of Moon Knight and how they don't show certain pivotal action scenes, and they put me out of wanting to watch it. When I finally did, though, I barely resisted face palming my face so hard upon realising it made so much sense for the story they wanted to tell.
Every time the trailer comes on TV, my husband asks, "what is this?" forcing me to explain it. After the fourth time, I said it's not funny anymore, and he was confused. He genuinely kept wiping the existence of this film from his mind.
The irony is that there is already a backstory of Mufasa and Scar. There's a book called Lion King: A Tale of Two Brothers. In that story, Mufasa and Scar are biological brothers. Mufasa was the first born while Scar was the second and their father favored Mufasa than Scar, which gives Scar a motivation. Also Scar's real name, Taka, it means Trash. Their dad named Scar, Trash basically. They could've adapted the book and make it about two brothers who were close and that bond got broken at the end. Would it be a sad and bittersweet ending since we know what happened? Yeah, but it would've let us see how much Scar was consumed by jealousy and how he was treated by his father.
@@SupportGamin2025 Technically, in the trailers and the Mufasa clips did said refer Scar as Taka before the name change, so...yeah his name was Taka. Also, you do know that was is past tense right? I was using past tense. By the way, if the books weren't canon, then why did they use Scar's former name from the not canon books then? Wouldn't it make sense they use a different Swahili name for Scar before he became Scar? I do like to have civil discussion with you and I'm just curious that's all. I hope you can answer all of my questions and you seemed smarter than me anyway.
@@callummoore2743adopted means not as connected to the eyes of casual movie goers. For simplicity making them blood brothers is a must for the betrayal to really hurt. Now knowing they were adopted means that the potential for conflict was always going to be there and was not so much a tragedy as it was a prediction
@@callummoore2743 do you work for Disney or something? we all know it makes no sense, no need to defend bad writing. Scar even says he got the shallow end of the gen pool while talking about Mufasa. meaning they are genetically brothers and it does matter.
The ones who care are the woke feminists who wanted to inject their misandrist messaging into the backstory. Will be glad when this woke b.s. finally filters out of movies. People are beyond over it now, but we have to wait for the lag to clear from these movies being written and produced a couple years ago now.
My son saw it yesterday with his friends and he came home saying Scar's personality didn't make any sense at the end of the movie. He said the remorse and regret he expressed didn't align with how he was totally ok with killing Mufasa in the original movie. He's 13, if he could tell the writing was off than how can the adults involved be so dang oblivious? I recommend seeing Sonic 3 instead. We watched it today and it was really good. Way better than the second movie, for sure.
Tbh after watching the movie. Yea mufasa had it coming. Tbh scar was a victim in this whole movie. Even when he redeemed himself they still reject him when he was the product of everyone just not telling him the truth This is in context of the plot of this movie.
Ehhh. This was the origin story of Mufasa & Scar. Scar’s personality at the end of this film was because he literally *JUST* betrayed his brother. He was in a deep state of shame. That could definitely align with Scar in the OG film. All he needs is a few years to wallow in self-pity & get his pack of hyenas 😂
Exactly. They say the eyes are the window to the soul. When I look in Aslan's face, I see life and a personality in them. When I see the eyes of these "live action" lions, all I see is lifeless soullessness.
Yes it is. I went back to watch that film, and he's still the best looking CGI lion ever made. It makes Disney's "live action" lions look like paint splatters.
Mufasa is not the reason why Lin did not return for Moana 2. Moana 2 was originally conceived as a TV series, and Disney did not intend for him to write the songs for the show, but they consulted with him after the series was decided to be made into a movie. According to Lin on an interview, he has been working on Mufasa since after Encanto so the two projects barely or maybe did not even coincide
Wasnt there a line in the OG Lion King where Scar said that in terms of strength he got the "shallow half of the gene pool"? I didnt see the new Lion King from 2019 so maybe that line isnt in it, but if it is than Scar being not related to Mufasa makes no damn sense.
No wait OMG you're right. Even in the remake Scar says something along those same lines. I do sometimes understand why a huge change happens. Like in HP movie 3. Snape is there to save the kids from Lupin. He didn't do that in the book. It helps establish him better as a morally grey character. But this is just a retcon that causes problems.
@@cinderfeatheryeah, in the books, Snape did everything to out Lupin as a werewolf and used Harry and his friends as bait to try to get revenge on Sirius.
Disney gutting their own classic movie of its emotional stakes by retconning that the lions aren't brothers. You're never gonna feel the same way about Scar's betrayal. "That's his brother!.....step-brother."
I, and I assume many others, still believe it should have been the Han Solo trilogy. One movie for each era in his life: childhood into early adulthood, joining the stormtroopers, and becoming a smuggler.

Jeremy, from the bottom of my heart, I really appreciate your unbiased movie reviews, I appreciate that you tell it how you see it, and even tho we don't always agree, I have watched your reviews long enough that I have an appreciation for how our personal taste may differ, so I can always get a good sense on whether or not I am going to like a movie by watching your videos. Not to speak ill of a friend, but stuckmen was right up there along side you for me, as my go too sources of truth, but after he started going on his own film making journey and decided that he was no longer post negative movie reviews, it kind of took him out of my roaster of film reviewers. I get why he made the decision, no hate, just makes me appreciate still having someone like yourself whos willing to tell the good the bad and the ugly. I always tell people its not about finding a film reviewer you agree with 100% of the time, its about sticking with one long enough to understand their preferences and how they differ from your own, then you can factor that in when you watch their reviews, to help you work out if the film is worth going out to see. This only works if the film reviewer is honest, because their opinions will remain more or less consistent, even tho they may change gradually overtime. But when a film reviewer's opinion is artificially swayed, their opinions become internally inconsistent, making it hard to gleem any real insight about the film. Its like playing Chinese wispers, and the person in the middle is intentionally trying to mess up the phrase. there is no way the person on the end is going to get a decent understanding.of what was originally said TL/DR: Jeremy is awesome, keep up the honest film reviews, you are appreciated.
"after he started going on his own film making journey and decided that he was no longer post negative movie reviews" That's like saying that because you played basketball, you're never going to criticize when someone completely misses the basket. @@matthewpatrick7263 Yeah, personally i agree. He stated his approach will simply be to not review movies he didn't like, essentially "if I don't have nothing nice to say, i'd prefer to say nothing at all" which I get. But its easy to see how that would bleed into the reviews he does choose to do.
let's face it, the original lion king from 1994 is more than enough for generations to come, it's iconic and timeless. I am fed up with Hollywood making movies they think are needed, the whole "this is how the characters met" trope bs. no one really cares about that stuf. it should really be left up to the audience to innocently guess and make up themselves.
Yep, one of the greatest films of all time. Glad I was born in the mid 80’s and the Disney ‘renaissance’ was my childhood, from Little Mermaid to Hercules (freak of Notre Dame doesn’t count).
The original Lion King is one of my favorite movies ever and I was 7 in 1994. I'm very interested in a Mufasa movie I'm just not sure how well executed it is.
So essentially they wanted their own Optimus and Megatron backstory but there it HITS because their falling out isn't you know. Over a GIRL. Update - I watched it last night and yeah. Taka is SUUUPER possessive over Sarabi it's pretty gross seeing people go "omg I understood why Taka crashed out" YALL like...he was NOT a good guy and would NOT have made a good king. The movie makes that perfectly clear. Where is the INTELLIGENCE?!
Just got back from seeing the movie with family. Honestly great movie, amazing visuals effects, best CGI I've ever seen. Nice music with some of them being your original songs that brings back that Lion King magic. The story is compelling and facial expressions are very good. Some scenes could had been shorter and the movie could give you the feeling of being too long, but then it catch up with a nice ending. I don't get the negative fuss about it. I recommend it
That’s nice and all but the movie was missing hear because the position of a lion kings was insulted and downgraded to the point it made no sense to be a lion king unlike the first which gave you the reason why that position a meaning.. it’s average movie written by fembots in LA
Yeah this was great. I absolutely love the original animated movies and was super disappointed with the "live action" version, but this was loads better. Like you said, animations were a lot better, I felt like there was a lot more vibrant color that the other one was missing, and most of the new songs were good/fine. I really enjoyed the story and the characters back stories. I wanna see them adapt lion king 2 now, seeing how it looks like they took the criticisms of the original film and really tried to work on them.
Let's not get delusional here, I hate modern Disney but I can't see Sonic beating Lion King, Moana made 700 million and the first Lion King remake make a billion it's asinine
Sonic 3 already made 55M in pre sales. I dunno if it'll beat it like it did the other films the previous ones went against. But it'll do just fine. Especially with word of mouth.
Wait they're not actual brothers? Then how was Scar next in line to be king until Simba was born? Calls Simba his nephew and everything. That just seems completely stupid.
Or the fact in the original movie scar talks about how he got the Brains and mufasa the brawns of the gene pool. As in their shared gene pool because they were brothers.
Okay, whatever. From what I remember, in the “LA” TLK, they changed the line I think? So with that, they seemed to have planned something. Adopted brother can still call his ‘brother’s’ son, nephew. Why does it really matter so much?
@ScourgeIsBestVillain because it changes the whole dynamic of the characters. I never watched the live action lion king (because why?) so maybe they did change things because that's how desperate they are to try and make more of a story when there wasn't one or need for one. It's bad writing and people are getting sick of it.
there's an old story-telling rule of thumb, that I heard phrased the following way: "is this the most interesting story of your main characters life? if not, then why arent you writing THAT story?" kind of explains why all these prequels fail to live up to the original.
You honestly give the most honest reviews. You leave out all those buzz words and BS from other movie reviewers we see. Plus, you try to review from the audience in which the movie was made for.
It feels like the powers that be have forgotten what a story even is. It's not a chronicling of events that happened. It's a chronicling of CHOICES being MADE by the storyteller that ultimately led to triumph or despair. A story that needs to be told to help the teller and audience make better CHOICES in the future. Imagine a different version told by spirit Mufasa to Simba about why he regretted the choices he made that led Scar down his path, and how Mufasa needed to tell Simba because he was going down the same path. Forget memberberries, they could have told a story that makes you think about how you treat those closest to you.
@@Raidoven haven't seen a transformer movie since the second one but most all stories are in essence the same. Status quo, then a stranger comes to town and sets off a chain of events that ultimately bring the character back home with more wisdom.
I don't know if your idea here would turn out to be a better story, but I'd buy into that as a setup for the style of narrative. Ya just don't always know what'll happen when the studio executives get involved
This isnt totally true in the wild male lions group up all the time to stand a chance at hunting. In fact there are reports of small clusters of male lions taking over a pride from what would have otherwise been a more dominant male.
As if Disney ever cared about logics and realism in they live action movies😅 But yes - this moment is pretty well known and it was really stupid to ignore it. Especially when the audience thought they were brothers all those years since Lion King came out. So, in my personal top of stupidest things in live action remakes this moment of making brothers not brothers holds solid second place right after the Black Queen ruling an Independent Caribbean-looking kingdom during the golden age of Slave trade, Racism and Colonialism from the Little Mermaid remake🤯
I get that you're going for realism, but lions don't talk in British accents and run an entire kingdom where all the animals gather for the birth of a new heir, either, so does realism really matter?
@ccowpoke I get your point too, but the thing is realism doesn't matter if you are not even make attempts to be realistic. Like the original Lion King, for example. So, the problem of Disney remakes is that they attempting realism and making it big part or marketing, but always fail. More of that, they are failing spectacularly! And when people are trying to tell them how noticeably they failed, they are screaming the fans are toxic... 😮💨
Wait, Scar and Mufasa aren’t actual brothers?! Well, this just f*cks with just about everything. Brother lions stick together, not lions of different blood…which unlike many brothers who remain close and defend each other, always choose to kill each other instead. It’s why Scar did not want to be judged and felt shame, for being a kin-slayer l, not a king-slayer. It’s why he killed Mufasa in secrecy, tricked Simba and ran him off. And the mention of killing his brother is the only time he showed vulnerability. So this change just f*cks with everything special about the first movie. Disney hates family and brotherhood, that’s why. Ya couldn’t just leave them as normal brothers, could ya, Disney?
It’s ridiculous they’re tryna justify Scar’s betrayal. The og lore was so much better, Scar being the second son, jealous and hungry for power. Making them step brother and Mufasa stealing the throne is so stupid.
I mean when you spend 10 years + with someone everyday as a kid living with their family that’s a brotherhood that is exactly as strong as any blood brotherhood
5:40 lets take a moment to appreciate how much effort Phil Collins put into making 90s Disney movie soundtracks. He treated those like he was aiming to make the ultimate greatest hits album, not just a kids movie soundtrack.. and by God, he succeeded.. thank you Phil Collins for giving us real music to sing along to and not songs like " thick of it" by "diarrhea dude" ( thats the name, according to Google)
Even if I get paid, I'm walking away with the money and not watching this tripe. Don't even want to pollute my mind with this garbage. It will ruin my fond memories of the OG animated Lion King movie
7:43 A prequel showing Avatar Kiyoshi's journey would be awesome. That, and Morpheus' story where things look hopeless until he finds the Chosen One Kean- I mean Neo, probably 😂
A Morpheus prequel could be really interesting in the right hands. Seeing his journey from escaping the Matrix, joining the resistance to the revelation that he will find the One that turns him into a spiritual leader of the resistance, and ends with him becoming the badass captain of the Nebuchadnezzar that we see in the og trilogy.
@@quintusaquila34 Oh yes. It could be about the false "The ones" who kept getting themselves killed believing Morpheus' words. Or a serial killer who had a glimpse into the real world, believes nothing is real so the people he "kills" doesn't really die. The story could be dark asf if they want.
So many plot holes and mistakes. -when mufasa gets rescued by scar he literally not once mentions that he’s part of a pride already and that his parents are alive and probably looking for him - the first lion king remake Disney made, John favreau said he wanted the movie to look as realistic as possible. Ok then why the fuck do you have a pack of white lions in the jungle? -scars mother berates him for saving Mufasa but then defies her husband and pack moments later by standing up for Mufasa for absolutely no logical reason. Seriously why would she want Mufasa to do better than her own son if he supposed to be king one day? - the voice actors for Mufasa and scar kept changing their accents and tones especially as adults. Scar sounds and talks different once he betrays Mufasa and then goes from having a British accent to American accent when he asks his brother for forgiveness. Same goes with Mufasa sometimes he tries to sound like James earl jones then his voice goes high pitch then back down again. It’s like they told him to try and sound like James earl jones as much as possible but kept forgetting. -lastly and this is the most important point. Scar saves Mufasa 3 times over the course of the movie. Once as kids, once where he cops that paw to the face and once when he pulls Mufasa out of the water. Now yeah he did initially betray Mufasa but cmon, if someone came into your life and took your parents favour over you then stole someone you were in love with plus your future job as king are you telling me you wouldn’t be resentful? They did a terrible job of portraying Mufasa as the protagonist and scar as the antagonist. Mufasa at the end just comes off as an asshole at the end and scar comes off as misunderstood. Terrible terrible movie
Ok I’m gonna try to agree and disagree with you at your points - Mufasa not mentioning that he’s apart of a pride is okay because he probably didn’t want to stress Taka out - White Lions exist and they travel alot however I agree, it’s unrealistic to put them in a jungle and make them strong - Takas mom let Mufasa in the pride because Taka convinced her to. I agree it’s weird that he convinced her so fast though, I think this is more of a bad pacing issue. - The reason why Taka uses a different tone around Kiros is probably to sound more menacing, don’t get me wrong I also chuckle a little when he does it - THIS IS WHAT I AGREE THE MOST! Mufasa was in character through out the movie except for the end. Scar has betrayed Mufasa but then he saved him and asked for forgiveness, throughout all of the movies in the franchise (including this one too surprisingly) Mufasa is always shown as this brave, kind, forgiving lion, I was surprised in the theatre when I saw Mufasa banish him. Overall This movie wasn’t bad but the ending was just not it
The visuals are so boring looking. Sure, it looks 'photorealistic' but the vivid and beautiful array of colours from the animated films are so much more striking and magical to watch.
Wicked shouldn't be your example dude. Maleficent is the better example. They made her too sympathetic there. But with Wicked it actually makes sense how things go down the way they do. Not to mention it's kinda like fanfic so not REALLY canon to the Wizard of Oz anyways.
Some great moments for Lion King Fans in Mufasa The Lion King 1. The River foreshadowed The stampede. 2. Taka saving Mufasa with his paws foreshadowed how Scar killed him 3. Obasi not accepting Mufasa forshadowing Simba's reaction to Kovu. 4. Rafiki's great tree. 5. Rafiki's stick. 6. Formation of pride rock. 7. Mufasa's first roar on pride rock with Circle of Life/Remember BG music. And many more.
Even if Tolkien had said this, which he didn't, the irony that it is copy pasted by a bunch of people who have never created anything is not lost on me.
Lion king 2 exists and is already cool, amazing soundtrack I would dare say , he lives in you is better then circle of life and so is ,we are one better then can't wait to be King
As a fan of the Lion King, i have somewhat mixed feelings about this movie. Most of those feelings being negative or Meh. I am going to slightly defend the movie here with 1 part though... Even as stray, Mufasa would technically still be king as his mate was of royal blood: Sarabi. Scars ambition of being king could be wanting to take his rightful place as an uncrowned King. I also think Kiros' pride the outsiders being introduced explains where the outsiders from Lion King 2 had come from. They never saw the fight with Kiros and as far as they knew...Scar was taken in by Kiros and so was the defacto leader of their pride. Hence Zira spoke so greatly of him. As for the negatives. Scar having such a huge character shift from loving adoring brother to vengeful killer in a split moment was hard to buy into. He was inlove with Sarabi but to suddenly shift to wanting his brother dead? I dont get that. At the end he decides to help Mufasa against Kiros but even then, why help Mufasa if he was still planning on revenge? The idea of scar being referred to that nickname was written in a confusing way, his scar wasn't a symbol or reminder of his betrayal of Mufasa but rather how he protected his brother. So i dont get why its made to seem like that name is him carrying shame. Timone amd Pumba were some of the most insufferable characters ive ever seen...and i used to love them. If anything alot of this movies bad writing kinda portrayed Mufasa as a valiant lion who kinda stole Scars place as king. Anyway i feel like these live action movies need to end. At this point, making a 2D animation would be revolutionary
@comebacksarecool2834the whole Disney live action downfall is just like when they got into awful spiral nearly destroying themselves with home on the range and chicken little
It would have been cool if it added some depth to how amazing King Mufasa was and what a loss it was for everyone. Especially if they delved into the brothers relationship and how Scar increasingly became more jealous
It's like having a comic about Batman's parents before they get snuffed out in that alley. Who actually asked or cares. Mufasa is cool, but he's a plot device lmfao.
I could care less about either of those characters. And I highly doubt that would do better than a prequel starring Wolverine and Captain America in their World War 2 adventures
That should’ve been what the Black Widow movie was about, but alas it was instead about some guy who hates girls I guess and uses perfume to control them.
Yess I was literally thinking about it yesterday, when I came across a short of the... last scene those two have together (trying not to be spoilerish). I mean it's not like it didn't have any impact, but it would have had MORE impact if we'd gotten Budapest or the like to delve into their friendship beforehand. Every single avenger had gotten their own movie at that point except them.
Just to post: For those of you who don't know, there is a prequel story on the past of Mufasa and Scar. They both are blood brothers who were very close to each other growing up, but that changed when their father told them both that Mufasa would be the next king due to his personality and qualifications. This really hit a nerve with Taka (Scar's real name), and he was secretly jealous of Mufasa from that day forward. Taka cooked up a scheme to be next in line as king to discredit Mufasa (and even potentially kill him), involving a mad rhinoceros laying waste to the Pride Lands. This backfired tremendously and resulted in Taka nearly being killed by the rhino, only for Mufasa to save him, solidifying Mufasa as the next king. This only made Taka even more bitter, and he changed his name to Scar after his near-death experience put the scar on his eye.
@@ScourgeIsBestVillain And yet they made them adoptive brothers, therefore completely destroying the very nature of Scar's jealousy and why he was suppose to be picked for the throne, but was quickly pushed to the side when simba arrived Not only them being siblings gives me the impression that they're YET AGAIN trying to justify a villains original actions, but the whole point of Scar's beef with Mufasa comes from them being blood brothers and why this choice of being king meant so much to Scar, its a family hiarchy thing - them being non brothers makes that hiarchy completely meaningless because there's no such thing as making a non blood relative next in line to be a king/queen
Couple weeks, I was over to my parents house, and my father, being older, wanted to know if he could rent movies through his tv. We ended up renting the og lion king and watching it together, the movie being a favorite from my childhood that my father and I bonded over it back in the day. We once again found ourselves laughing together, doing the silly voices and noices, humming the dongs and saying the lines along with the characters. He had only seen the live action version once and had disregarded it as trash. When I told him that they were continuing THAT version with this movie, he legitimately slapped his forehead, lol.

Imagine how big of a win this would’ve been for Disney if it was a 2D prequel to the original. It would be a massive pr and financial win regardless of the movies quality because everyone would go see it.
The fact that Mufasa has leadership skills specifically because he was with the female lions is that subtle dig that pushes they agenda that men are bad. It's this agenda that is killing the mov8e industry. It can be a good story without the subtle jabs and yes, less filler and more of a beefy plot. Also, scar not being a blood relative kinda takes away from the "hamlet narrative" of the original story.
It's not even subtle. Every Disney movie these days has some overt "men bad, women awesome" messaging somewhere in it. And they call it "family friendly".
@snakedogman I'm aware that Disney is pushing "women good, men bad" content. The question is, how blatant of obvious is it in Mufasa? Ok, so he ends up building his own pride in the end. That's a male winning. But he's only the good male character he is because he's more like a woman... do they hit you over the head with it constantly throughout the story? Or is it a small seed planted early, the story moves on, and the result only comes from that small seed?
Maybe I’m wrong, but i’ve heard that male lions actually do spend 20 hours of the day sleeping (much like Scar’s father in this movie) in order to save energy, whereas female lions primarily are responsible for hunting. So it makes sense that most of what Mufasa knows about fighting, hunting and leadership comes from the lionesses. Considering this is Disney post-2015, I wouldn’t run it past them to sneak in some “feminist-woman-empowerment” message into a movie but I honestly didn’t catch any of that in this movie.
He has leadership skills because the mother trained and taught him a lot. Female lions do this in real life while the males sleep for 20 hours a day. He was taught and raised well but ultimately earned his own successes
My feelings of it is this would of been a much better version if you did not name this movie Mufasa. It fails to accurately tell the story of Mufasa and Scar. First thing is Mufasa and Scar are brothers not Mufasa is adopted brother of Scar. Mufasa was the first heir to the throne Scar was second in line of succession. Scar become envious of Mufasa and when Simba was born that was the final straw to his decent into darkness. Because if Mufasa died now Simba would be the king and Scar could not be king. This movie would have been much better if this was a tale of the first king of Pride Rock or a tale somewhere down the line in the future. Where Royal bloodline could be changed into a worthy Lion to rise to the throne. This was Disney`s attempt to change the storyline of a great story for no reason only to slap the Lion King name on it to make money off of it.
The mainstream critics don’t realize that Jeremy can stop us from learning something we already knew. We appreciate his honesty and, frankly, commiseration.
The thing about Lin Manuel is that he had his huge hit, then everybody wanted him. And since that he had some other big hits and big misses. But nobody wants to tell him about the misses because he's Lin Manuel. Which brings the whole thing down.

Dude get it through your head the books WERE NEVER CANON TO BEGIN WITH and Scar's name isn't taka
@@SupportGamin2025 Technically, in the trailers and the Mufasa clips did said refer Scar as Taka before the name change, so...yeah his name was Taka.
Also, you do know that was is past tense right? I was using past tense.

The fact that they're not really brothers really waters the first movie down
The real problem with them not being brothers is that now Scar's hatred for Mufasa and feeling he's the rightful king is more justified.

That could definitely align with Scar in the OG film. All he needs is a few years to wallow in self-pity & get his pack of hyenas 😂
Also Aslan from Chronicles of Narnia is still the best live action lion character.

No wait OMG you're right. Even in the remake Scar says something along those same lines. I do sometimes understand why a huge change happens. Like in HP movie 3.
Its like playing Chinese wispers, and the person in the middle is intentionally trying to mess up the phrase. there is no way the person on the end is going to get a decent understanding.of what was originally said

Male lions would just kill one another if not related. They have to be brothers.
This isnt totally true in the wild male lions group up all the time to stand a chance at hunting. In fact there are reports of small clusters of male lions taking over a pride from what would have otherwise been a more dominant male.
@synbiosblade yes. But the dynamic is Mufasa was the king and pride leader. It's not shared power.

Dude, just pretend it doesn't exists lile everyone else. It's fiction
It’s ridiculous they’re tryna justify Scar’s betrayal. The og lore was so much better, Scar being the second son, jealous and hungry for power. Making them step brother and Mufasa stealing the throne is so stupid.

So many plot holes and mistakes.
-when mufasa gets rescued by scar he literally not once mentions that he’s part of a pride already and that his parents are alive and probably looking for him
- the first lion king remake Disney made, John favreau said he wanted the movie to look as realistic as possible.
Ok I’m gonna try to agree and disagree with you at your points
- Mufasa not mentioning that he’s apart of a pride is okay because he probably didn’t want to stress Taka out
- White Lions exist and they travel alot however I agree, it’s unrealistic to put them in a jungle and make them strong
- Takas mom let Mufasa in the pride because Taka convinced her to. I agree it’s weird that he convinced her so fast though, I think this is more of a bad pacing issue.
- The reason why Taka uses a different tone around Kiros is probably to sound more menacing, don’t get me wrong I also chuckle a little when he does it
- THIS IS WHAT I AGREE THE MOST!

I'll be saving my money for Sonic 3 and Nosferatu, thank you. 😊
I need to watch Nosferas-one first.

There was no reason mufasa needed a backstory as everyone knows how it will play out in the lion king.
Literally the same as the Star Wars prequels
@comebacksarecool2834the whole Disney live action downfall is just like when they got into awful spiral nearly destroying themselves with home on the range and chicken little
It would have been cool if it added some depth to how amazing King Mufasa was and what a loss it was for everyone. Especially if they delved into the brothers relationship and how Scar increasingly became more jealous
It's like having a comic about Batman's parents before they get snuffed out in that alley. Who actually asked or cares. Mufasa is cool, but he's a plot device lmfao.
Sonic 3 is the movie to see during the holidays!
Can you see it if you havent seen the other two?
I feel like the one prequel fans would go for is “Hawkeye and Black Widow: Budapest” but that’s one that we’ll probably never get 😞
No
I could care less about either of those characters.
Bo Nix for roty🧡💙
Just to post:
For those of you who don't know, there is a prequel story on the past of Mufasa and Scar.
Taka was never Scar's real name, that was always non canon bs from the books
But Taka IS his original name… But okay, go off king.
Way better writing than this 🗑
@@ScourgeIsBestVillain And yet they made them adoptive brothers, therefore completely destroying the very nature of Scar's jealousy and why he was suppose to be picked for the throne, but was quickly pushed to the side when simba arrived
Not only them being siblings gives me the impression that they're YET AGAIN trying to justify a villains original actions, but the whole point of Scar's beef with Mufasa comes from them being blood brothers and why this choice of being king meant so much to Scar, its a family hiarchy thing - them being non brothers makes that hiarchy completely meaningless because there's no such thing as making a non blood relative next in line to be a king/queen
@@ScourgeIsBestVillain no its not he was never called taka in anything lion king canon, only in the books until that crappy mufasa movie was made
Great review as always
Couple weeks, I was over to my parents house, and my father, being older, wanted to know if he could rent movies through his tv. We ended up renting the og lion king and watching it together, the movie being a favorite from my childhood that my father and I bonded over it back in the day. We once again found ourselves laughing together, doing the silly voices and noices, humming the dongs and saying the lines along with the characters. He had only seen the live action version once and had disregarded it as trash. When I told him that they were continuing THAT version with this movie, he legitimately slapped his forehead, lol.
1:55 Simply from a visual standpoint, this looks terrible. The color grading on the lion doesn't match the background AT ALL. Giving them this washed-out appearance just makes them look strange.
They are white lions
White people
Maybe because... he's a white lion... So he's gonna look washed out considering he has no color. 🤯
@@darkwolf2622 I understand he’s a white lion lol. But I work in 3D and they most definitely could’ve done a better job with the contrasting / composite.
@@iamvoicelessmusiclooks fine to me
I didnt think it was possible to shoehorn in girl-boss girl power 'men are bad' into a movie about anthropomorphic lions. I was wrong.
I wished the movie was called 'Scar' instead. Would've sold more tickets I think.
It’s Amazing they were able to get actual animals to act all of this out! Truly incredible!
Dont put ads at the beginning of the video.
Disney really should make something original. I'm tired of these
I wish Disney didn’t cancel Gigantic.
I agree
Well, then stop paying to see them. We vote with our wallets. Remember that.
This movie is original… there’s never been a Mufasa movie

TH-cam premium
2:12 Disney wanted to see if they could squeeze another billion dollars out of us but it’s not gonna be close to reaching that so hopefully they just stop.
The fact a speedrun moana 2 is making moola when no one asked or cared at the time is doing well, it just may come close
Direct to the sponsor. No beating around the bush. Thank you
They should give us a John Wick prequel. We could finally see the iconic pencil scene
Dwarves- cartoon abominations
Lions- realistic abominations.
Disney: 'no no don't make them real- it might offend real dwarves and lions!! they have feelings!'

Disney had to much pride when making this him.
Mufasa is good because he learned from females
Scar is bad because he learned from males.
So much for the great kings of the past.

The events leading up the Battle of Serenity Valley from Firefly. IF Joss Whedon writes it.
The crew do NOT have to cameo or hell Maybe a cameo to tell the events like narration but the war between the Alliance and Browncoats would be a prequel to see.
It was an amazing movie!!! Everything made sense. It was beautiful…. I don’t understand why people are complaining so much
They’ll complain about this and then line up to see the 100th installment of Transformers…makes zero sense to me
I absolutely adored this movie. I’m so glad I saw it before watching any reviews.
Please just tell me Scar gets his name when he runs into some random guy behind a desk who hears his story and goes...."Well you're just a Solo Cat Attempting Regicide...you're a Scar," and then that guy types that into a computer and that's that
Tbh, I fast forward it to the end to see what the review would be and I'm not surprised. Now to assist with Jeremy's numbers, I will just put the video on repeat in the background while I do something else
real one!
my favorite line from the first one is by Ryan George: "here is a picture of a lion that is mad. And here is a picture of a lion that is happy. and here is a picture of a lion that is sad" And they're all the same picture lol. Also FYI LMM didn't make the Moana music mostly cause it started as a TV show, but once it got turned into movie they had other people already on board.
Jeremy is turning into TH-cam's Keanu Reeves
Jahns wick?
I used work with him, Jeremy, Jeremy Martin looks indentical in the face only way wider body. He worked in the hospital system in the financial dep (thats how we met) and wasn't nice one like this guy, but def looks the same in the face. I'd cast this one over the other anyday.
Was it better then Kraven tho?
i mean kraven would be more fun
That ain’t a high bar.
@@pk251okay now we are taking it too far 😭
Everyone is Kravin' the Kraven. If anyone says they're Kravin' Mufasa more than Kraven then they are simply lion to themselves.
No question. They at least tried to improve on the original remake.
Jeremy needs to watch Juror #2 one of the best movies of this year.
Does it even matter who actually directs these Disney movies? 🤷🤷🤷. They have no identity whatsoever
Exactly, there's no crossover appeal. The people who loved Moonlight aren't going to want to watch a fucking Lion King prequel. They don't give af.
It matters so Disney can have someone to blame if it doesn't do well.

Imagine how big of a win this would’ve been for Disney if it was a 2D prequel to the original. It would be a massive pr and financial win regardless of the movies quality because everyone would go see it.
Wouldn't say the quality of the film couldn't massively tank it
The fact that Mufasa has leadership skills specifically because he was with the female lions is that subtle dig that pushes they agenda that men are bad. It's this agenda that is killing the mov8e industry. It can be a good story without the subtle jabs and yes, less filler and more of a beefy plot. Also, scar not being a blood relative kinda takes away from the "hamlet narrative" of the original story.
Hollywood is a money laundering service now
It's not even subtle.
Jeremy reviewing movies to me is like that meme where it says “if nobody got me Jeremy got me” and it’s that dude pointing😭
Excellent analysis! I agree.
If it was Disney who Owned the Batman rights, we would see a Movie about Batman's parents 😂
Hopefully see your Sonic 3 review soon. Really looking forward to that one!!!
This film will probably makes it's money back even if it sucks, cause it's Disney lol. I wish they never made live action. The original lion king was peak..
Regardless I believe audiences will enjoy Sonic 3 more.
