Lore of the Long Watch - The Thief of Secrets is a Deathwatch relic Power Sword that is inhabited by a Machine Spirit with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. It has tasted the vitae of countless Xenos races, which has been filtered through the blade's auto-sanctified sanguinator-channels and then codified within an array of logicum cells. This has caused the Thief of Secrets to lay bare the biological secrets of many Xenos races and now allows the blade's wielder to modulate its power field in order to easily kill the Deathwatch's foes. FOR THE EMPEROR!!!
Emperor's vengeance does not restore an entire magazine. It is bugged. It only refills your current magazine. It's still nice, but everyone is just pretending that it isn't bugged so it isn't likely to get fixed at this rate.
It is bugged. But if this gets fixed the Melta only gets better. Because the Melta is hurting the most from this. Because you cannot reload. You have to stay on low ammo all the time before you proc it. It is genuinely annoying
Just a note, you don't need to do the aiming on melta with Tac or Van. Only heavy needs it because of the perks he gets benefits out of heavy stance (aka aiming). I completely disagree with your choice of perks on melta for Tac, it would make sense for Van, maybe. Tac gets ammo back from Finishers, reloads are wasted, same as range. Gathalamor is a better choice on Tac for sure.
Ik the reload time on some weapons is long but for me the second the number pops up just switch your gun back and forth for like a 50% reload speed increase. Works Everytime on any gun
In my Experience, if you like to just fire at everything with the Melta, you still get ammo problems even when selecting "Emperor's Vengace" because it only fills up your magazine and not a full mag (i guess a bug, but i could be missunderstanding the perk description). So I opted for the the upper line of Melta perks, because it drasticly increases you magazine size. Like this i rarely have to reload my melta, because of more shots in one mag and even more recovered ammo vie Emperor's Vengance (whould do so even when not bugged). Also I feel like you dont need the range boost, its nice, but not necessary. Most enemies close in to you anyway and the ones that dont still get knocked back while being outside of the effective dmg range. If you have to fight one of the few flying enemies, you have to switch to you pistol most of the time anyway I feel like you also dont need resistance to heavy hits while reloading, because you keep on reloading when you dodge or roll. Next: the faster reload again is nice, but doesnt do that much because you dont have to reload that often due to 11 shot in your mag. Reloading between mobgroups is enough most of the time and even if you have to reload during one, you can do it while rolling around as mentioned before. Side Note: If a majoris (or higher) is coming up dont reload at all, as you will get more ammo back from EV stunlocking enemies is still pretty easy because of you higher fire rate, even after the update Last but not least you get 10% damage boost against all enemies and 10% against terminus enemies (especially nice against big enemies like hive tyrant and carnifex as they take less dmg from the melta since the update) the only perk you dont really profit from much is the 10% dmg buff on the first shot after reloading, as you dont have to reload that often. still this is nice for you first shot into a group of enemies. This whole thing get less effective when not using the Ophelian Liberation - Alpha, because you only get 5+2 shot per mag which leads to more reloads and so on.
I saw you under my comment. I actually made a breakdown myself of the Tactical. With some solo ruthless footage. I never, EVER, ask people to do this but I think this might actually help you out here. I perfected this class by now

Stop spreading this grenade launcher nonsense. Because it's not true. Good weapon but far from the Melta. This build is just bad. But that's not the fault of the Melta.
Sorry but no. The fact you didn't pick "Battle Focus" with a Melta build shows the lack of a very basic understanding of this class. The perks you ABSOLUTELY must have are "Relentless Pursuit" "Emperor's Vengeance" "Priority Targeting" "Battle focus" "Expert Timing" Everything else is optional. But this is your bread and butter. Every parry followed by a gun strike gives your Melta a 125% damage increase. Means every Majoris is a one hit kill and every Extremis is a Two shot. Yes two shot. This has no cooldown. This is so broken I am surprised it flew under the radar from Saber, if I am completely honest. Also Emperor's Vengeance is still bugged after the 3.0 patch. Very annoying. It still only refills your magazine instead of giving you back a full magazine. Means if you reload manually you are going to hurt yourself in the ammo department. Like big time. This needs a fix ASAP. This build is good but far, FAR, from the god slaying meta build.
You make a good point. If you are a peak player and manage to parry every parryable (dont know if this a word, but hopefully understandable) attack battle focus is better. But you have to wait for every enemy to attack you with an parryable attack (not a lot but still some time in some cases). In my experience perfect dodging is way easier than perfect parrying and you can still get the 25% from the gunstrike. I have fared better with dodging and maybe 3 shot plus a gunstrike to take down enemies. (I guess this is personal preference) In the end 75% additional dmg to a carnifex, hive tyrant or helldrake is still a lot and an a lot easier boss fight 🙂
