  • In a recent adventure when I cycles the 220 off road route which is the King Alfreds Way, the bike took a bit of a hammering.
    The chain snappend, the rear derailleur caught in the rear wheel and snapped off, the bottom bracket wore out and too be honest it was a 25 year old bike, so maybe the best option was to scrap it off, BUT. Even though it's an old bike, all the componants are standard and modern and easily obtainable.
    In total it cost me around £130 to source the new spare parts and get the bike back up and running as good as new.
    To replace the bike with a new like for like bike would have cost a great deal more but why should I do that when the old bike is OK anyway!
