I recently tried Laphroaig 10 yr and absolutely loved it. I know want to try all the Islay Scotches. I have tried Highlands and Spysides but am not a fan of a funk on the back end of most scotches.
If you’re getting into Islays, best bet is to stick with their typical 10, 12, or 16 year age statement bottles to start out. Most of those distilleries have other releases with differing finishes, marrying sherry cask aged barrels, or using multiple finishes for different, and they can get expensive, but are pretty amazing. Ardbeg Uigeadail, Port Charlotte 10, and last year’s Laphroaig Cairdeas triple wood cask strength are exceptional Islay single malts, but somewhat pricey.
Do you guys plan to do more vids like this? Super interesting stuff! I was primarily a scotch drinker, until I found your channel. It was definitely for the best, but every few months I go back to some scotches and remember why I loved it so much. Cheers junkies!

Second the PC, the smoke in johnie if I recall is Caol Ila another good Islay malt. Classic laddie by bruichladdic who makes the PC is phenomenal, yhey make a great side by side comparison.
Ardbeg 10 $50, Laphroaig 10 $40. Don't waste your time with current bottlings of Lagavulin 16, it's not what it used to be (pre 2015) and definitely not worth the price tag!
Scotch as a category is so underrated in the US... It's not even funny. Bourbon is fantastic... I absolutely love it, but it's relatively narrow in flavor profile range. Scotch on the other hand... wow, so much to be discovered. But, hey... no one needs a Scotch bubble. Keep paying secondary for BT, lol.

SMWS is kiiling it in the scotch game. I currently have three of their bottles and they're all FANTASTIC.
I have 11 now...I've got a problem. I joined the society back in March and I already have a collection.
I am in the bottle of tbe month club so had to get a second job. Up to 22 now in a little under a year. Sigh

Laphroaig 10 is one of my favorite scotches and Lagavulin 8 is certainly memorable.
