Nice review and honest assessment of this great bass boat! I've started a part-time gig at BASS PRO and am selling the TRACKER line now! It was good to hear from an owner whos fished it hard and made some modifications that you still love this boat!
It's an awesome mid sized fishing boat, I have the same model 50 hp, I've upgraded to a terrova 24v TM. We fish the Ohio river a lot, its very well suited for running shallow tribtaries which is why I chose it. Every time I take it out it gets a new battle scar, sucks but it's part of the deal with painted aluminum.
Thanks for watching! This will be my 3rd season with my Tracker. It's been a great boat so far and I've had lots of great memories on the water with it. Enjoy your new boat and good luck out there!!
Well done review. I have the Classic XL purchased in August and love it. I think though if I had to do it all over again I probably would have gone bigger. I have a new Garmin 93sv to install and based on your review probably will mount it on the bow. I will definitely change out the batteries. The nice thing about Tracker boats is they come ready to fish from the showroom floor with virtually no modifications.
Thanks for watching! How long is the Classic? It was a little tricky finding the 12 volt wire the factory ran to front, at least on mine. The batteries were a little costly but definitely worth it. The annoying part was braking in the engine, it was hard to resist hammering full throttle to my favorite spot and start fishing.😂
@@rgrtv8677 The interior footprint is different on the Classic but the length and width are exactly the same as the 17. I may have Tracker do the install depending on the charges. I agree with you on the break in process, a royal pain in the back side.

Very good review. I have a lot of places I can fish that the 20 horse will come in handy most are like 25hp max. Plus upgrading from a kayak so any motor at any power is a plus for me. This is at the top of the list! Confused about the battery to trolling motor swap I don’t understand that part. Thanks
Thanks for watching and the feedback! The batteries that came with the boat did the job fine. I swapped them to save weight and increase run time. So far the benefits have outweighed the cost. Having said that I plan to upgrade the deep cycle battery this season. I've almost had to pull start the engine after an all nighter on the water.
I fish alone so I was wondering about the stability when fishing off of the front deck. The 175TXW is ok until you step toward the sides. But it is more of a V hull. Summer's ok but don't like swimming in the winter.
I have a bass tracker the only problem is and ik their aluminum but they don’t put enough HP I get you don’t want a 17”5 ft boat to go 70-80 but like maybe 55-59 but what ever it’s still very very nice and is spacious we’re it needs to be
I agree, they're adequate boats for small lakes and the price is right. If I ever move to a state with big lakes and no horsepower restrictions I'd have a Nitro Z21 with a 300 Pro XS hanging off the back of her.

Thanks! It's a Lowrance Hook2 4x with the bullet transducer. I believe you can upgrade the display unit that includes GPS but that's about it. If you want more features you would need to upgrade both.
Great video, thanks for sharing. Just bought a 2022 with a 40hp - I'll be picking it up in mid-April. Do all your electronics, including your TM run off the Battle? Also, the Odyssey, how's that working out? I wonder if I could do the same for a 40hp. It's only a 170 CCA.
Only the trolling motor runs off the Battle Born battery. Everything else is hooked to the Odyssey. Check out the PC925, it should start your 40hp fine. It has 500 MCA (5 second pulse of 900 amps), 28Ahs reserve and only weighs 26lbs. I might upgrade to it this season for the extra reserve capacity. The PC680 only has 16Ahs. That'll run my 2 Lowrance Elite Ti2 units and lights for about 6 hours but the voltage drops into the low 11s . It still starts my 20hp at 11.2v, but if I fish all night I'd have to pull start for sure. There's some other lithium options out there but don't wanna spend $600 on a battery right now. Hope this helps. Enjoy your new boat!! Thanks for checking out the video and the feedback!!

Nice review. I have a 2019 pro 170 with a 20hp and I would have to agree with this review. I like your battery setup as well. I've been looking to lighten up the ass end of mine to pick up a little more speed. Was that recessed trolling motor pedal difficult to install?
Thanks for watching and the feedback!! I'm not sure how much speed I gained, I only had the interstate batteries installed during engine break-in. I really like how the lithium deep cycle stays strong during long days on the water. The recessed tray was easy to install. I ran a string from the back seat post to establish a centerline, cut the hole using the supplied template, and screwed it down. I did have to cut some of the foam out under the deck to clear the tray. Highly recommend one, especially if you stand a lot to fish like I do. Good luck on the water!!
I'm looking to get a smaller boat like this to fish lake Arthur and lake Wilhelm. How fast will it go with the 20hp mercury, and do you know the approximate rigged weight of this boat?
I can easily hit 20-22mph. I’d think my weight is under 1500lbs. The battery setup helps a lot and I only run with a 1/4 tank of gas. Just bought an 11 pitch prop to try, it came with a 10. I’ll have some footage of the new prop in action coming up in the near future.
Is it difficult to upgrade the Lowrance electronics? I’m thinking about buying a used boat next year. I’m on a budget and I live in southern Ohio on the Ohio River!
How well do you think it would scoot with a 40. I had a 2008 txw175 w/50 and got 35 loaded for fishing and 1 person. Comfortable cruising speed for me is like 20 mph but do not want it tacked out
Did you have to get new lug nuts for the rims? I have my 170 on order, and already ordered some raceline wheels. Im over in SE PA, also fishing the HP restricted lakes and ordered the 20hp as well.
Yeah, the lugs for the stock wheels won't work. I ordered new ones from Amazon, size is 1/2"-20 x 1.38" tall. Make sure to buy the 19mm 3/4" hex style. Any socket bigger than that won't fit in the counterbores of the raceline wheels. Enjoy your new boat and good luck on the water!!
Thanks for posting this review, between this one and others, I've decided to purchase this boat...have one on order. I have a question about your recessed foot mount....Is there a cavity under the floor at that point of the deck?...I was thinking of cutting a hole to mount an addition hatch for more storage, would that be possible?
There is but it's filled with foam. I had to use a variety of sharp tools to remove it for the tray to fit. Having said that it's only foam, there'd be a good bit of room left if you removed most of it. Make a nice place for dry storage.
I live in Armstrong County, about an hour north of Pittsburgh. I really like my Tracker, I haven't seen a classic in person yet but love that throwback look.
I assume you fish Lake Arthur? I have been looking for the right boat for fishing at Moraine. Thought about a Jon boat but perhaps the Tracker is the way to go. Great review thx
I'm looking to pick up the 17 txw this weekend. Did your trailer come with brakes? Also do you get interference from the front transducer like that? I have a Raymarine element 9hv and its got the same giant transducer on it.
The trailer doesn't have any brakes, the boat is light so they aren't needed. I don't have any issues with trolling motor / transducer interference. My Lowrance unit is wired to a separate 12v power wire. Interference is usually caused by splicing into the wire that runs to the trolling motor.
Hey there I like the vid I'm about 2 1/2 hrs east of you in Pa. I bought the Ranger RT 188 I like my boat. I liked the tracker 190 but I end up buying the Ranger. Have you taken your tracker up on the River at all
Good to hear from you. Ranger makes a nice boat, I almost bought an RT 178 off craigslist. It sold just before I decided to pull the trigger. I haven't had this boat on the river yet but plan on fishing it this season. I'm sure my viewers are tired of seeing me fish the same lake. Where do you usually fish at?

Over my way you can I have talked to the dealer last year was gonna get the the classic with a 9.9 on it and it would help bring price down. I just never followed through with it. I had a Bass Tracker 3 for 20 yrs I ran till I bought my Ranger. I wanted a bigger boat to do more tournaments with. I also wanted a bigger engine. I ran a 20hp for 20 yes. I love the 115hp on my Ranger

Its held up well so far, I almost went with vinyl but it costs more and carpet is definitely more comfortable. It tramped down some up front but that's to be expected if you fish a lot. I just sweep it occasionally and run a carpet cleaner over it before I put the boat into storage.
Really enjoyed this video. I have a 2021 Pro 170 and try to watch as many videos as I can find on them to see what upgrades others do. I have enjoyed the boat so far, and I an intrigued by your forward transducer mount. Do you find it to mess up your sidescan ability when you have the trolling motor turning? Or you you not use side scan as much as downscan when you fish up front?
The sidescan works fine trolling in a straight line at medium speeds. It does distort the image when you turn the boat, but I do use downscan 95% of the time up front. I plan on adding the 7" (display only) unit at the dash before next season. That way I can link them, drop the trolling motor and ride around looking for structure at the driver seat. It's a little cheaper option and easier than adding another transducer to the back of the boat. You probably already know this but there's a separate wire run to the front of your boat from the factory for a front mount fishfinder. Splicing into the trolling motor wire would cause interference. Hope this helps and thanks for watching the review!!
@@rgrtv8677 thank you for the reply. I have an Elite 12 ti2 at the console and moving my Elite 9 ti2 to the bow in my case. I ran a new transducer to the console and it was very easy. Used the same mounting holes on the transom as the factory bullet and its been flawless. Only hard part is running cable thru the panel where your throttle is, but if you use the original ff cable and pull it thru it is very easy. Not sure your budget but highly recommend getting a unit woth another 3 in 1, both won't be in the water and operational when you are at slower speed, biggest issue may be to put one in standby so they don't interfere with one another, or peace of mind that you have a spare in case one fails. Tight lines!

They said the price went up overnight $1,505.00. They don't want to honor their own written quote that's less than 24 hours old. Then at 5pm I get a call and email saying...OOOOPs. Its the 2022's that went up in price not the 2021's. still want the boat? UMMMMMMMMMMM.
There hasn't really been any changes to Tracker boats for the past couple years to justify the price increase. I've considered a Lowe Skorpion for my next boat but still like the looks of the Tracker, especially the console.

Is it difficult to upgrade the Lowrance electronics? I’m thinking about buying a used boat next year. I’m on a budget and I live in southern Ohio on the Ohio River!
Nice review. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!! Can't wait for spring to get here so I can get back on the water.
How well do you think it would scoot with a 40. I had a 2008 txw175 w/50 and got 35 loaded for fishing and 1 person. Comfortable cruising speed for me is like 20 mph but do not want it tacked out
I'd guess the mid 30's with my current setup. Would of got the 50hp if it weren't for the stupid hp restrictions where I fish.
Fantastic boat👌👌👌
Hi. Those Rims look Hood.. What size are those 13 or 14 in???
Where did u get that rim, is that an option from tracker? Thanks!!
@@rgrtv8677 thank you sir, appreciate the info! Now if all this dang snow would just go away..
@@rastasquidd You're welcome. I know, I'm ready for spring!!
Good review, thanks for sharing.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
@@rgrtv8677 Thanks for the info.
@@poconoboss You're welcome!
When switching to a lithium trolling battery did you keep the lead acid starting battery
I use an Odyssey Extreme PC680 for starting and deep cycle.
What would be the top speed with a Merc 50 on it??
What part of PA are you from? I bought a 19 classic and been having a blast on it. Nice boats.
What is your opinion on the upsides of this vs the xl classic?
What’s the maximum rod length you can fit in the rod locker?
I'm not sure the max length but 7 footers fit with at least a foot to spare.
@@rgrtv8677 awesome good to know. Thanks!
@@dredknot636 Sure, happy to help. Thanks for stopping by my channel and checking out my video.
I like your boat too I like the Pro 170 it is a good size boat. I like the red that Teacker makes with them. I know a lot of people bought the new Bass Tracker Classic. The Pro 170 and classic are same size . Only go up to the 50HP 16'8"
@@stephensee5572 There's a quite of few Trackers like mine where I fish. I don't see any Classics though since you can't get a 20hp on them.
@@stephensee5572 Nice!! Most lakes I fish are 20hp max.

How do you like the carpet. Any issues you notice with it?
@@etsatcom Thanks for the info. I just might consider doing that. One thing's for sure the cheap unit on the console needs to go. Good luck on the water!
Nice review
Thanks for watching!
Whats the price out the door for a boat like that
Around $14500 if I remember right.
Went To the Tracker Boat center in Shakopee. Mn. to look at a used boat. It was crap so I looked at a new boat. They emailed me a quote including taxes and all fees along with a credit app. I filled out the app online overnight and went to the dealer at 8am when they open.
I've considered a Lowe Skorpion for my next boat but still like the looks of the Tracker, especially the console.
thats a beautiful boat sir
Thank you!!
I would like all the sped for this boat
It goes around 20-22mph with just myself and light gear.
Is the boat a lot cheaper with the 20 go vs the 40 or 50 hp?
Yeah it is but can't remember by how much. I priced the one I bought on basspro's website, pretty much what I payed at the dealer.
What wheels are on the trailer? Looks great!!!
Thanks! Wheels are Raceline black mamba, definitely a nice upgrade from the gray steel stockers.
@@rgrtv8677 did you go bigger than the 13’s and if so what size tire is that? Looking to upgrade mine soon and like this look a lot!!
@@jamesfortner8387 I bought 13's so I could just swap the tires that came with the boat. Next time I need new tires I might consider going to a bigger size wheel.
Hey bro would you mind telling me the draft of this boat? If you know. I can’t find it anywhere
I'm not exactly sure either. I've made it through less than 2ft of water without any issues. That was just me, light gear and 1/4 tank of gas.
Thank You !!!
You're welcome! 👍
Also what tires did you put on the trailer? Boat looks really good. Nice vid
Thanks!! I bought new wheels and mounted the tires that came with the trailer on them. They're Raceline Black Mamba trailer wheels, Ebay sells them for less than $100.
Did upgrade just the rims or tires as well?
@@jesuspaiditall4me Just the rims, I used the tires that came on the stock rims. A little cheaper option than getting new tires as well.
What size rims?
Sweet boat, think this might be my 1st boat purchase. Review helpful. Are you the Pittsburg dad dude lol?
Thanks! I think Tracker boats are priced great for what you get. Just got the '21 BPS catalog and the prices haven't gone up either. Guess there's no denying I'm from Southwest PA.😂
@@rgrtv8677 ha got the catalog saw the boat then jumped over TH-cam for some research. I lived in Monroeville for several years before moving back to Buffalo, miss turners tea
@@Channelofdk I used to frequent Monroeville all the time. My brother lived there for about ten years and I shopped Elmer's Aquarium when I had fish tanks.
Looking at a 2021 175
Nice! I see quite of few 175's on the lake I fish. They have the recessed foot control for the trolling motor factory installed.
Need 50hp or 40hp 4 stroke mercury push big boat
Only allowed 20hp max on the lakes I fish🙄
How much does the lithium battery cost?
I paid close $1000 for mine a couple years ago. Now they're selling the same battery for $799🙄.
Was the 20 hp part of the package or did you purchase the motor separately?
Part of the package. The place I bought mine puts 20hp on most of them they sell.
Does it store in your garage 🤔
I don't have a garage and keep my boat in an underground storage facility during the winter months. Somebody did comment and said it's around 20ft in length with the tongue folded.
Nice may as well go that road even a hundred dollar real on it would kill it
Awesome review, I have ordered the same boat 2023 model, long wait to get it built, like the options you have added, especially the recessed foot control. How did you take care of the drain tube in this setup?
How long is that wait??
what does the TXW get you?
I'm not sure what all features you get with the TXW. I see a few on the lake I fish...nice boats!
175 txw is a bit bigger with a bit more room on the front deck and way more storage. Can’t go wrong with either boat for the 20 hp restricted lakes in pa. I went with the 175 because of the storage.
@@dmargo5872 I would definitely consider the 175 TXW as my next boat. Really like the center rod storage and the fact it has a factory installed recessed foot pedal tray. Thanks for the input!
Nice 👍 new to your channel
Hi. I'm still rather new at this but it's been fun and I enjoy meeting fellow youtubers. Thanks for stopping by.
Great video. Could you run a 9.9 on this boat?
Thanks! I've seen guys with 9.9s on them before they allowed 20s on the lake I fish. Not sure if you can buy them that way, probably had the engine swapped at the dealer.
Dude u act like your a pro bass master. IT doesn't look like it's been used that much.
Poor guy got a 20HP I get what he said he dosent fish in big lakes but man 20HP is nothing
😂 Not by choice, that's the max horsepower PA Fish Commission allows on most lakes I fish. The only way around it is to run a bigger engine with 20hp stickers but they know people do it and aren't afraid to fine them.
Decent review, thank tou
isnt the classic xl and the pro 170 the exact same size?
I'm not sure, I know the 20hp isn't an option on the classic. At least that was the case when I was looking for a boat.
If you don’t mind me asking
I’m new to boating , why would you be able to mount a 50HP on the classic but not a 20hp? Thanks
@@tbrown737 It would work fine, but for some reason Tracker doesn't offer it as an option. If you build one on Bass Pros website you'll see what I mean unless they changed it.
they are the same size-the storage is a bit different
Hey,
The classic is the same hull just a different interior layout. As far as the motor size the lowest we run stock is a 40HP this is how Tracker decided to run the deal, being its a limited edition boat. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at TSHolben@basspro.com
SERIOUSLY??? a 20HP on that thing.... You need a minimum of a 75.....
The Tracker Pro 170's are only rated for a max of 50hp. I would have got that engine but the PA Fish and Boat Commission only allows 20hp max on most lakes I fish.
I have the same boat but it a 1991 model 😂 and its a tank
Up grade 40 or 50 hp 4 stroke kicker motor too slow
