- Mu'tazili thought developed in debate and discussion with the mulhids of the 7th and 8th centuries. Islam had to intellectually contend with the followers of Zoroastrianism, Gnosticism, and Greek philosophy. Find out more about these mulhids, in this episode.

Study of history can be boring, uninteresting and irrelevant, however, historic events read alongside the ideals of the time makes is relevant and interesting. It’s the ideals and the values and the drive for power and control which underpin the events that are played out in the history.
For Muslims, to understand their religion better, it’s paramount to understand the evolution of its ideas and the personalities and the events that shaped its current form we have today. Thanks again sir for the research and work in this production!

I watched Ahmed Bin Hanbal Series, also pretty familiar with historical background of Abasid Khilafat, read book by Ibn e Jauzi on this topic. They potrayed in the movie that Mutazillis were ignorant, kafir because of the issue of Quran's debate of kalima/makhlooq. Due to this issue, all other positive aspects were ignored.
That tv show is not real. Exaggerated. Ahmed bin Hanbal was not even popular among people during that time . His students made him famous and one of the imams few decades later
