exploring 1863 grade 2 listed mansion, former owner lived here since 1959
the story behind this house of why its abandoned is due to the husband passing and the women couldn't face living there any more so up and left, no this beautiful house stands to decay and vandals. and probably will face being pulled down to make a housing estate.

Oh, my gosh. I know I'm "across the pond" here in America, but this is so incredibly sad. I can see my wife doing the same as this sweet lady, whoever she was: we're in our late '60s now and if I was to pass away before she does there is no reason to stay and experience the grief a deceased loved one would leave behind. And just look at the British flags along the walls! They obviously loved their country and they loved each other. Thank you for being so respectful of their belongings, that speaks volumes.

That's one of many things that I like about Abandoned World Explorer, and that is that he is always respectful and he reflects on what in might have been like to live in that home and the lives of the people who lived there. He also treats all of their property with respect: takes nothing, damages nothing. That's the way exploring should be done!

The flags on the walls look like there was some sort of event taking place, the house might have been used as a venue... or there was some sort of party. They are just cheap party ware.

The Union flags might well have been for the Queen's golden jubilee which took place in 2002. The manor's owner died in 2003.

My Siamese cat Figaro was stolen and sold from my central London enclosed gardens and I searched and posted two hundred and fifty colour posters for four months. Finally I had a dream telling me to check with the micro chip company again and someone had tried to register him. It took another month and four hundred pounds and a long journey to “buy” him back but he is with me now aged seventeen and loved more than ever. I used the “Law of Attraction” to get him back. I bought a new basket and kept it wrapped for him and put his favourite prawns and sausages in the freezer and expected and visualised him coming back. Watch the movie “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne which describes the Law of Attraction, I.e. everything in your life good or bad is created by your own mind in particular ninety five percent by your unconscious (childhood programmed) mind. Like it or not that is how the Universe works and is how your beautiful tabby grey cat will return jumping over the fence as you are filming just like Chloe did for all of us to see and rejoice. I see him now! Watch a utube video called Law of Attraction Meditation by Your Youniverse, I watched/listened to,it for a year and am now living in my dream home as visualised! It works and it will greatly assist your talented work which we all enjoy so much and which I watch to help me wind down and sleep. Good Luck!

It is lovely to see young people so inspired by history, old buildings and past lives. I am 52 and restoring an old Victorian house and I also collect antiques not for their monetary value but because they fascinate me. I started off like you. Never stop doing what you are doing. Revisiting the past and preserving it for future generations is really important and it is done by people just like you. You see past the mess and see what it really there. I love this video.

Great Explore! You're the 1st explorer that I've ever seen, that truly respects the history of the place. No one has EVER tried to put anything back, or remove something from the floor to save it from being trampled. It is amazing to me how people can walk through a place just stepping on things without realizing what might've been.
Love your narrative and observations! Great video, thank you for your unique perspective!

I would report this house to the local historical society. They could find out, as could you, the status of the estate. It is well worth preservation and a good historical society could obtain grants and make it happen. Back in the day this was a grand home. It is sad to see the interior trashed but unfortunately we have an element in our society that is rather fond of destroying things. And you are right, they don't build homes like this today. This is a work of art.

Brigette: there are lots of our words that are different: faucet is tap here, although some in the US call them spigots, diaper is nappy, sidewalk is pavement, hood and trunk are bonnet and boot here. There are spelling differences too, one of the main ones is using z instead of s in words like realise. That's because, way back in the 1400's, we used to use z, but around the 1700's changed to using s instead. Just to complicate matters, we (that's the UK and the US both use z in some words, like capsize and seize.

I came across your channel a couple of weeks ago then forgot the name but found you again this morning!!! Back in January I had a lot of time on my hands due to a broken ankle. Know idea how I found these exploring videos but I absolutely love them!!! Being English it’s nice to see a UK ‘explorer’ so new subscriber here!! Your videos are fantastic I would love to go back in time without all this modern technology! Hope you continue to explore these forgotten, abandoned beautiful buildings! 😊

Love how you explore these places with dignity and respect to the previous owners. You can feel the emotions in your voice at times, lovely video and I'm always amazed how these places can be simply left to decay which is a terrible shame. Many thanks for a great video, as always take care........

As always with these abandoned homes with everything left in, we'd love to know the whole REAL story. Maybe it's the mystery and rumour that makes them even more interesting.
In this case, I can understand the widow not wanting to live in the house but what about the rest of the family? Why didn't they clear the house and sell it for example?

I don’t understand my life-long interest in these abandoned houses. Even as a child seeing old small abandoned farm houses as I passed by I felt sadness.
I feel sad for the house itself. Like it actually feels lonely, abandoned holding itself together against great odds that one day someone will come along, move in and love it again as it once was.
I suppose I’m projecting my own sadness and abandonment as a child.

I hope that through some of these videos some of the family sees the pictures and hopefully contacts you about them and everything. I know how much I cherish all of my pictures of my children and how much I cherish pictures of my mother and my grandmother who is no longer with me anymore! I don’t understand what the reason was and it could’ve been without her control having to leave so suddenly but I couldn’t bear leaving my home without all of my photos and memories,, after my mom died I even kept a package of her cigarettes that she never opened, one of her favorite shirts and a wig that she wore after her hair fell out after radiation and chemo. B ut my whole family tells me that I’m just a big sentimental but that’s OK!
