The red metal object screwed to the wall in the kitchen was a tin opener. It looks like there could have flats rented there years ago, which could explain why there is so many kitchens and bathrooms? Or years ago it could have staff living accommodation, or used as a hotel? Looks like the stench in the building cleared your sinuses, as at the beginning of the video you said yours were blocked and you couldn't smell anything. A few seconds later you went into a room and said the smell of decay was very strong?
I doubt you'll see this with how many thousands of comments you get, but you were at a VERY evil place in this vid. That carving you called "creepy" with the baby holding a spear is what is known as "hiding in plain sight" pedophilia. Look closely at the baby with the deer. The carving is an overt sexual act. Very bad things happened in that hotel.
I have only just started watching your videos and it's so interesting to see them. I upcycle furniture so it gives me pleasure to see the beautiful furniture
Doesn't the UK have architectural salvage companies. In the US we have companies that go in and they take out carefully take out all the beautiful things and then they sell them to people that are redoing a different property and want some authentic things. Plus it just saves them. Like all those fireplaces those mirrors that one big mirror with self for 15 to $2,000 in the US. If you don't have a salvage company in the UK maybe start one! Big money here

Has anyone else ever thought to themselves while watching these types of videos that we shouldn’t have any homeless in the world with all these abandoned homes across the world?! There should be someway to use building such as these to use as transitional housing for the homeless....especially homeless families.🤷🏻♀️
How naive!! Want to help 50 homeless people? Put them up in a hotel for the rest of their lives with restaurant chits paid for by the state. That would be far cheaper than housing them in a retrofitted money pit this would be.

I just said there are so many abandoned buildings that an organization that houses folks should be able to do something with these buildings with donations-it’s totally possible if some organization scooped these building to rehab. I also said “transitional housing” not “forever on the public’s dime” housing!🙄
@@TheSwords99 It's my understanding that in some countries they can't turn the power off. I'm not sure if this is one of them , or if there are certain stipulations like elderly people for example. I remember seeing another video where it was a similar situation, and the power was still on even though the house was literally falling down. The person doing the video was saying this.

This place is a mish mash of eras. Appears to be a complex converted into semi independent living. That tv looks very similar to the rented tv my grandparents had in early 90s. A truly brilliant find - no vandalism! Nice one 👍🏼
Part of the building was still lived in until last year... I used to live nearby and thought it was fully abandoned, got halfway to the house and it was still lived in! So strange how it's all internally connected to the rotting main house. One building still has the hot water working 😂

A fantastic find. What I think was it was turned into Apartments after the original mansion was no longer needed. Thoroughly enjoyed this very much. Thank YOU for bringing us along.
I would have loved seeing this place when in its prime. Many of these "old money" families wouldn't let the old places go even though they found that they could no longer afford them. From the tour, it appears that at some point there were areas converted into apartments and other areas just closed off. Someone had plans for the old place at some point, maybe back in the late 60s from the appearance of the decor. This was probably in a effort to save it, but they ran out of money or interest. In its final phase, it was probably passed down to the last family member, who lived out their last days there, then thrown into probate for lack of a will where it languishes. As you can see, once the roof is allowed to leak, the death knell tolls for the structure. As for the RED ITEM, at 29:36, that's mounted to the wall, this appears to be a can opener specifically made for the large institutional sized cans of food. The long lever was for initially puncturing the can and the hand crank, obviously, used for the opening function. Thanks for the interesting tour into Britain's grand old past.

Great find . Incredible old property. Clearly once a grand home and then converted into a guest house or hotel and later then to apartments to help with the up keep of such an old property. Thanks for sharing.
What a fire trap. Looks like it was an old mansion which was later converted to a gazillion apartments. Which would explain the strange layout of so many of the rooms and halls.

Mirrors help to reflect light around a room from outside to brighten it up more naturally reducing the need for lights and make rooms less claustrophobic.
With all the kitchens and baths, esp. on the 2nd floor, it seems like they were suites, perhaps apartments at one time. I saw curtains dating back to 1950's, kitchens from 1950's, and 1970's. Definitely was not a one family home right before abandonment. Whoever lived here last only lived in a small section, which explains why the decay in some parts would require decades to occur, rather than just 10 years. Beautiful job. Great explore!

Dave,What a fantastic find! These older abandonded mansions hold a lot of history behind them.Imagine paying millions on this, the decor, multi kitchens,pool,garden,etc,just 10+ years later having it all abandonded... Wonder if its original owners had servants( so massive in size). I can see why someone( at one point)_tried to save some of it to convert to hotel rooms.👍
Shelia David the house looks Georgian. They would no doubt have had staff. Even modest family homes had staff until the early 20th century, so a place like this would most certainly have had several.

It looks as though it had long term rentals with so many kitchen. It had a communal feel to it. Maybe how the lady of the house kept down the cost in her later years.
You can hear a woman’s voice saying “go clean that up”or “go pick that up” at 33:09 then a small child’s voice responds to the woman at 33:13! Awesome E.V.P.!!
I went back at that point and heard a woman too, and I hear the child now. Might be an echo from the street and the glass dome above though, if that's slightly re-assuring...!

Best exploration video I've seen, great job! A couple things: I still have that Sony VAIO laptop! LOL. I guess it's officially time for an upgrade. I'll take the cool blue/purple velvet couch at around 28:33, I love it. It will still probably last longer than today's IKEA crap. That carved fireplace surround was gorgeous, indeed. If there is a caretaker, or some other random person who appreciates the house enough to place those buckets to catch all the water...I do hope they care enough to EMPTY them once in a while. giving me anxiety, lol. Here's my take on the place. Perhaps the Widow was getting older, and running a bit low on money, so she made the wise decision to start converting parts of her house into apartments/sublets. That's what I would do. She could have made bank renting-out all those separate living areas. Lastly, I thought you were going to do a bit of Hooverin' ? Get to it, mate! The place ain't gonna vacuum itself. :) Look forward to your future explorations.
In the outbuilding, the bookshelf to your left, looked like boxes of reel to reel audio tape branded "Scotch". I'd suggest the house was divided into apartments what with all the kitchen and bathrooms and quite extensive electrical distribution set up shown earlier in the video. On a personal note, I'm in my mid forties, a lot of it looked "recent" to me, so now I just feel old! Did anyone else notice each room appeared to have a hole punched in to a wall? Some vandal's calling card?

Man!! There's so many EVP's going on its unreal. The chatter goes off the charts when you start messing with the owners shoe stash. Also experiencing cobwebs is a really good sign of spirit energy.

I believe the place was all cut up to create many suites, each with bathroom, kitchen, sitting room and bedrooms These were then let to visitors. A resort? Hotel/motel? Not sure but definitely rented out. The place after the owners area seems to be the handyman's apartment (had a couple of boys, probably wife).
What I beautiful place. I know what you mean about how it's set up. It's almost like the Winchester mansion it just has room after room. But I do think that it probably was a hi class bed and breakfast. Absolutely loved it.

This place is Amazing! Its the most beautiful mansion. I love the furniture, curtains, wallpapers, etc. I bet since that woman was alone that she made it a bed and breakfast. Cause each room has Its own bathroom. I'm a collector. I love the old record players, tv, tin, etc. I have 100 tins. I love tins. I collect many things. I'm subscribing! Did you find out anymore about who owned it and what it was actually used as .It would be nice if you could find more history on the places you adventure to .Love the way you come across ,makes me feel like you know us all .keep safe
I really appreciate that you don't reveal the property locations so that hopefully (fingers crossed) others don't figure out where they are and loot them. Showing respect to history is paramount if you are going to do what you are doing. Be safe!

I've watched this video twice and I actually think there where people there with you. It's so big you might run into each other. Lots of voices through the whole video. You are correct about the records they are old. Might be worth something if the Covers didn't have mold. It massive n in need of repair. As you said they could help with the housing shortage there. Such a waste. I believe the white zip bag was for steaming clothes. N dish washers came out in 1960s but took off in 1970s. Duel bathrooms for husband n wife. Very expensive with the marble. Very strange layout with so many pokey rooms, narrow door openings. But still fascinating so see. Lots of space to put in affordable housing. Thanks for your work. I really enjoy your explorations.
Just loved the drone work. What a weird and strange place. Seen heaps of investigations of old places this takes the cake. This appears to have been many Units, rather than Hotel accomodation with all those kitchens. Those buckets with the water dripping into them, there were not full ? or overflowing, so how long have they been there. Hoovers everywhere. But no bodies or even dead pets, except the birds.
Those glass sweet jars look like the old jars that Rose's and quality street came in years ago. My dad used to save them and use them when he was pickling onions . Love your explores x
Thanks for the best video wow. The gadget hanging on the frame in the kitchen was a tin opener. The place appears to be laid out into flatlets with their own separate rooms with kitchen and bathroom. This place is huge and just wonderful. A lot of room to move around in and a different suite of rooms to sleep in every night lol. Do you plan to come back here in a few years to see what is left? Another well put together video it’s a shame beautiful buildings are left to rot and decay there’s something quite creepy about it and dark that first part looked like the servants quarters it would have been really nice in it’s heyday

Absolutely loving this video. The place is spooky, beautiful, ugly, confusing and absolutely awesome 😎. The fireplaces are stunning and I love the movie “The Secret Garden” I really wish you would take better care of your health, we all really love 💕 you. I friggin love the time you spent on this. I often think they are way too short, and we miss soooo much. I also love the ones where there is only one or 2 explorers. Perhaps do a long and short version 😉.

Imagine inheriting that place and getting a bill for 10 years worth of electricity because someone left one light on somewhere in the house.
The utility company would have shut off service after 2 or 3 months of non payment.

Here's my take on the place. Perhaps the Widow was getting older, and running a bit low on money, so she made the wise decision to start converting parts of her house into apartments/sublets. That's what I would do. She could have made bank renting-out all those separate living areas.
Lastly, I thought you were going to do a bit of Hooverin' ? Get to it, mate! The place ain't gonna vacuum itself. :)

In the outbuilding, the bookshelf to your left, looked like boxes of reel to reel audio tape branded "Scotch". I'd suggest the house was divided into apartments what with all the kitchen and bathrooms and quite extensive electrical distribution set up shown earlier in the video. On a personal note, I'm in my mid forties, a lot of it looked "recent" to me, so now I just feel old! Did anyone else notice each room appeared to have a hole punched in to a wall? Some vandal's calling card?

I believe the place was all cut up to create many suites, each with bathroom, kitchen, sitting room and bedrooms These were then let to visitors. A resort? Hotel/motel? Not sure but definitely rented out. The place after the owners area seems to be the handyman's apartment (had a couple of boys, probably wife).
What I beautiful place. I know what you mean about how it's set up. It's almost like the Winchester mansion it just has room after room. But I do think that it probably was a hi class bed and breakfast. Absolutely loved it.

This place is Amazing! Its the most beautiful mansion. I love the furniture, curtains, wallpapers, etc. I bet since that woman was alone that she made it a bed and breakfast. Cause each room has Its own bathroom. I'm a collector. I love the old record players, tv, tin, etc. I have 100 tins. I love tins. I collect many things. I'm subscribing! I've watched this video twice and I actually think there where people there with you. It's so big you might run into each other. Lots of voices through the whole video. You are correct about the records they are old. Might be worth something if the Covers didn't have mold. It massive n in need of repair. As you said they could help with the housing shortage there. Such a waste. I believe the white zip bag was for steaming clothes. N dish washers came out in 1960s but took off in 1970s. Duel bathrooms for husband n wife. Very expensive with the marble. Just loved the drone work. What a weird and strange place. Seen heaps of investigations of old places this takes the cake. This appears to have been many Units, rather than Hotel accomodation with all those kitchens. Those buckets with the water dripping into them, there were not full ? or overflowing, so how long have they been there. Hoovers everywhere. But no bodies or even dead pets, except the birds.
Those glass sweet jars look like the old jars that Rose's and quality street came in years ago. My dad used to save them and use them when he was pickling onions . Love your explores x
Thanks for the best video wow. The gadget hanging on the frame in the kitchen was a tin opener. The place appears to be laid out into flatlets with their own separate rooms with kitchen and bathroom. This place is huge and just wonderful. A lot of room to move around in and a different suite of rooms to sleep in every night lol. Do you plan to come back here in a few years to see what is left? The first dishwasher came out in 1960 but cost a pretty penny. It became pretty common by 1970
There’s a video on here with Bette Davis using a dishwasher and it’s in the 1930s!

It was a hotel at one time back in the 1992 , we explored it back in 2009 it wasn’t as badly destroyed as it was when you went through it .

The fireplaces are stunning and I love the movie “The Secret Garden” I really wish you would take better care of your health, we all really love 💕 you. I friggin love the time you spent on this. I often think they are way too short, and we miss soooo much. I also love the ones where there is only one or 2 explorers. Perhaps do a long and short version 😉.
