This is the World’s easiest yeast bread. You have to try it to believe it! It is light, fluffy, moist and has a nice springy texture. This is a great recipe for beginners because it is so easy. It is easily sliced and works for all sandwiches, toast, grilled sandwiches, and dinner bread. You can even divide it into dinner rolls or make bread bowls for soup. With less than 5 minutes of effort you can enjoy a loaf of fresh baked bread.
John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
    Remember to PUT GOD FIRST!!!

I don't remember if I told you about how I like to eat fresh, warm bread or not, butter is okay, but I like to bake a loaf and while it bakes, I go to the garden and select a ripe beefsteak tomato and pick it. Then I take a thick slice out of the middle of the tomato (still warm from the sun). I slice the bread and slather mayonnaise on both slices to make a sandwich with the tomato. The yeastiness of the bread and the acidity of the tomato make wonderful combination that when I think about it, it makes my mouth water. Yum!😋

Well I've made sour dough without weighing it if you think about it our ancestors didn't have scales you don't either alot of people you watch on utube make it look Intimidating for new people to do but you pull it out feed it and start to making a sourdough loaf I have confidence you'll do great

    • @akadventurer7563
      @akadventurer7563 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

Well, youtubes stupid rules have deleted my long answer to this, so here goes for simplicity!
PLEASE don't worry about weighing things! We've been baking(and all other cooking) for thousands of years without weighing things, that's an advent of the last decade or so... Heck even exact measurements is an relatively new thing! Sourdough is no different, its very simple!
there are several ratios that people use to feed; starter; flour; water, 1;1;1 is the most common, 2,2,1 is common too, and that by volume is as I recall equal to a 1,1,1 by weight... My favorite flour brand at King Arthur does a 1,2,1 but I think that would be too dry.. But you could try it!
Seriously though, its not rocket science, 1/2 cup of each, water flour and starter. Take it out of the fridge weekly, discarding half(add it to pancakes or something instead of throwing it away if you want) before feeding, give it a half hour to work, then back in the fridge for a week if not to be used. When going to bake, take it out 8 to 12 hours before making dough, feed, and leave it out. It should double in volume... don't panic if it doesn't! Use what you need to bake then back in the fridge, feed first if you wish.. That easy, dead simple. All by volume. If it doesn't double with feedings, adjust your ratio a bit, might be over or under feeding-- see what yours likes.
New starter, or something that's been dormant a while will take several daily feeding to react at all, or double, give it time to get going. As far as I know you are not supposed to freeze it, but I'm not sure you hurt it either... Thaw it, warm it and feed it a few days! Once its doubling good at a feed, its healthy, try a bake. Heck, bake with it if it doesn't double, it still makes good bread!
The only time to worry is if it turns funny colors, pink, blue, green... thats bad, throw it all out and start over.
Leave it without feeding for a long time it can get a dark liquid on it(alcohol), thats fine, drain it off and feed it a few times to get it going. I've had mine dormant for a year before. Just check for odd colors or smells before starting it again.
Can dig around in the blog at king arthur flour site, they have a lot of articles for simple no worry sourdough, less kneading times, shorter proofs, relaxed feeding rituals and timing, and almost all of it without the handicap of weights... or at the lest they include Both measuring methods. I use both... if I have time I weigh it. if its a normal day I don't... it works about the same either way.
Don't worry, be happy, make bread. :)

You can trust Becky’s take on this. I actually increase the flour to 3 1/2 cups but leave the other ingredients the same. I mix it up, cover the dough and let it rise over night. And bake it the next morning. Making bread is so easy and very forgiving. Throw some raisins and a little cinnamon in it and you have a great breakfast bread. You almost can’t mess it up.

Grab a quart of cold full fat cream. Put it in a 2 quart mason jar. Shake it for a few minutes, be strong... when it starts getting real lumpy, its ready, sort of. Strain it in a sieve, keep the buttermilk, freeze it or make real pancakes instead of using reg milk. Anyhow, the butter in the sieve will just need to be washed in cold water until it runs clear. Squash it into a butter shape. Thats it.( Put a teaspoon of salt in it after you have washed the butter if you wish)
Get raw cream if you can. Good luck. Now get to making that home made jam now😂

I buy flour in bulk because we seldom buy a loaf of bread, I usually make our bread once a week. However when I'm having a rough time with my physical disabilities my son or I will pick up a loaf of bread. That probably happens about every three to four months, because if I can stand in the kitchen I will make it myself. I keep my yeast in the freezer and it last a lot longer. If you grew like I did you could bet on having biscuits or cornbread with our meals, but if momma had just given birth to one of my younger siblings daddy would make hoe cakes. A good hoe cake is as good as a biscuit when you're hungry. Jesus is the bread of life! Thank God He came to save us!

I've never been a homemade bread baker but this recipe gives me hope😊. My mother woumake bachelor bread when I was a child. After dad became diabetic she stopped making bread. She would bake it on top of the stove in what looked like an oversized omelet pan. We ate it for breakfast as biscuits n gravy. I wish I had her recipe!😢

You’ll never have to say that you ‘can’t make bread’ again !!! Go for it. I make it up before I go to bed, then bake it up the next morning. I use the exact same recipe except I use 3 1/2 cups of flour to make a bigger loaf and let it rise over night.

I made a double batch( I love bread) and omgosh.. it is sooo soft in the middle! Nice thin crunch on the outside. Ate half a loaf right out the oven lol

One hour into into the rising process.. excited! Update. I did a double batch. This bread is soooo soft on the inside. Has that thin wonderful crunch on the outside. So easy and soo good. She's right.. u can't wait til it's cool. Too hard. Good thing I made two loaves!

I just added a comment and it was immediately deleted I'm not sure why. I simply said Ezekiel bread is the only bread actually in America and it's made from sprouts which is why it is in the refrigerator. I also said all of American grains are coated in glyphosate. In addition in the 70s wheat was genetically modified and that's when celiac disease arose. So people when they go to Europe eat up the bread because it doesn't have glycerate and it's not GMO. I'm not sure about the sugar and the seed oil content in European bread but it definitely doesn't destroy the stomach and disturb the stomach like in America and it doesn't seem to put on the pounds that occurs to Americans or Europeans who moved to this country and live here and eat our bread. Now let's see if this comment is deleted? ☺️

True story Folks - one afternoon I decided to make Johnny Marzetti- many other parts of country called same dish Farmer Goulash. Had made my own noodles , went out to garden and got a nice sized onion and a green pepper used some home- butchered ground beef from cousin and a quart of home- canned tomatoes. That evening my son asked " what kind of hamburger helper is it? " Told him, I made it myself, " no really, where did you get it?" Explained that's what really homemade stuff tastes like!" Wow- why don't we have this more often?" Only excuse I had was sometimes in the hustle and bustle of life I've taken shortcuts.
But thanks to you all- & these recipes- I've shown my family what WAS GOOD about the Goid Old Days!

Thank you for this recipe. I broke it down to one-third…and I actually have a one-third teaspoon measuring spoon. I only have rapid yeast, so that’s what I used. Used my 4.5x2.5x1 inch silicone bakeware and my Cuisinart Toaster oven. It rose and baked beautifully. Initial rising time was an hour and 30 minutes for the second rising. This was by far the easiest bread recipe I have ever tried. I foresee more homemade bread in my future.

This is the second time making this delicious bread! The first time I baked it just like you - this time I thought I'd have a little fun - I doubled the recipe. I added a half a cup of organic milk powder (in the 4 cups flour + 2 tsp salt) + the 2 cups water with 2 tsp active dry yeast and 2 tsp sugar, after the yeast test I added one egg + one egg yolk. Then just as you did, I combined the wet ingredients into the dry. I put my big bowl, covered loosely and put it in my oven on proof mode (80°) for 2 hours. Then transferred to a buttered 10" cast iron pan, and I did brush the top with melted butter. Let to rise on the counter for 30 min. Put the pan into my preheated oven (350°) for 35 minutes. AWESOME recipe Becky - thank you so much for the bread recipe and the Bread of Life, I LOVE that you share Jesus and speak the Word of God so many can be saved❤️🛐🤗🙏
