Outstanding looking homemade bread. I love how it turned out. Fresh butter would be great on that bread. My dad, who turned 92, this month, said that long ago on the farm, in Alberta, his mother would make him sandwiches for his school lunch that had homemade bread, butter, cucumbers and lettuce, from the garden. He said they were so good. Cheers, Kent and Shannon! ✌️

I've taken up baking bread in a dutch oven at home in recent years, and enjoy trying different recipes. I've never baked one with eggs in the dough, but I plan to do your recipe next. It looks mighty tasty! Since this bread has some onion and garlic powder mixed in, I'd cut off a healthy slice of it and toast it with a little butter and some melted mozzarella on top with a shake of dried herbs from our garden. Cheese bread! Thank you for sharing your recipes and keep doing what you're doing!
If the bread is still warm, There is nothing better than some warm melted butter to go with it. If it is cooled off, but it’s still good and fresh, then I like a good old fashion peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The fresh bread makes it amazing! I don’t have these much anymore, but when I have a good bread like this it reminds me of being a kid again And is worth the calories as long as I have a cool glass of milk to go with it. Thanks for all you do Kent and Shan, And for always remembering us vets.
Thank you for always remembering our Military servicemen and women. For myself who grew up poor back in the late 50's and early 60's a glass of milk, simple butter and honey on homemade bread would have been a treat for us! Thanks for sharing your wonderful outdoor cooking skills, God bless ya'll..
I make bread for a local bakery and this bread looks delicious! I'm gonna have my husband get the dutch oven ready for me to try this! I would top it with fresh garden tomatoes, homegrown bacon, fresh garden lettuce, and a little dab of garlic scape pesto. Yum!
I always place a roasting/cooling/trivet rack under the bread pan to prevent burning and thick hard crust when baking in a Dutch oven or camping pots. Always enjoy your videos!

Oh man I know this is older, but I would say Warm Bread, A little Butter, and Homemade Straw Berry Freezer Jam. Oh my gosh I need some NOW. Very well-done guys Thank you as always.
There's nothing that smells so good or tastes as good as fresh baked bread! Yes, I'm one of the once a week bakers. After more than a few years, I still can't manage to let it cool completely before I have to have a slice - - or two.😄 Blessings! 💚
I add a small amount of water in a cup in the oven which adds a little steam which makes for a more delicate crust. Then butter the crust while it’s still warm ( TongueGasm )
Somebody knows old school brad making. I fill a pie tin with a half inch of water and put it on the bottom rack of the oven while the bread bakes. Old school is buttering the outer crust after the loaf comes out of the pan--it is supposed to soften the crust as the bread cools.
Awesome! I’ve wanted a bread recipe from you! My birthday is next week, I’m doing Kent’s steak and mushrooms (with herb butter) and I think I’ll try this bread with it! I’d top this with homemade blackberry jam with some butter.
Kent, sir: I've seen thousands of recipes of bread around the world, none of them were so amazing as yours. God bless you in all His glory. I just would make this recipe a bit better with half rye flour and half wheat flour. Greetings from Brazil!
It took us a couple of tries but now we make this bread twice a week and everyone loves it. We've made several of your recipes and they're all great! (still stubble with the sourdough starter though) Next up in your Carne Guisada

Hey Kent, that looks like a great, easy bread recipe. I always love the way freshly baking bread makes the house smell. It always reminds me of the holiday season. A great topping for that bread would be to smother it with garlic butter and a LOT of shredded mozzarella cheese in the last 3 or 4 minutes of baking...for that delicious, melty, goodness. Then, after slicing, serve it with some pico de gallo for a "healthy", bruschetta appetizer.
My Mother made dozens of bread a week. They didn't last too long!!! LOL Love your shirts!!! LOL When I was younger all we needed was butter!!!! God bless, take care and stay healthy!!!!
Hi Kent, Shannon, and furry pals! Thank you for sharing another fun, entertaining, and delicious recipe. We were blessed to have had two trees full of apricots this year. That meant we got to can a lot of sweet and tangy apricot jam...also known as "pure love" in our family. We're using ol' Mac & Stella Hughes' apricot jam recipe. Once our bread is cooked (minus the onion and garlic powder), we're going to be topping it with a generous amount of room-temperature butter and some of our homemade "pure love". Each bite will put a smile on your face, guaranteed! :)
Such a joy to watch you cook! I like to top my bread with some local honey or apple butter. But that loaf right there looks perfect for a grilled cheese sandwich with the garlic and onion powder in there! You have inspired me to attempt my first loaf of bread!
This looks delicious, and easy enough that I am going to try to make my 1st loaf of bread using this recipe. I think I will use a nice thick piece as the foundation of what sounds like a great "Open-Faced roast beef sandwich, with a side of mashed- taters all covered in brown gravy". Dang.. my mouth is watering already. Thanks Guys! Time to fix dinner!
We love bread: yeast, sourdough, old dough, biscuits, cornbread, w/w/out cracklin's, doesn't matter as long as we have fresh butter and blackberry jam/ preserves. Great on cornbread, too. Thanks, you two, for another great recipe and a nice giveaway.
I like hot butter and pesto on my slice of fresh bread. love the gluten jig. I use a giant electric turkey cooker to bake in, although still at 70 trying to master cast iron baking without burning. you are the master of cast iron.
Loved this video! Going to make it as soon as I get yeast. Can’t wait to see how it turns out in my cast iron bread pan. I will be topping it with fresh butter and blueberry jam. Thanks!
You're going to make me want to become a baker Kent. The pizza dough recipe was wonderful! So, I'm going to try this one also. Thanks for all you Two do!
I think a good topping for your bread would be Bagel Sesame seasoning blend from Trader Joe’s. It has sea salt, garlic, and Onion that really jazzes up a sandwich. You may need to experiment with less Garlic and onion powder in your original recipe so you don’t overpower.
There's nothing like home-baked bread. Adding garlic and onion and pouring butter into the crease on top before baking are wonderful ideas. A slice of it would be good all by itself (or just a little more butter spread on it.) You and your wife had me laughing out loud during "Storytime for the Chickens". Thank you for all your friendly and fun videos! 😊
I love watching you cook and rearrange coals to get the temp just right. Home mad bread brings families together. Thank you for all you do. I love that the dogs are included in the prep, cooking and tasting!
Heat up the skillet, put butter in, and fry a piece of that bread for about a minute per side. It would be terrific just like that, but you can add other coverings to it - I'll bet sprinkling it with either parmesan or shredded cheese would be really good. Thank you both for all your work on these clips; we've ALWAYS had great meals making your recipes.
Here’s another great Kent recipe that I gotta try. Cut that loaf up, make up a big ol’ batch of white gravy from an earlier video a go to eatin’. Couple of fried eggs and a mess o’ bacon and you’d be good to go. Don’t need Dennys when you got Kent and Shan showin’ you the way to some of the best eatin’ there is. Keep up the great work and give the “pups” a big ol’ hug. God Bless us one and all. Now I gotta get me a bigger Dutch oven.
That does look like a mighty fine loaf of bread. Very straightforward recipe too. A lot of bread amateurs overlook which slice of bread you ought to use. As professional bread aficionados, we all know that the heel is the crème de la crème of the loaf. I'd cut a nice thick heel slice, baste it with butter, and top it with some cheesy goodness. Then I'd go outside and fire up the grill and recreate the perfect grilled cheese sandwich. I'm talking about a mountain of yellow American, cheddar, mozzarella, pepper jack, and grated jalapeño along with some garlic and parmesan to top it all off. It doesn't get any better than that. Thank you for all the great recipes and God bless you, Shannon, the pups, and Gladys and the girls
My dad introduced me to your channel when I got ISS in school. Because he saw your video on the smoked beloney log. Love the food, I tried the Mama's marshmallow cranberry salad from your cookbook and fixed it for Thanksgiving. The family loved it. Thank you for your wonderful cooking and recipes.
Love the video. This bread needs to be rubbed with butter as it comes out of the stove and then cut with red raspberry jam put on it. My grandparents approve!
Hi Kent I watch you and Shannon, thank you for always mentioning and thanking service members. I appreciate it. I am a 100% service connected disabled veteran. I would definitely put homemade peach jam on the warm bread. Thanks again for the recipe. God bless you both.
Stumbled on your channel by accident but I'm glad I did. Learn something new all the time. Thanks for your cooking wisdom. You remind me of me grandad. He was an E-6 in Vietnam in charge of the mess hall... unfortunately he passed away before I realized my love for cooking and his recipes are now lost. When he was stateside the officers used to ask him to cook for their parties and whatnot. I feel like learning from you is as close to learning from him as I'll get. So thanks again
Last year I went on a road trip to visit my family and friends in Oregon and Cali. One of my favorite places to stop when traveling while I was growing up was this incredible place just north of Grants Pass, OR called Heaven On Earth. Cinnamon rolls big enough to put you in a foodie coma if you ate one by yourself... and amazing apple butter. When I went through last year I was disappointed to find they didn't have any apple butter. But I picked up something equally as amazing that I never had before! So I would spread me a good helping of Sweet Potato Butter on that bread, Kent! Thank you for sharing, brother!
This reminds me of my mom's home made warm bread with real butter and her stawberry freezer jam. The smell was wonderful. Thanks for bring back great memories
Kent… awesome video. Thank you for that Vet shout out. I served from 2000-2004. USMC. When I was in Afghanistan, I had a buddy whos mother sent us a little bread maker. We use to make fresh bread as often as we could. Better then the MRE bread. Your video reminded me of the good and bad times while in Afghanistan. The bread would make gave us a break from war and being us back home for a bit. We would all share it among our unit. How ever small of a piece we got. Thank again for the video. As far as the topping, strawberry jelly (MRE style) haha.

And put lots of Black Raspberry jelly (store bought) on it and sit back & enjoy 😊. Thank you for sharing ❤️

Hope you enjoy
What is freezer jam?
Great idea`s we never thought of doing !
What a pleasure to watch you cook and have fun, and honor our Vets-- God Bless you and yours
This is the best darn cowboy cookin' channel on the interwebs! If I had that bread I would top it with some home churned butter and some bacon. Then back to work! Thanks for a great channel and thanks for caring about us veterans. We love America and we really dig this channel.
My mom made bread once a week. My favorite was slathered with butter and topped with homemade apple butter. Never got any better than that.
First job was making bread in the mid 80s at Van Dykes BBQ here in downtown Amarillo (well it's not there anymore) but I've always love making bread. There is something special about the smell of baking bread in the house. I've been fond lately of putting some Tule Creek honey straight from Tulia, Tx
Lightly toasted with Pork Roll, egg, and cheese. And if you don't know what Pork Roll is you're in for a mighty fine treat! Another great video.
Add some butter and fig preserves..yum
OooWeee! I love me some fresh homemade bread!! Topped with warm butter and strawberry jam, there's nothing finer!!!
And I love the 'story time' with the hens, sometimes you have to remind them who's the boss!!!
I love this! I have always loved making bread. I really like Black Raspberry Jam/Jelly (whichever I have) on my bread or toast.
My late husband could eat half a loaf with that jam (I made the jams & jellies myself.
I plan to make this bread in my oven. And put lots of Black Raspberry jelly (store bought) on it and sit back & enjoy 😊. Thank you for sharing ❤️
There's nothing more toxicating than the smell of homemade baked bread. I always loved it with lots of butter and topped with a quick dip into a homemade pot of hearty thick soup. Nothing better than that on a cold winter day. Please don't pick me for the giveaway. Blessings
Look good Kent. I'd top that with some salted butter and a big spoon of wildflower honey.

Looks so good, I'd top with sausage, cheese and jalapenos! Just discovered this channel, love it!
I would love some of my homemade butter fresh from my cow Nancy on that bread!! That was great!! I have been wondering what I was going to do if I ever needed to bake bread in my Dutch oven. Leave it in a bread pan!!! Genius!! Thanks so much. You are so fun to watch! I learn so much from you. I’ve been making your smoked turkey for Thanksgiving for several years now. Best turkey ever my family has ever had. They won’t eat it any other way!
My new favorite Channel! Hello from California! Good Bless you Cowboy and Family!
I would put only real true butter! Nothing else needed. Love watching your videos. Have a blessed week.
Thanks Ramona and you as well
Add Basil and Oregano to your bread mixture plus your melted butter poured over the top. That should Italianize the taste of this recipe.
Thanks for making these videos, you have helped me so much with my Dutch Oven cooking.
