    Really cool to know the latency was better with these than... at least what you were putting them up against. This seems important to me and hadn't see anyone else talk about this.
    I just got these and modded them a bit. I am slightly farsighted apparently (can't focus on anything closer than 13" from my eyes), so the stock setup was not working for me. I added some +2 dollar store lenses. I'm not sure if this will work long term or if I will have to get the extensions they sell on ebay, but it looks great now. I get motion sick easy so more lenses could mess with me.. we will see. They also were not comfortable for my face unlike you. I added a layer of foam between the stock fabric and the goggle which did the trick for me. Lastly, Less weight seemed like a good idea so I took the battery out and extended the wire so I can mount it on the rear of the strap. Thanks for the review.
    PS. Does anyone know of a tiny screen (like 1 inch or less) I could find to hook up to a small camera directly? I'd love to put it in the corner peripheral somewhere and have the cam out the front of the goggles. Freaks me out a little that someone could walk up and I wouldn't notice. I assume people somewhere have done similar mods.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha, yeah, some goggles actually have that built in! Not sure where you can find a 1" screen... perhaps try Aliexpress...

    • @weeral1
      @weeral1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ArxangelRC Yeah good call. I am on there a lot actually.. just not sure what to get. I sort of figured that is what those newer goggles with a cam were about, when I noticed them after I had thought of this "original" idea lolz. Do they do like a PIP thing, or do you have to switch entirely to one cam or the other?.. I guess I can look that up myself. I have to find a way for this mod though, I was a martial artist for too many years to not feel awkward that someone could be right in front of me and me not know about it haha. If anyone knows of a thread where someone did a similar mod please link it... or any info. Thanks man.

    Nice review and impressive goggles. What's the image like with respect to longer distance flights with your plane?

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, I have no idea, when I think of goggles I don't really put them in the same place as long range flights! I have an antenna tracker for that. Soon I will put a Vtx on it to relay the signal wirelessly, so I should be able to use them, but it will still be via the antenna tracker. In any case it will all depend on the antenna you have on them. With a good antenna and generally turning your head in the right direction you should be able to get out to a few kms.

    Just got a set of EV800Ds yesterday. Now my VR-007 are backups and for curious onlookers.
    I was itching to order the VR-D2s due to their higher res, than the 007s, and the DVR ability. They're shaped similar to the 007s and so I hoped they'd fit as well.
    The EV800Ds definitely have a much finer fit and finish. They're only 50% more than D2s but their quality build is much more impressive. I wish they'd put the battery on the back of the head strap. Focus adjustment sliders would be welcome too but as long as I get enough sleep I can focus on their screen alright.
    For me there's maybe a quarter inch gap on each side of my nose. I don't actually mind that as I can easily find my transmitter and also double check all four blades are turning when I enable Air Mode before throttling up.
    Though the 007s fit my face better I think I made the right purchase - even if the D2s felt the same as the 007s. The 800Ds don't feel or look like "toy," goggles.
    Liked. Already Subbed.

    • @hepdidid

      In the specifications it says that it works and I don't have a 3S, didn't want to buy one just for that since 2S is supposed to work "somehow". Do you think it's just able to power it? Can't imagine how it would charge it.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is possible that a 2S would be able to keep the goggles working but without charging the integrated battery. You should have gotten an AC charger along with these, so you can charge them at home hopefully, before going to the field! I am surprised to see a person without a single 3S 2200mAh battery, as these seem to be more popular than anything else in the hobby... I myself have a dozen of those without having bought any... they just ship with a lot of stuff! :D

    • @hepdidid

      Actually I have not, don't even have such a converter... not sure if it will work... but I don't see a reason why it wouldn't! The only reason I can think of, of it not working, is if the cable you use to plug into the goggles is wired differently from what the goggles expect - for instance the goggles need a 2 segment jack, and you are using a 3 or 4 segment one, and vise versa.

      One thing related to this question for anyone looking. These goggles are native 16:9 if I am correct. So getting a 16 9 camera will give better results than a 4:3 because it will either stretch the 4:3 to be an incorrect image, or just use less pixels... as I understand it. Haven't tested any of that yet. (anyone correct me if wrong)

      Because when I fly these small races close by... there really isn't a need for a second antenna... and I am lazy to put it on there! When I fly my planes and know I will go out far, I put two antennas on.

      When I fly with circular polarization on the copter or plane, I use the stock antennas that come with the goggles... and they work pretty good! When I have a model with a linear antenna, I use two linear antennas that I got from a crappy HD system I tested... but at least the antennas were good. Sadly can't link to it, as it never made it to production!

    Eachine EV800D DVR problem
    When inserting micro SD card in goggles (not drone), a vision signal is losing after 10sec. In fact, power is automatically shut down. Then I need to press a power button to turn on. Without using a microSD card, the vision signal seems to be stable.
    My friend bought the same, and had same issue. He asked Eachine to send new one due to initial failure.
    In conclusion, please tell me how to fix a problem if anyone had same issue. I use beta flight, Beta65X HD, Frsky. Otherwise I may need to ask Eachine company to send me new one!!

For me it makes sense that all these are made in the same factory... but for different retailers. Read THIS BEFORE BUYING THE ev800d's
    I wanted a nice pair of fpv goggles and after weeks of searching, I found these. At first glance, they seem amazing! (diversity, dvr, and a good price) everything I want. After receiving and charging up for the first time was immediately met with issues. The first being the charge indicator in the top right. At full charge, the little battery icon is full (3 bars) as is should be, maybe 5 mins after it drops to 2 bars, then about 10 mins after, 1 bar. I'm sure it would last a lot longer than it indicates, but since it doesn't you are left guessing how much charge you have.
    The second big issue is the charging itself. There is a red LED that comes on when the charge is started. After about 10 seconds a green led comes on making a clicking noise and flashing very fast. I believe the green LED should only come on when the lipo Is finished charging, but since it doesn't I am left guessing when the charge is finished. Because of this issue, I under charged the battery. This caused the goggles to lose battery mid flight forcing me to take off the goggles and land LOS. Very scary! Glad I was close enough.
    Those were the big issues… i could go on all day talking about poor Menu design, cheap construction, or weak straps, but you've probably heard that before and to me that's not as important.
    DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE! I'd much rather pay another few hundred to get a pair of fatsharks then lose a $500 quad/plane because of cheap hardware.

      The goggles work fine for me. I like 'em. The fast-flashing green LED may mean you have a defective battery. Mine doesn't flash like that, and my power doesn't run down nearly so quickly.
      And really, if you have a $500 aircraft, then what are you doing with $99 beginner goggles? These are for newcomers with $80-$200 drones dipping a toe into the hobby to see if they like it.

    • @ЯрославКелдыш
      @ЯрославКелдыш 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem is this: there are no good box goggles on the market at any price, every model has some kind of problem or missing features. And I can't use fatsharks because they are too small for my IPD. I would fatshark price for good box goggles if they existed, if I can't buy fatsharks with 80 mm IPD. So frustrated!

    • @rathorrath401
