I bought the eachine DVR and an EV800, soldered it into the existing circuitry and works fine, with the spare money left of what would have costed me to buying straight-up EV800D, I bought a better receiver and antennas, everything works fine but i don't know the range of my set up because I've never lost signal so far. The EV800D is only viable if you don't have access to soldering material and or electronics knowledge.

Mark good video on comparing the EV800 to EV800D. My 2 cents on cheap googles are the main things are they should be comfortable to wear and you need to have good video. My first google was the VR-007 which was very comfortable (only 300g) but the resolution was low so difficult to tell where I was flying and was hitting a lot of ghost branches. The screen died after 4 month so I upgraded to the EV800. The higher density video was a lot better and they are close to my Fat Shark HD3 for video quality. Where they are lacking is they are heavy, 400 grams and not comfortable. They have a lot of weight way out front which you notice. I would recommend spending the extra $20 to move up to the EV800 over the VR006 or VR007 because of the better screen resolution. The game changer in cheap google might be the new Eachine VR D3 they weigh only 175 grams have a DVR and have a very high resolution 900 x 600P HD resolution. I ordered a set when they first came out for $49 they are now $59 and expected to ship in mid October. Looking forward to your review on them... John from Chicago

    I bought the EV800D's
I also have a small two antenna (not diversity) goggle just like, to compare - and for my nephews to get a ride on the quad :)
Ev800D's have a cleeeeaaaar nice picture, and it really works well with the DVR. I can check my flights, and delete them even before plugging into computer, gotta love that!
So far i'm even amazed about the range of the stock antenna's, i have swapped the super high-gain patch with a triple feed patch, and that just makes it even more smooth going around. Either in vicinity or going out on abit of range!
I will be posting some youtube vids with the DVR from my ET125 and EV800D - its actually almost ready to post straight out the goggles!

really appreciate your review though DroneRacer101 - actually convinced me :)

budget goggles are around €10 with the camera included.
lol. actually that is kind of possible the setups in many toys with "FPV" is actually something which could be made that cheap. especialy the wifi based ones since a wifi fpv system can be made insanely cheap. like with a esp32 cam or a pi pico, or for a actual manufactures much cheaper with a more dedicated chip where it could likely be build for under €3, then use a phone as receiver or small low res lcd modules but a phone in a diy boy perhaps even the box it is shipped in and then one big or 2 small lenses. and when done right and using a phone as receiver you could even include a wifi booster for the chip or the phone in the set for €10.
ofcource wifi is very bad for this in general while I have been thinking about seeing how well I could make something like that I just didn't do it and went for a real one. but for extreme budget people it might work. especially since many of the ultra budget ones with FPV either already use wifi and a phone and will be equally terrible and sometimes even more terrble. or they require you to have your own actual FPV receiver and so terrible for beginers since a fpv cam can be insanely cheap while the displays tend to be expensive.
again I went with a normal analog 5.8ghz transmitter and goggles because I want it for fun now and so want it to work well over atleast a few hunderd meters.
so the €10 was pertially a joke but also partly realistic for extreme toygrade starters since the drones with wifi FPV build in often charge a much larger premium for it than what it is worth since wifi FPV tends to be terrible in most cases without significant boosters and unrelyable but usable for many toy tc things where the device stays close to the one controlling it. for what companies ask for those wifi ones(as extra price on the product) getting a real fpv set is much better since especially when including the RC device itself the difference won't be big anymore around €40 to €50 difference and less in some cases, especially if you use your fpv set for multiple things. since those wifi ones often are build in and propetairy. just might be fun for kids to have a sub €10 FPV set(with camera using phone as display. where again it would even be possible to make it so that it includes a simple thing to watch your phone like goggles. however for bad fpv for kids and ultra low budged it would be better to use that budget to add a wifi booster to the camera and make one for the phone. or even use a low frequency high range signal to get super range at the cost of resolution and/or colour.

Ev800d is double the price of ev800. With video out mod to ev800 (costs almost nothing) and eachine dvr ev100 ($14.99) Total cost is $65. Now the question is would you pay $99 instead for added diversity? Since this is a budget goggle recommendation video, I think this option should have been mentioned with good reasons.

Have you heard anything about a possible new ev100 coming out? The original has been out for a year now, so I would think that a refresh is in order. They could probably monetize big time if they took the original, crammed the dvr into it, gave it a little larger FOV, moved the face plate closer to the lenses and offer a thinner foam (like they do now) as an accessory . Call it EV100 v2 or EV110 (if they still want to offer the original as well) and put the price at $120-140. I'm sure a lot of the original purchasers would upgrade at that price as well :)

Most people can’t, but there is some voodoo magic in the ev800d and almost everyone I have given them to have been able to see without their glasses.

If I have to choose between those I would easily choose EV800D. Manly because of diversity and DVR.
Unfortunately they not making and selling this one anymore:

This one missing just the DVR. But this one with DVR(if they will make version Three) I think could be the best box goggles. Cos everything works as should.

I still love 800D for diversity and dvr (recommended if you plan to fly outdoor)
Ev100 for those who is very storage space conscious./style/fashion

I love my EV100's. If ya askin' me they are the best option for the buck I've ran across. I will say I'd never wear box goggles. I'll go out and fly line of sight first.

That is why I love that we have both options. I prefer the EV800D but am thrilled you like the EV100.

Be warned the buttons on both of these are prone to breaking easily I broke the button on my EV800D and have cried myself to sleep every night since.

No, not which one is the best budget goggle is the question! The question which most of the older hobbyists have is, which goggle to use when farsighted. Which goggle allows to use your glasses with it, or which goggle has replaceable lenses. I think the old Hobbyking one had different fresnel lenses, but never had one to test it out. At the moment I have a Eachine VR D2. It has a adjustable lens. But still not enough to get the screen sharp. Now I have to buy small glasses which are fitting into the housing of the VR D2.
Maybe one of the reviewers can make a vid about goggles and farsighted people. On a budget of course!
Second question is, how to pick up girls between 18yo. and 25yo. easily when you are over 80yo.?
Maybe second queation should be on first place! However, just make two vids!
