It can often take many years for a great band to become popular, if they do. Don’t wait for the greats to become popular. There is an endless ocean of beautiful music for you to find, you just have to be patient and trust the deep dive process 💖💕
I do believe the caliber of talent is just not there anymore. The 80s had an incredible amount of musicians that could do it all. They were songwriters, singers and many could play instruments. The lyrics were pure poetry.
@@michaelvielhaber9342 I noticed that. I think I prefer the album version; this one is a little chaotic sounding. I looove the original simple outro, though.
The opening lines, "So I'm back to the Velvet underground, back to to the floor that I love, etc..." refers to the time before she was famous, sleeping on the floor and shopping at the Velvet Underground in hippie-era San Francisco. There are times when life gets hectic that she wished she could go back to this simpler time, "back to the gypsy" that she was.
Rob said "everything stevie does is amazing"! Within Fleetwood Mac, it is a collective effort regardless of who the lead singer is. Lindsey's masterful production and guitar playing is just as important as mick's drumming, John's brilliant bass playing and the late Christine's keyboard playing, writing and singing!
Amber & Jay, here are some other good Fleetwood Mac songs to react to: "Don't Stop", "You Make Loving Fun", "Hold Me", "Big Love", and "Tango in the Night".
Yes there are so many great non Stevie Nicks Fleetwood Mac songs. Reactors seem focus on the Stevie songs. The interesting things is, if it wasn’t for Lindsay Buckingham insisting that Stevie (who he was dating at the time) be allowed to join the group when Mick Fleetwood was recruiting him, Stevie may never have been in the band.
Yes, but for us, it's different for the first time in history. We are feeling things no other generation has felt or will ever again. It was almost mystical our time growing up and we didn't quite see that yet.
You have to give LIndsey A LOT of credit for this song. The production and arrangement is ALL HIM. ANd the guitar solo at the end is BRILLIANT. Tom petty tried to produce this song on one of her solo albums and couldn't figure it out. When he heard it on the radio he tought "wow Lindsey knew exactly what to do with this song" He deserves lots of credit.
Agreed! I always say they were a perfect match. His technical proficiency and musicality blended with her poetry is sheer perfection. He is greatly under appreciated
@@Augirl78 Christine once said - unlike her Lindsey knew how to speak Stevie. Musically it was true. Petty also said that when he got stuck in the studio with Stevie he'd call Lindsey who'd come in and say do this, this and that - and he was right..
"Sara" by Fleetwood Mac is still one of my favorite songs with Stevie's vocals. Also, "You make loving fun" is my favorite song with Christine McVie's vocals.
If you want to be fair to Christine and Lindsay, play Hold Me. Christine and Lindsay are the singers, and Stevie just stomps through the desert like she's mad over not singing. Also, Mick is painting a portrait of Stevie laying on a lounger, but he forgot to include Stevie, and it's just a portrait of the lounger. Mick also had the Stevie experience that went wrong. Oh, and Hold Me is one of their best songs, and my personal favorite.
❤Stevie wrote this beautiful song. When I saw her perform this song on tour Iast year she explained that she never wants to forget the gypsy life style which is the root of her creativity and style. She put pillows and fabric on the floor as her bed. Even though she can now afford better furnisings.......she still keeps her gypsy spirit.
I'm sure Fleetwood Mac was fine before they expanded the group but when you add a singer like Stevie Nicks and a guitarist like Lindsey Buckingham, who IMO is one of the most underrated guitarists in rock history, you can't help but be infinitely better.
@@stevebuckland2053 Neither Buckingham Nicks nor Fleetwood Mac was anything remotely special before they merged. Supergroups are usually made up of great musicians from pre-existing great bands.
@@jthomann71 You are correct, like you said, usually...You actually made my point, that's how special the talent and merger was. They completed each other. I know the classic definition of 'supergroup". Like I said, just my opinion.
One of the few times I would say watch the video, someone had their eyes closed the whole time...Yes, great, great song, Lindsey on guitar...The Velvet Underground is a store in the bay area where Stevie wanted to shop but could not afford, when her and Lindsy were poor. Their bed was on the floor, she decorated with lace and paper flowers. A few years later, they were famous and millionaires. She could now buy the store but she never forgot how poor they were and how free they were.
Pure class, pure art, and pure talent. This is when superstars were exactly that. One had to stand head and shoulders above the rest. By 1982 Fleetwood Mac had established themselves as music industry royalty. I was 9 years old and I took the bus with my sister to downtown Dundee, Scotland. We bought the Mirage album. Here I am in my New Jersey home with it sitting on the turntable.
One of the best bands and one of the best songs ever written in my opinion. Stevie is a beautiful soul!. The vibe is incredible. The song is just about the free and fearless side of our personalities. When we are young we tend to be carefree and we take life in and not to let that go.
I met this legendary band back in the early 2000's, they performed at the FEDEX forum and stopped by the shop i was lucky enough to work at and grabbed some food and coffee, I was so star struck, and I knew I wouldn't meet Christine McVie only because this was during the "Say You Will" tour and she had left the band and took a break. I yelled out "Gypsy is my all time favorite video you guys ever done, Stevie turned around as she was walking out of the door and replied "It was a magical time!"
I love how Stevie uses her ballet studies in her dancing. She is truly a gypsy in personality and as dancer. You can never go wrong with Fleetwood Mac. Christina McVie R.I.P.
This is 5-6 years post their break up. Then again it felt like they were breaking up for decades. They were still writing songs about each other in the 2010s!
One of the best videos Fleetwood Mac ever made, with Stevie at her prime and most beautiful, and you kept your eyes closed the entire time. I've been waiting for your reaction, considering how much you claim to love Stevie. I love Stevie, too, and have so for decades. I don't think i could have ever kept my eyes closed during a Stevie Nicks video like that, ever.
Always loved this one. Yes, Lindsey's guitar's playing sounds like there's more than one guitar playing. If you want to see the best example of him doing this, play his "Big Love" from their concert The Dance. It will blow you away!
Jay...you miss so much of the video when your eyes are closed. Amber experienced the video, along with the music. The way it was meant to be seen and heard.
Ohhhhh…Boy…YOU JUST MADE ME SMILE 😃..this one of my absolute favorite Fleetwood Mac songs, especially the black and white scenes. I absolutely love the clothing during that era….and Yep…I have her dance moves memorized since my teen yrs! 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻❤️
This is my absolute favorite video. Stevie looks beautiful here. "Gypsy" was written for her long time best friend Robin who died of leukemia just days after giving birth to a son. Stevie then married the baby's father, which only lasted months. Later she also put 'Matthew' Robin's son, through college...
Jay should open his eyes whenever there's a video or live performance. He misses so much visually that Amber absorbs. Sure, if it's just a photo still or lyrics page, close those eyes and get lost in the sounds. But Jay often misses out much more than Amber.
This video shows how Stevie was able to do those quick turn spins of hers. Ballet dancers employ this technique they call spotting. As they pirouette, they keep their body moving at a fairly constant speed but try to fix their gaze on one “spot,” varying the speed at which they rotate their head. They hold it in place and then quickly whip it around at the end of each turn, minimizing the time their head is rotating and limiting any nystagmus. Learning to spot may offer ballet dancers an even broader benefit: a 2013 study suggests that the training might teach their brain how to suppress dizzy signals at their origin, the inner ear. You can see Stevie doing this clearly in the mirror.
That's all Lindsey's guitar - the wind chime sound, the xylophone sound - all guitar. Also his arrangement and production. If you hear an odd or unique sound on a Rumors 5 album it's 90% Lindsey. Stevie wrote this from 1978-79 intending it for her first solo album. There's an hour long vid on YT and you can hear all the various different versions, including a rocking one with Tom Petty. None of them compare to the magic in this one - which is why she decided to save it for Lindsey and FM.
For everything to happen to bring Lindsey and Stevie together with what remained at the time a struggling Fleetwood Mac and turn them into a worldwide power, when they didn't even WANT Stevie... it boggles the mind to think of how close to never becoming what we listen to today almost happened.
Uriah Heep's Gypsy is also one you should get into! Their first single and one of the first heavy metal songs still rooted deep in acid rock with Ken's organ work. Live it could take up 15-20 minutes and even 55 years later it is still a part of their set.
She wrote this about her best friend, Robin, who died of cancer----the Gypsy in the song is Robin. Stevie has said that the chorus "lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice and it lights up the night"---is about how once or twice in your life you come across a friendship that powerful.
I love the imagery in the music video..black and white old timey, the bedroom where she dances, and the fantasy mountain scape...pure 80s magic. I relate so deeply with the dancer and performer within the White Witch of Stevie! ❤
This might be my favorite Fleetwood Mac song. Every time I hear it I love it more and more. And this is easily one of the most beautiful videos ever made. Just such a wonderful, dreamy ambiance, especially with the Maxfield Parrish homage on the cliffside. Lovely.
To my ears, almost every Fleetwood Mac song is like a beautiful dream. Very lush sounding with gorgeous backing vocals and, when included, equally lush strings in the background. They really crafted “fairy tale-esque” sonic masterpieces.
"You can go your own way " is another great Fleetwood Mack bop. Nick, Christine, Stevie, and Lindsey are genius together. You should research the bands interesting/messy "entanglements". Love Stevie's stage presence, and gypsy vibe. 🎵🖤🖤🖤
Beautiful….one of my favourite Stevie songs…I saw Fleetwood Mac in concert once and she introduced this song with a nice story about a time when she was struggling with all the band’s and her success and she felt so badly that she just wanted to go back to her gypsy days….
Always loved this song and that guitar lick from Lindsey at the end is absolutely beautiful. I remember learning that part and playing it over and over because of how cool it sounds (esp. in the context of this song) and how fun it was to play. You have to react to "I'm so afraid" and "Never goind back again" by them. This showcases some of Buckingham's amazing guitar work.
Look, I love Stevie. She’s great. A true rock star. Somehow, you’ve locked in on her songs when literally 70% of their top hits are with Lindsey or Christine on lead. Would recommend that you listen to Rumours beginning to end in one sitting and you’ll be baffled how great each track is and how well each flows to the next.
Fleetwood Mac's "Say You Will" is one of their final singles. Stevie on lead vocals. Excellent song. Christine McVie's final solo single was "Friend". I think it's her best song.
Hands down my favorite Stevie led Fleetwood Mac song. This would be on my deserted island disc!! ❤️❤️ To the Gypsy that remains... That faces freedom with a little fear.... I have no fear... I have only love. And if I was a child, and the child was enough.... Enough for me to love.... Enough to love!
For me, this may be my favorite song by them. The beauty of each aspect of the song is unmatched. Truly one of the best. The guitar is just the cherry on top
Yes! The live version of "Everywhere" from The Dance album is excellent. And I just love hearing Christine McVey introduce the song in her accent "Next we have a song from our Tango in the Night album entitled, Everywhere".

♥️✌🏼😎🇺🇸
I saw the also in 1975. August in Oakland. Day On The Green, Robin Trower headlined, with Dave Mason, Peter Frampton, Fleetwood Mac and Gary Dream Weaver Wright. Incredible show and lineup. The British Invasion, The British are Coming was how it was billed, By the Great late Bill Graham. Outdoor Concert. Summer of 75, a very Magical Year. I was 18, Just graduated high school 2 months before this show.
@@Fritzw75 for me it was October 12, in a student union hall at The University of Pittsburgh @ Johnstown PA.
Opening band was The Amazing Rhythm Aces, and I was just 17 years old. ✌🏼😎🇺🇸
You lucky people!
Why can't we have beautiful music be popular like this nowadays??
There are beautiful songs just not as much. Try Lucy Rose ‘ Over When it’s Over’ just beautiful.
Because gypsy is a derogatory term nowadays.
There's an extended mix where Lindsay's solo is longer at the end. Amazing way to close the song.
This solo is also different from the album version
@@michaelvielhaber9342 I noticed that. I think I prefer the album version; this one is a little chaotic sounding. I looove the original simple outro, though.
The opening lines, "So I'm back to the Velvet underground, back to to the floor that I love, etc..." refers to the time before she was famous, sleeping on the floor and shopping at the Velvet Underground in hippie-era San Francisco. There are times when life gets hectic that she wished she could go back to this simpler time, "back to the gypsy" that she was.
My fav Fleetwood Mac song. Lindsey’s guitar solo here is next level ridiculous.
Exactly this.
Her voice is a combination of beautiful and edgy at the same time.
She’s completely authentic with her voice and delivery
Stevie had the most haunting female voice ever. Thanks guys 👍🎸🎶
What about,"Albatross". That would shake them.🤣
I use a clip from Lindsay's live solo version of "Big Love" as one of my alarms!
Yes, the genius of Lindsey Buckingham's guitar playing!
One of my favorite songs! Many of us would like to go back to the "gypsy " of our youth
Yes, but for us, it's different for the first time in history. We are feeling things no other generation has felt or will ever again. It was almost mystical our time growing up and we didn't quite see that yet.
That sweet, SWEET guitar at the end. It’s never long enough…🩷
Ikr. It'd make a great ringtone.
What I love is that there are no vocal effects like they do now and with singers back then as well. It almost sounds like she’s singing live.
I agree. You can always hear a Lindsey Buckingham touch all over any song that he had a heavy hand in making. Very distinctive style.
When released, the Gypsy video was one of the most expensive productions. Fleetwood Mac at their harmonious best. Great choice!
Agreed, Hold Me is great - wonderful song and duel vocals and amazing arrangement and production by Lindsey. Lindsey not Mick was the painter.
@@caps689 Oh. Okay. I thought I saw Mick doing that.
@@BlackHatCinephile Mick was with John - for some reason digging in the desert for guitars.
@@caps689 Those guitars looked too nice to be treated that way.
Released in 1982 written by Stevie Nicks around 1979.
that sound you hear - that rings like a xylophone - is lyndsey's guitar...
I think they may be referring to the tack piano that Christine is playing. It's a little hard to figure out just what sound they are talking about.
I saw her live two weeks ago at the ages of 76 in London, and she was AMAZING!!! She’s still got it!
“The gypsy still remains!” ❤️
I'm sure Fleetwood Mac was fine before they expanded the group but when you add a singer like Stevie Nicks and a guitarist like Lindsey Buckingham, who IMO is one of the most underrated guitarists in rock history, you can't help but be infinitely better.
I think they merged to become a supergroup, that's just my opinion.
SO HERE YA GO JAY & AMBER, HERE'S ( 3 ) FROM THE 75 ALBUM ( FLEETWOOD MAC )😊 OVER MY HEAD, WORLD TURNING, I'M SO AFRAID 👍NICE THAT THIS WAS RELEASED!💯
BTW, the other members of the band, Christine, John and Mick are all through this fantastic video.
Stevie Nicks and Kate Bush both have the voices and personas that just seem to come from some other world. Always so haunting and unique.
One of the best bands and one of the best songs ever written in my opinion. Stevie is a beautiful soul!. The vibe is incredible. The song is just about the free and fearless side of our personalities. When we are young we tend to be carefree and we take life in and not to let that go.
My sister put Rumours on the stereo in 77 and ive been a fan ever since
I met this legendary band back in the early 2000's, they performed at the FEDEX forum and stopped by the shop i was lucky enough to work at and grabbed some food and coffee, I was so star struck, and I knew I wouldn't meet Christine McVie only because this was during the "Say You Will" tour and she had left the band and took a break.
This video was shot whilst Stevie & Lindsey were going through their bitter break up which makes those dance scenes even more amazing!
I remember this song from June 82, when we first got cable tv and saw it one MTV and Hold Me too. Yes, I have one of those weird memories.
Can I just say, Stevie looks absolutely gorgeous in the music video to Gypsy 🥰
My absolute favorite FWM SONG. I have always identified with this song. It’s my soul.
That's all Lindsay Buckingham arranging that music some of his best guitar work.
This song is one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac-Stevie songs. It never gets old and has the best vocals in my opinion. Now you need to listen to Sara!!
Jay ALWAYS misses everything! It really frustrates me. At least we can see Amber reacting to the videos! She really catches a lot!
@@susanholly007yes it just tore me up he missed my favorite music video of all time that I have been requesting and waiting for for over 3 years!!!!
One of my favorite bands and songs by them. Also Stevie Nicks is top 3 favorite female rock lead singer and I'm only 40
This video shows how Stevie was able to do those quick turn spins of hers.
Very luck twist of fate that Fleetwood was handed the Buckingham Nicks album to listen to.
Her voice gets me everytime... Stevie was my star crush thru High School in the 70s. Gorgeous lady with an equally gorgeous voice
The guitar work by Lindsey at the end makes this song
Lindsey Buckingham's guitar work in this song is, as always, amazing. I still can't believe the man can't read music -- or that the group fired him.
When they “ fired “ him , I knew that I would never see FM as a whole group live again, and then we lost Christine 😭😭😭😭… RIP 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I love the imagery in the music video..black and white old timey, the bedroom where she dances, and the fantasy mountain scape...pure 80s magic. I relate so deeply with the dancer and performer within the White Witch of Stevie! ❤
I read somewhere that they actually shot a Civil War type vignette, but Stevie felt the costumes didn't flatter her.
This might be my favorite Fleetwood Mac song. Every time I hear it I love it more and more. And this is easily one of the most beautiful videos ever made. Just such a wonderful, dreamy ambiance, especially with the Maxfield Parrish homage on the cliffside. Lovely.
This is stevie nicks displaying her phenomenal vocal talent and the musical arrangement is superb as well.
Stevie Nicks is a Gypsy Goddess. I've loved her for almost 50 years.
Now you know why this album was the best sold album in the 70’s -80’s
This was off of Mirage, not Rumours. Mirage had very disappointing sales, but it's a fantastic record.
@@btgiv6009 ok thanks .. its been awhile ..
This song is my favorite of all there songs! It’s instrumental choreography is amazing ! I’ve listened to it for 40 yrs and never grow tired of it!!!
Cher's was "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves." Great song as is this one. Fleetwood Mac was fire in the 70's and 80's, they still are.
Look, I love Stevie. She’s great. A true rock star. Somehow, you’ve locked in on her songs when literally 70% of their top hits are with Lindsey or Christine on lead. Would recommend that you listen to Rumours beginning to end in one sitting and you’ll be baffled how great each track is and how well each flows to the next.
lindsay buckingham made stevie mcnicks
thin vocals propelled by awesome guitar and arrangement
thank god for christine as background weight
sorry-nicks
Getting back to the gypsy that I was…. I still see your bright eyes… You can’t go wrong with Stevie or FM!! 🖤🕊️🎩🔮
To the Gypsy that remains...
Perhaps my favorite Fleetwood Mac tune. The live version of "Everywhere" is great too.
Yes! The live version of "Everywhere" from The Dance album is excellent. And I just love hearing Christine McVey introduce the song in her accent "Next we have a song from our Tango in the Night album entitled, Everywhere".
Christy’s backing vocals are Amazing as well !❤️
You have to watch the live version from Midnight Special June 1976! One of the most feeling and awesome performances by Stevie and the whole band!! Great stuff and live!!!❤️RIP Christine!
One of my favourite Fleetwood Mac tracks, there are so many please play more in the future, we're so lucky to have grown up with them playing throughout our lives!
This video captures the aura of the lead singer/character like no other. She is fascinating!
Jay's missing all the beautiful video shots-lol
Yes😢 drives me crazy!
Hi , you haven't played any of the (Original Fleetwood Mac) songs like ALBATROSS , Man of The World, Black magic Woman and Green Manalishi yet. Check them out 😊
I believe the xylophone you heard was actually Lindsey on guitar. :-)
Great to see young people that know their 70’s rock! Best decade ever! 🤷🏻♂️😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
John McVie and Mick Fleetwood are the tightest rhythm section in rock
Love Fleetwood Mac, one of my favorite bands of all time! Stevie Nicks is my favorite female vocalist of all time!! ✌️❤️🎶
In one section, Stevie sings
"She was just a wish."
When I was a teenager, I thought the lyric was
"She was just a witch!"
Lol :D
we would sing that and do the "wishes honor" hand signal from Bewitched TV show.
I'll never forget when MTV kicked off!!!
It was so cool getting to watch the videos and being able to relate them to the music!!!
Without a doubt one of the best voices and songs in the entire world.
I was in love with Stevie Nicks growing up watching her sing and move so gracefully. Her eyes that gorgeous blonde hair. That voice 🤩 beautiful ❤
