You should watch the documentary on “Classic Albums” of the making of this Album Rumours. Listening to all the band members tell their story it's quite sad. But they made a classic brilliant album
This song has great lyrics and a brilliant lead vocal by Stevie. Buckingham's arrangement, production and the band's playing is integral to making this an utterly unique and powerful piece of music. Though she does the wails in concert those end shrieks are Lindsey on the album. Stevie as per usual has several different stories about GDW - the most accurate probably being "I don't know". 😅 It's a mix of this as are many of her songs. She said the rulers make bad lovers was about herself. In the 70s she said it was about the groupies that followed them around and gave all the men in the band attention while ignoring her and Christine. It's about addicts - take your silver spoon/dig your grave but this wasn't about her addiction to coke. She's just started using during the making of Rumours. Stevie said she had no idea that would be her in a year.
this came out when I was in high school and I had an English teacher who was such a fan she had us listen to Rumors album for 4 days then write a report on our interpretation of a song of our choice. So that was a nice week of listening to music.
As with most Fleetwood Mac songs, if you dig the vibe of the song, and the way the instruments sound together and enhance the vocals, etc., then it's Lindsey Buckingham you should be thanking. He, more than anyone, is responsible for the overall Mac sound and all the cool arrangements. Dig the spooky guitar throughout this song, and how much less impressive it would be without his guitar stylings and hand in all of the instrumentation and backup vocals.
Love how you guys love how the song ended. Back when this album was released in 1977 there were 4 key songs for every album by every band. Song 1 on both sides of a record & the final song on both sides. Second Hand News opened the album, Songbird ended the A side. The Chain opened the B side of the album with Gold Dust Woman concluding the B side & album.
❤❤❤❤❤ So many truly awesome songs from them! Chain, Tusk, Second Hand News, Go your own way, Blue letter.... To name a few! 🌞🎶💃 I often play them when I want to run away into my musical forest! 👣🌲🌿🎶💃💜♥️💓
I always loved that ending outro. It's like Stevie is at some cauldron at the end of the evening pouring her heartache and heartbreak into summoning some spirit to rectify her soul through discreet vengeance! Great reaction as always, guys!
I remember when I first bought this album in 1978 I was blown away. I must have played this album 100 times in the first week. I've been in love with Stevie since.
You SOOOOO need to see her sing this live! So many times I wish you two would listen to a studio version before watching a live version of so many songs you do - but you really need to see her live performance of this one - it is truly her legacy tune … trust me
it is like a scene in a movie. Main character lady is on a train with a long ride through the snow, going up the mountain. A montage of thoughts and flashbacks going through her head, a distillation of the dilemma of her desperate love and his bitter betrayal, as she decides whether to "f*ck, marry, or kill" the man waiting there for her.
Amazing that such a great iconic album was also the perfect recipe for disaster - affairs within the band plus enough coke to kill an elephant. How they stayed together to make more albums after this is still a "mystery to me".
I truly hope you find yourself listening to Fleetwood Mac's Live version of "Big Love". Grab the version off the live album "The Dance". It's just Lindsey Buckingham, his guitar, and vocals that are all epic.
Saw Fleetwood Mac at the Isle of Wight festival 2015. Thousands of people standing there looking at an empty stage and then a helicopter swoops in lands behind the stage, the band appear and start banging out tunes.
It's a mesmerizing song with Mic's metronomic drumming and Lindsey's amazing steel guitar work, stretching and bending those notes to bend them around your brain.
You should give these album tracks a try, Stevie's "Straight Back", Christine's "Warm Ways" & Lindsey's "Big Love". But you can't go wrong with any Mac tune.
She opened many of her shows with this song. She'd step out in the spotlight of a dark stage in either flowing white or black with angel wing sleeves and, by the end, would be twirling around like a dervish.
✨✨Love Fleetwood Mac!!! Legendary! Among many others of theirs~Y’all have to watch their last concert performance together. The feelings are pouring out on stage LIVE! Concert is called “The Dance.” A must watch/listen.✌️💯✨✨

One of the most stunning songs... The sounds ape the band creates and especially Lindsey is next level.
Thanks Amber for always listening.
Saw Stevie in November. My God. Outstanding. This song live? You would not believe it!!!
One of their best albums. Someone suggested Tusk, great song. Thanks for the smile.
❤❤❤❤❤
So many truly awesome songs from them! Chain, Tusk, Second Hand News, Go your own way, Blue letter.... To name a few! 🌞🎶💃
I often play them when I want to run away into my musical forest! 👣🌲🌿🎶💃💜♥️💓
Such great harmonies, too.
The live versions from the 70's are epic...Stevie goes OFF!
I always loved that ending outro. It's like Stevie is at some cauldron at the end of the evening pouring her heartache and heartbreak into summoning some spirit to rectify her soul through discreet vengeance! Great reaction as always, guys!
Stevie Nicks is like a gorgeous witch, someone who can spellbind you into loving her. The charisma she has is off the scale.
Every single song on this album is perfect!
Best group ever!
I remember when I first bought this album in 1978 I was blown away. I must have played this album 100 times in the first week. I've been in love with Stevie since.
The Rumours album was just one terrific song after another, love this song in particular. This album was a masterpiece. 😎🍺☮️
You SOOOOO need to see her sing this live! So many times I wish you two would listen to a studio version before watching a live version of so many songs you do - but you really need to see her live performance of this one - it is truly her legacy tune … trust me
years ago in the 80s my friend said that this song reminded her of me - i always thought it was a compliment
back to being 16 years old every time I hear that album
it is like a scene in a movie.
I would love to see you two do an entire listen through of the whole Rumours album from start to finish. A whole reaction.
That's a great idea. This album is the 9th best selling album of all time, TRULY every song is great.
Haunting is the word to describe this song. Hands down my totes fave Mac tune. Gives me chills a half a century later!
If you’re going to see Stevie, check out Sara by Fleetwood Mac, she is singing it on this tour.
JAY AND AMBER, This is my favorite fleetwood Mac song! I would make the guys at work shut up when it came on the radio.
She still does this song live on tour. I saw her in concert last year and this song was ABSOLUTELY ELECTRIC! She still rocks at 75 yrs old!
When we visited the USA in 2022 we visited the studio where that album was recorded... Amazing album and one of my all time favourites...
Rumours was my first ‘adult’ album moving from singles as a teen. 45 years later I still love to listen to Every. Single. Song.
Every song on that album is great
One of the crispest, best recorded/produced albums ever.
Next by them from the Tango In The Night album a brilliant deep cut called Isn’t It Midnight.
It’ll grab ya and won’t let go.
I thank my mother for my love of Fleetwood Mac - Rumours is one of the earliest album I can remember.
This is one of my favorite songs the Stevie Nicks sings. She is so in control of her voice. She is such a talented artist. Amber, I love your t-shirt!
Rumors is such an amazing album and a lot behind the scenes. Thanx so much, stay groovy, Peace
Every song on the Rumors album is perfection.
Sara by Fleetwood Mac is a needed reaction
And the chorus is her and Lindsey singing together. The whole album was truly a stunning piece of work.
Saw Stevie a year ago this past September. She hasn't lost a beat and still sounds phenomenal.
Much love from Maine and keep doin what ya do ❤
I love this song... I love this album... I love this band.
You guys should really watch the Lindsey Buckingham solo version of Big Love from their Live Concert! He does an AMAZING guitar during it!
This song is a staple in her live concerts. She does a crack dance during the show. Love her.
One of my favorite bands of my teens and twenties. Rumors was definitely their best album.
I think you should do some of Lindsey Buckingham's solo work - "Holiday Road", "Go Insane", "Countdown", "Don't Look Down" - he is as talented on his own as he was with Fleetwood Mac.
Also his live performance of Big Love (a Fleetwood Mac song) at Saban Theatre is unbelievable
