Yes, jighead weight is determined primarily by depth of water and depth the fish are hanging out. I'm fishing 15-25' and the fish are mostly low in the water column, so I find 1/4 oz jighead suits me well. If you were fishing deeper water or heavier line or windy conditions, you might need 3/8 oz (or more).
