    I bought a 2013 SI with 19k miles on it, and within the first two weeks of owning it one of the V Tec rockers slipped on the cam shaft and seized up the head. Fortunately it was under factory warranty and they replaced the entire head. Had it for 8 years now, several mods later, and not one single issue with it ever since.

      Daddy Joshh no non really only thing was the infamous throw out bearing noise everyone gets but that hasn’t been the biggest deal it’s just noisy car has been super reliable. My specific one was modified before I got it because when I went to go look the battery was relocated farther down in the engine in missing fender liner, the car had side skirts, and it had a PRL short ram intake having seen all that I still decided to get the car because I’m mechanically inclined and was positive if anything went wrong I could fix it, so far so far only things I’ve had to do were injector O rings and oil changes, I beat on the car all the time and she stays reliable won’t running good 👌🏽

    Great video. Couple months ago I got an 8th gen and had it for two weeks, then someone crashed into me and totaled it. I got a nice insurance check and was able to get my 2014 Si. Both generations have their ups and downs and not sure which gen I like better, but I do love my 9th gen and I'll be sticking with it for now.
    I definitely second with you about a failing battery causing weird issues. On my way home from picking up the car right when I got it, a few minutes apart from each other "Check starter system" and "Check DRL system" messages came up. The next morning the battery was dead. I jump started the car and the iMID screen would not come on for the life of me after that. I wish I saw this video before I got the car and maybe I wouldn't have been as sick to my stomach during all that lol. Needless to say I got a new battery that afternoon and the iMID screen came back on and haven't had a weird message come up ever since.

    I knew some people that got 2015 models for 15k with 40k miles back in 2016-17, the ones I am looking at have between 101k-130k... I really love civic Si's and want one so bad, it's better on gas and more practical for me. But jeez the inflated prices are just crazy. So if you smell a organic burning smell; but all your gears are good check your horizontal differiental as they buried it inside the transmission casing towards the rear in its own sub compartment. Mine was the ball bearings inside broke and grinded to dust heat welding themselves. Of course dealers didn't know shit saying it was my clutch. If the rpms raise while the handbreak is engaged, its a bad clutch. When they drop and the car doesnt move, the the car should stall out - rpms drop, This test is pointless if the e break is heavily worn.

    Ugh, those Honda dealerships... I brought my 2012 SI coupe to one to get an oil change during a "promotion", and those stupid salesmen won't stop calling me and asking me to sell it. Honda is pulling a stupid move, with ending having manual transmissions in their new cars, and also having those shitty tiny little engines with a turbo, to replace their more powerful 4 cylinder engines. The more complex the engine, the more shit that's going to break down...

    Hey bro,
    Adjust your valve lashing on your lifters and change your timing chain tensioner.
    Please head my warning as I’ve owned one since 2012. Your engine sounds exactly like mine and had all kinds of power and ran it’s best right before it let loose and gave me a faulty ignition coil code.....then it proceeded to drop a valve.
    Stage two clutch max clutch with lightened flywheel, 3 inch downpipe and the 3 inch polished stainless exhaust is probably some of the best mods you can do.....as well as either putting the factory air box back in with a k&n air filter (it’s loud don’t worry) or putting a cold air intake down by the fog light area....because that set up there actually makes you lose performance over the stock set up, due to the heat you’re sucking in.
    The timing chains tensioners are known to fail and the valve lashing on the intake side needs to be adjusted for your vehicle. (It’s very common on the 9th gen to need to adjust the intake and not the exhaust)
    0.008 IS THE MAXIMUM YOUR GAP SHOULD BE.....THE MAXIMUM they come from the factory at a clearance of .0015 to 0.003 thousands of an inch. (I’m in Canada and my buddy works at the factory) (some guys will tell you that is too tight and when stuff gets hot it swells....well it does, but everything grows together...so you’re fine)
    Anyway, lmk what you decide, I git a 9th gen build I’m doing on my channel if you wanna see it. It’s gonna be mint when completed.

    • @zoovie
      @zoovie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      12’ motors had those problems and bad oil consumption , they made the 14-15 motors better and slightly more reliable .. yes I know know about the intake .. I chose that setup just for noise & i had a skunk2 CAI , sold its because it floods in south Florida .. and the car been maintenance by Honda. Jus sounds a little louder in the video cause of my camera.. it amplifies sounds but I can insure you , the car is perfect. But thanks for writing that bro I’ll definitely heart it so everyone can see

    • @weldorguy
      @weldorguy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zoovie i think it was the rear main seals that were shit on those two years.....i had the same problem for years and found the big oil leak from the rear main....and the consumption never changed.
      Seriously tho, adjust your intake to .004 at least and do the tensioner at 100,000 miles....its the cheapes insurance you can do. Its 3 bolts to take the insoection plate off, and you can remove and replace it from there (super easy job)
      I also clean my vtec screen from time to time too....just to keep rverything in tip top shape. ;)
      Thanks for the love on my comment...
