      Tempting, for sure. But if you're looking for a long-term vehicle, going clean and paying a couple grand more will pay off and be worth it. These cars go on forever, and if you get a clean one (no accidents and well taken care of), you can be confident that you'll drive it into the ground 200,000kms later.

    Interesting. So you must be in Canada, because in researching these cars I have found that the US market FG4's have the base-model HVAC controls while the Canadian market, where these were made, got the more upscale HVAC interface, the one with the little LED readout. It's weird because you would think the highest-trim Civic would have gotten the nicer interface even in the US. My FG3 has the nice one, and my FG4 has the one with just knobs and buttons. My guess was that Canadian Si's were given the upmarket one because that's the one that's wired for heated seats, which the American cars didn't get. I actually like the base controls because it allows you to control the temperature without having to turn the fan on. They also removed the AUX input by the time the '14's were released and replaced it with.....an HDMI input, of all things. Wish I had an AUX input

    I bought my 15 sedan at a Toyota dealer and stalled also as I was pulling out 😂. I would also say the 10th gen could suffer from head gasket issues. No reason for a turbo to make same power and possibly have coolant mixture issues. Only thing I don’t like about the ninth GEN is the nervous twitchy steering feel

      I’m taking care of mine and keep it stock as it’s fast enough for my likings. I imagine keep it stock and never wringer driving it, the value of this car will increase in time. I could see this being collectible like the S2000z

    • @themockalove
      @themockalove  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would definitely disagree with you about being anywhere near the S2000 collectible appeal. It is very mass produced and very commonly found. The opposite of rare or collectible. But they do hold their values quite well on the used market if unmodified, clean title and rust free.

    • @cherokeefit4248
      @cherokeefit4248 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe but the 9th gen is amazing and parts are always going to be around. Honda scrapped the 10th gen long time ago and parts aren’t even there and I doubt the demand for aftermarket to be made is going to be huge. The days of getting natural non turbo engines is a rarity. My 2000 Xj I bought 6 years ago has jumped way beyond what i paid. I see clean stock ones going for $16,000 US. The si will surely climb in value in my eyes anyway.

    • @themockalove
      @themockalove  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it will take some time for the 9th gen to climb up there in value. But it's very likely that the naturally aspirated K24 is more reliable than the 10th gen 1.5L.

    nice video... how's the ride?... thinking of getting one. trying to decide between that and a 2012 accord 4cyl. but i'm old and i also want a decent ride. ; and i've heard the accord might have a better ride.

    • @themockalove
      @themockalove  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The accord is definitely a bit more comfortable. But that's not to say that the civic is uncomfortable. Both are very good daily vehicles, with the civic si being on the sportier side, whereas the accord is focused on comfort. My gf has a 2011 Accord 4 cylinder. It's painfully slow to me, comparing with the Si. Even though they have very similar engines.
