Thank you! I just did this. I rescued Erick and then went back into the ship and took out ecliptic. I didn't save just to be sure I could still get him. She said she was happy to have the ship and Erick back so I quickly fast traveled to the entrance of Cydonia. Erick was walking down the ramp and I was able to speak to him and recruit him. When I spoke to her again she said she was bummed to lose Erick but grateful she didn't have to start over. It is nice learning about missable quests, loot, and crew.

I never did Hail the Berry Mule but just boarded her and persuaded them to give me the ship and Erick. Surprised me!
I talked the Ecliptic guy into giving up both Eric and the ship. And they didn't even ask me for credits. My character is very persuasive.

I went through the whole entire game without having any companions with me. I beat the game in 3 days.
I tried, the persuasion minigame failed, so I shot them all in the face.

Haha i told them to take the ship and free eric.
They agreed.
Once the guy turned around I shot gunned him in the bsck of the head and took out the rest of his guys.
I freed him and he was surprised that i killed everyone and said he'd be going and take the ship back to mars.
When i webt back to my ship he was on it. Went back to mars and told jane i got eric and the ship back.
Went back to my ship and he was still on it....said he wanted to ask me something as soon as i entered my ship. He was inspired by what I did and asked to join my crew so i got a free crew and companion. Right now vasco, eric and sarah are assigned to my ship.
Get Ezikiel from Abbie's bar on Akila City and give him a microgun. You basically get Blain from Predator. :D
*POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT* interesting part about the dying companions in the story quest, if you go to the eye, you companion with the lowest respect level will die. if you stay at constellation, the companion with the highest respect level will die. you can choose who to kill basically, just make the one you like least hate you and not want to follow you anymore, and then go to the eye when given the option in the main quest
Vladimir paired me with Sarah, with whom I had the second highest companion affinity, I even did her personal quest, but I chose friendship, because I'm happily married to Andreja. I was convinced that Barrett would be with me, I only went on one mission with him.
Nothing beats having Amelia airheart as a companion 😅

Yea she's the best! I just with she had more dialogue. And I wish she had character missions like the 4 main characters.

You just gotta talk to him. Talk to every NPC until the dialogue starts repeating itself

Annoying that you don’t get an opportunity to recruit Erik after successfully negotiating for the ship. You “could” have getting Erik as a companion for the reward rather than credits while still receiving a store discount. Wouldn’t be that hard for her to find a new pilot. I’m over 100+ hours in and can’t believe all the dropped opportunities this game has, despite it still being addicting.
Unfortunately I feel like some places got less love than others neon seems to have gotten some decent attention to details as far as I've messed around there

You can get both, say you want Eric and after he's free, kill all enemy's. Go to Jane and talk to her and return the ship, when I leave the conversation and turn around, Eric comes around the corner and you can still add him to your crew. Works for me 😉👌

What mad lad doesn’t use the persuade option when it pops up?
I got Jane's quest early on in my first playthrough. After saving Erick and telling Jane she lost her ship he stopped me right away in her shop and asked to join my crew. He is funny, kinda nervous but when push comes to shove he charges right in to fights with no hesitation. Unfortunately he doesn't have enough dialog options for a long play...can't send him or go with him to visit his parents, even though he mentions them a fair amount of times. There's enough for someone doing a quick playthrough but if you go the slow and steady route there's not enough, but that is with any of the follower candidates.

Another reason to get Eric is he is morally neutral unlike MS companions who get upset if you "murder" pirates during ship boarding. Another fun BH companion is Betty Howser if you want a demo focused companion. I gave her a Bridger and she used it like an explosive sniper rifle.
Give her grenades and watch her clear the room.;)
If you Minio...I mean Companions get upset you got the bug where the Crew was replaced by "Security Personal". Looks the same but is in the "Neutral" faction so they think you're murdering innocent people.
@Shear666 added in a mod that mostly sorts out faction confusion with companions also tend to let "enemies" fire 1st seems to help also

You can choose who dies by switching companions and choosing where to go, you can also build custom ships that can jump across the whole galaxy in one jump, ao thos isn't vital ✌️

I just did this mission and Gustavo wouldn't talk. Reminds me of how the Crimson Fleet quest ended where Delgado wouldn't speak. I ended up just killing the bad buys and moving on so I couldn't recruit Erick.
Another maybe better crewmate is a guy on Akilia in the bar across from the gun vendors.
He in my other video, I just wanted to separate Erick because he is missable.
Does the payload skill adds up? So if you already leveled that one? Do any of the passive skills add up with companions?
Your payload skill stacks with companions. Companion skills don’t stack with each other.
From what I've been reading, the companions skills augment yours if you both have the same skills. If you don't have the skill they have, then they simply help a bit in that area.
Man such bad stats. Most of the hireable crew have only 1 star in the one skill they are supposedly a specialist at. Should be at least 3, to really call yourself a specialist.
Agreed! This bugs me about the game and makes the specialists pointless.

Crew skills wont stack with each other, but crew skills stack with yours.

You can save all members in ng+
There is a bug where if you leave your ship he is erased from existance. If this happens, there is nothing you can do to get him back. I've tried multiple ways to see if he would stay for an hour and none of my ideas worked.
I'm not sure if he has a default location he is at outside the ship, somewhere on mars. If anyone knows, please tell me.
Sorry to hear that, but I think companions bug out randomly, this is Bethesda game after all. Maybe you could use console commands to get him back if your are on PC.

Does he vanish from your crew menu? Because if he doesn't he just returns back where you recruited him. Check your crew capacity, you can have only 3 people on board. Everyone else will leave the ship
Ummm. You could use his "prid id" and "moveto player"!
I think Price's PRID is 00255d1d.
You can bring up the console and type "Help Erick" and it will give you a list of IDs known for all "Erick" in the game. Take note of NPC over ACHR, LCRT, SCEN, etc. They are NOT the same thing.

what if you saved the ship, moved on from this quest and are now trying to recruit him? can he still be found?
unfortunately you cannot recruit him anymore if you save the ship.
damn i did it already and missed that opportunity :D because i used the persuasion to finish it and kill the pirates after that regardless :D
Can you get Eric if you have already completed the mission?
From what I know, unfortunately, you cannot unless you start a new game.

My doubt is this. How does the crew works? My ship has 16 LY and this guy Eric adds 2 leves of astrodynamics? I got the guy and added him to my ship but I still have 16 LY? what do I do to improve the stats I the crew member is on the ship?
I think companion skills work differently than yours, so for Erick, he doesn’t improve the distance you travel, he just improves your fuel consumption by 20%.
Also perks don't stack, so if someone has them on your crew already then no difference will be seen

Any more companions we can get besides the obvious constelation crew. I have a lot currently but, not him. I only want the NAMED companions - so the ones you can hire as blah blah specialist Im not interested in. Maybe a video on these be good. Thanks
With no currently assigned crew member having any levels of either skill and me only having Astrodynamics lvl 1 and no points in Payload, my ship has 9702 cargo capacity and a capped 30 light year jump range. I'd suggest to prioritize assigning someone with more useful ship related skills and higher levels of those.
You could choose a crew member that upgrades weapons if you want, but I choose Erick especially at the start since most people don’t have much storage yet, I myself only have 600 storage. At endgame it doesn’t really matter who you pick because you could have up to 8 crew members but its good to have backup.
also it's good to have a crew member that won't be angry when you attack friendly faction
@@10Diyes Star Eagle gives you massive storage.....just say'in....and it's a free quest reward. The Star Eagle is simply the only ship you'll need for the entire game, it's really that good.

You said 2 missable companions , who is the other one where are they? Can you choose who to keep in the game?
“Hard missable” which means that after a certain decision you can’t get them anymore are 3. “Soft missable” which are out of the way companions that you could still go back to around 10 plus? Not sure of the exact number. I might be wrong though.
@@10Diyes So there are 3 hard missables companions? ok thanks. Soft missables I'm not bothered with, as I don't intend to new game + sadly i won't be able to get starborn ship, thanks to Tod howard. I don't have time to re-do all my things in game, and think it's waste of time to new game + unless they let me KEEP everything lol.

It just takes the highest one, so if you have Sarah, her skill is the one that is used. However, if through the course of the main story, if Sarah disappears as they sometimes do. You could use Erick as backup.

For me though I went with Andreja to the collector and had her defend the lodge, so I saved Sarah and others in the eye.
Done exactly what you did, but Eric is not there anymore after I talk with the merchant, means I can't recruit him. No idea why. Repeated it three times now

Its a modded mantis outfit, if you are on PC you can go to nexus mods.
I have 7 ships and can only assign my companions to the one I'm currently on Datura how come you get to assign on more than 1 ship?
You should have a hab and cockpits that has crew slots.

@@deusvlad2.083 maybe I misunderstood your question, you can only assign crew to your current home ship. Now if you switch ships with the appropriate habs but can’t assign crew then it might be a bug.

As much as I hate that I missed him I do kind of appreciate it cause I had no idea he was recruitable. You basically screw yourself by talking to much similar to Dead money in New Vegas. This is actually good game design as much as I regret not getting him since I've went out of my way to get everyone I appreciate the level of intricacy to this quest and its rewards. Very well made quest that seems like its a throw away one with a hidden companion well done Todd this is one of the great examples of whats good about the game vs some of the bad stuff I won't mention since this comment is long enough

It is modded, I have changed the appearance of the Mantis armor. However if you want the armor in game, join the Strikers.
The strikers give you one with another helmet on. Is this ng+ and the trenchcoat ? Cant fini it

Eh, I'd rather let the lady on Mars keep him. Becoming succesful on MArs is hard in the lore. Real hard. I'm not screwing her out of her ship and her pilot...at least not for weak stats like those. lol
He may be missable but I would argue he is nowhere near the best. He only has 2 skills, one at two stars and one at one star. A lot of the named companions you can find in bars, etc have 3 skills. He's good but I wouldn't say he's one of the best.
It’s super rare to have a companion with three unless there part of the constellation
@@michaellowski7172 For non-named companions I agree. But I have my ship full of named companions and ended up not needing any of the generics.
Ship skills dont stack, and the constellation members have better versions of both those skills.
Nice if you don't want to use constellation members for some reason i suppose (like to cut down the incessant chattering)
As for the spoiler bit, just take andreas as your companion in the beginning so she'll have the highest affinity. That means you can "pick" her as the constellation member for er, you know what.
I like Andreja so I’d rather do that to Sarah or Barret.:)

Hold on, why does your Razorleaf look like that, and mine is just small??
You can customize Razorleaf by visiting ship builders. If you add habs it will increase the size of your ship on the inside.
I did pursuade on Ecliptic to get Eric an ship but, then although he freed and Jane gets ship she not offer you him to recruit since she has both and wants use him for her ship. So to get him you need to lose the ship to Ecliptic.
However, you can get a discount in her store this way and if you intimidate you lose that discount but, get like 17K credits.
I had load save as I wanted the companion - I got more than enough credits and cant actually keep ship for yourself as far as I can work out.

Astrodynamics means sometimes you can go the whole trip in one loading screen, when without it you would have needed to make a pitstop. But there is no problem in making a stop. Also you can just put more fuel capacity on the ship.
Payloads +1 means... well it doesn't mean anything does it? Just put enough containers on your ship and there is no problem to solve with this skill.
There are actually important crew skills to benefit from instead. Like just damage, shields, engines, fusion for more power.
I see your point, but the same can be said for damage, just put more guns. Shields, just get a better a shield, engines buy more engines. I mean its subjective, for me cargo is important because my ship is lightweight. Depends how you play.

If you are talking about a fighter build then you certainly don't waste a crew skill on like +20 kilos of loot space. If you are not talking about a fighter build, then there's enough room for reasonable amounts of cargo modules anyway.
Cargo skill is mostly for hauler and smuggler, making large capacity even larger. If you apply it to small capacity, it's still small capacity.
No question of playstyle here. Just right and wrong.

I found 2 better crew members. My opinion they are better. I got 1 that has 2 ship partical beam weapons and 2 sheilds, the other one has 2 ship ballistics and 2 engineering.
Who are these crew members?
One of the few usefull crew members are only availabe if you choose to not save the ship for the quest? This is very fucked up.

You already have Sarah wich has 3 point in the astro skill, companion/crew skills do not stack!! Game wil automatically choose Sarah stat over Eric simply because hers is stronger

I lost Erick cause I got the ship back too then the vid said how the ship was lost. Then I couldn’t go back cause my game autosaved 3 consecutive times for no f***ing reason. Oh well Erick is definitely not the best companion anyhow

You can do that but you wont get Erick.
Your skipping the dialogue makes it very difficult to follow what ones to select. omg does it really take that much longer to let them speak for a moment

Still not convinced why it was so important to recruit him. Stat wise, he's completely replaceable, you're better off just using all the Constellation members

The constellation members do nothing but moan everytime you kill a neutral / friendly ship, plus, they NEVER STFU.

I wouldn't call him one of the best because of those weak skills but nice on figuring out he is recruitable.
I still have no ideea how the crew system works and I'm 100+ hours in, all them stats are not explained and all the people you find in bars are garbage.
Yes TBH why some ranks work and some don’t, why some skills work some don’t and why it is sometimes different from your skills is really confusing and just messy.

Sam Coal gives a better payload skill buff and Sarah gives way better astrodynamics skill.

Sarah has a better astrodynamics skill and Sam Coe's payload skill is at level 2 so this character is not worth the trouble to get.
Think of him as backup, its explained in the video.:)

Let's just say Constellation will be losing member permanently as you progress down the main quest.

Also they don't judge you for bad actions.
If a companion isn't on board with me pirating and pillaging my way through the galaxy, I'm not interested. I'll just solo it and do without my companions ratting me out to the authorities and sticking me with a massive bounty. This is not a G rated show. Viewer discretion is advised.

"One of the best", sure, he's on the top 50 list I guess. He's mid at best, only two skills and not even any above rank 2. Sarah already has one of his skills but at rank 4.
Does he have a personal quest? Is there anything that makes him good? No, astrodynamics is NOT a valid answer, as long as there is no survival mode it is the most useless skill ever.
Then don’t hire him…stick with the 4 constellation members they are the only ones that have personal quests. Lol
