Yeah, it was made for the era of streaming, not conventional TV. Even in 2011 when I became a fan everyone knew it, because it was doing amazing on streaming even then. Everything from the complex in-jokes and experimental episodes made the show perfect for streaming and binging and terrible for conventional TV.

Community has struggled because of its reliance on mass media consumption. the amount of references, homages, and name-drops make it hard to access for someone who only casually consumes media. It plays with tv tropes and character tropes in such interesting ways, that those who have lots of reference material enjoy it greatly, where the average consumer would just find it too inaccessible and confusing. Its a special, unique show that becomes better the more shows you have seen.
I don’t understand most of the references but it’s still enjoyable since they add the shows own charm onto it as-well, so you don’t need to watch what they reference to get enjoyment out of it. That’s why the show is so good.
To a degree you're right. But what makes Community great is the characters and the way its written. Paintball, timelines, d&d and "homages" would mean nothing if the core characteristics of the show werent fantastic. Now, I know the vast majority of the pop culture references in Community but I had never heard of My Dinner with Andre before Community and I loved that episode.
I've watched this series in it's entirety multiple times and will continue to do so. This show is streets ahead in every way. So much heart, so much joy in every episode.

I don't think that will be the case. Dan Harmon is an absolute perfectionist. He's probably been working on the script for the film for years and years and tearing it to shreds looking for issues. He still has a similar voice in shows like Rick and Morty so I don't think he would've lost that. And during the pandemic when they had a read through, all the actors slipped seemlessly back into their characters.

Community doesn’t just brighten up my day, it was major for me. It showed me major tv shows don’t have to follow such rigid guidelines. It inspired me to do what I love. Without community I wouldn’t have learned so many things about me exist in other people. Delta cubes will never die.

i feel so weird being apart of the generation just now discovering this show cause i forget the show was made when i was in elementary school when i wouldnt have understood any of the jokes, it must be weird asf for the actors too now that the show is randomly revived with a whole new generation of people
Community for me, is a cosy, quirky, resonating comedy with great characters and often off-the-wall scenarios that allow you to revel in your suspension of disbelief and submerge yourself into a whacky comedy world with that feel-good vibe that isn't constantly preaching down to you, or trying so hard to tick boxes for the sake of box ticking, or trying so hard to copy other comedy shows due to lack of originality, talented writing and acting. My only concern is that the film may fall foul of those latter things I listed due to societal developments, influences and social trends. If it does, then it will be a massive disappointment and a flop for me. I pray this will not be the case and not fall foul of the 'box ticking' plague we see in most tv/film productions today.
