Omg I love Aaron more each time. What a sweetheart!! Saying Dusty and Brian are great dads. Now I know why, his dad taught him to respect his mom. RESPECT ❤
I want to honor my dad, he adored my mom, he got up every morning at 5am before mom to put on a pot of coffee. This is 1960's . (I'm 67) He worked side by side with my mom one would wash dishes one would dry. My dad always said "listen to your mom." My dad passed in 1970 when I was 13 and I know how important dad's are because I lost mine. So as Father's Day approaches, appreciate what you have. Happy Father's Day Dad and Happy Father's Day to my Husband. 🙋🏻♀️💜🙏🌻
Breakfast with another beautiful one liner "is it organic?" When Aaron said their baby was the size of a coconut. I also love the sarcastic jabs he gives Aaron and Dusty.
I loved this episode so much! The way these guys were lifting each other up (especially Aaron telling the other two to not be so hard on themselves) was so sweet. It warms my heart to see that men CAN do this, and DO do this.
I like the idea of Bad-boy-Brian coming in dressed as Prison Mike (from The Office) with a red bandana and his go to clothing choice, and just going unhinged; drinking full strength soda's, hurling expletives and chewing candy cigarettes.
My dad passed away in 2010 at the age of 58. He had a great sense of humor and would have loved all of you guy’s comedy. Thank you guys for keeping me laughing and having a good time!
Dusty’s ad reads have oddly become one of my favorite things about the pod. I just got caught up listening from episode 1, so I guess I’ll have to go back to some favorites. Thanks for the uncontrollable laughter on my daily drive to gigs. Much love Nate, Dusty, Aaron and Brazilian Butt Lift!
I’m the 4th of six boys and my Dad was the more calm, level parent. However, my oldest brother swore at my mom and my dad came home from work angrier than I’ve ever seen him before. He pulled my teenage brother into a room by his neck. I heard yelling and the sound of a fist contacting skin. When he came out of the room, my brother was holding his eye and my dad said, “She’s your mom, but she’s my wife! You ever do that again and you’re done!” Largely because of my dad’s commitment to us as his sons, we all received athletic scholarships. The first five brothers for baseball and the baby in football. He threw hours and hours of BP, never said no to a catch, and gave us the two most important lessons that I hope to carry forward with my kids: there is no substitute for hard work and always love and respect your mother. I still cry every time I watch Field of Dreams, when Kevin Costner’s character asks his dad, “Hey, Dad, wanna have a catch?” Thanks for honoring dads, for being great examples of my dad’s two core lessons, and for being endlessly entertaining.
A lot of LOL’s in this one. Patches…nostalgic. These guys love each other and it shows. I listen to a few different podcasts but this is the only one I listen to every single week.
I wanted to thank you guys! I lost my fantasy football league and had to do an open mic set tonight. Listening to you all every episode really helped me know how to build my set. It went ok and i had fun. Thanks for everything especially Nates rants about comedy. You guys are the best. - Nate
I feel like baddie bates gets spicer when daddy Nate is gone. Love the three of them (bates, Aaron and Dusty) together. Dads gone and the boys get wild and fun
My number 1 is “in the living years” by mike and the mechanics. Thank you Brian for naming that one. I’m 62, my father has passed my years ago and it brings tears to my eyes everytime
Suggesting that Blackouts life is like Dustys in reverse is hilarious. The curious case of Benjamin Bates. Thanks for the weekly laughs and giving us something awesome to listen to.
Dustin Nickerson has a great line about fathers then and now. His daughter is talking about feelings and voicing needs, he said, "When I was a kid, I was afraid to tell my dad I was thirsty." I laughed until I cried, while people not afraid of their dads just don't get it.
I have so many memories from my childhood in the 80's of my grandpa playing Conway cassettes in his old Buick (silver with red fabric interior), driving us to places like Opryland or King's Island, but I don't think I ever heard Conway's That's My Job until just a few days ago, and it broke me to pieces. What a great song. Just wait Aaron. As much as you already think you'll love that baby, you have no idea. It changes you at a molecular level. And songs like that will destroy you. My "baby boy" is a senior in high school now. Even though he calls me "bruh" and often looks at me like he can't believe I can even tie my own shoes, I'd do anything for him. You guys are doing a great job holding it down while Nate's out bein' funny. Happy Father's Day!
I love this podcast. You guys always make me laugh and right now my family and I really need that. My sister passed away in February then we lost my niece in May, Another niece is in hospice, and my kids’ dad just passed away 2 wks ago. It’s just a very sad time. Thank you for making me laugh and lifting my spirits a little. Also I can relate to you guys in a lot of ways. I live in Southern Illinois now but I grew up in Michigan just a few miles from South Bend, Indiana. My dad was originally from Hackleburg, Alabama and my sister and her husband used to live in Opelika. In my younger years I sang country music in a band and love the city of Nashville. My sisters, daughter, daughter in law,and granddaughter used to make a trip there every year. I miss those times. Thank you all for what you do. And Aaron you’re still a father even though the baby isn’t born yet. Happy Father’s day to all of you!
honestly i enjoy how you guys approach ad reads. you all have a fun read types and it kinda works like a bit that you guys pick on each other. great job in everything.
Go Aaron for telling Dusty and Brian what for when it comes to them being good dads! We tend to relate ourselves to how our parents were but my parents never had cell phones and for a while we didn’t even have a computer. So times were a lot different back then.
Okay, Barney Fife, just ordered tickets for your show at Zanies! Thanks for providing such great entertainment each week, love this podcast! Great job, Guys!
The chime ad read misunderstanding reminded me of a similar misunderstanding I had on my wedding day. After the ceremony my new bride and I went back to our hotel room with the best man and maid of honor so that she could fix her dress. We were only there for five minutes, I lay down on the bed and exclaimed “ that was a mistake” referring to laying down. All 3 of them looked at me in disbelief. Turns out saying that was a a mistake isn’t something you should say 30 minutes after saying I Do.
It's so interesting to see how the dynamic of the show changes when one member or another is absent. For instance, my favorite part of episodes without Nate, is when Bad Boy Bates bites back after getting jabs from Dusty and Aaron all episode. Keep it up, always look forward to Wednesdays, no matter who's on. Zak Rector
I Discovered Nate a few years ago and he quickly became one of my favs. In my search to find all things Nate the internet could provide I found the podcast and Love it. Finally got to see Nate perform Saturday in Toledo. Great show. Nick and Mike and Zimmerman were funny and Nate killed. Was awesome to see new material and me and my gf laughed so hard. The way you craft your jokes and deliver them is an art form and you’re one of the best out there doing it. Bringing the water joke all the way back around was a stand out moment for us.
My favorite dad song would be "Leader of the Band" by Dan Fogelberg, which he wrote as a tribute to his father. I enjoy both the instrumentation and the lyrics, particularly because his father was still alive when it was released. Apparently Lucie Arnaz performed a version of it to honor her father, Desi Arnaz as well.
Hearing Dusty and Brian started singing “That’s My Job” together was one of my favorite Nateland moments ever. Dusty’s list of Top Father’s Day Songs was SUPREME! Great episode!
Aaron’s sarcastic song suggestions was the best part of this episode 😂. Dusty: “The Walk. . . “ Aaron: . . . To remember? We talkin Mandy Moore? Dusty: What’s the name of that song? Aaron: With arms wide open by creed?? 😂
Convince me that Dusty isn't just singing the same song over and over. If you ever make it to SNL it would be the perfect pre-filmed skit: a music collection infomercial with Dusty's renditions of country songs but the melody is exactly the same. 😂
I work as a teacher for "at risk" youths. Many kids have said that their father is not a dad. I'm curious to hear if you guys have an opinion on the difference between a "father" and a "dad". You guys all seem like good "dads" (involved with your kids), not just "fathers" (just the biological contribution to the child's existence). I love this podcast, you all seem welcoming to us listeners, like you have us all over to hang out with you guys. Thanks for all that you do, please keep doing what you're doing.
In the last 15 months, I was introduced to Nate, watched all of his specials, listened to 204 podcasts and now finally got to see him live in Cedar Rapids. We had to drive 5 hours each way, but it was worth it. We already have tickets to see Dusty in St Paul in November. Now we just need Aaron and Breadbasket to come to MN and all will be right with the world.
I remember Nate saying a while ago to never say "I'll get to that later" when doing comedy or public speaking because it makes people feel like they are going to be there forever, I got that same feeling when Dusty said "Here are my top 15 country songs about dads." I still listened to it but I definitely wasn't mad when it was over.
Drive by Allen Jackson is one of my favorite songs of all time. Y’all said it and I pulled it up on Spotify and listened to it with my 4&6 year old and I cried for the first time listening to that song! My dad passed away and I used to drive with him when I was a little girl. Thank you guys for reminding me of this amazing song. Can’t wait to drive with my little ones one day.
Dusty is doing amazing with his ad reads. When he was reading the ad for aura frames what people missed if they were just listening to it was Dusty gesturing while reading it. He’s really getting into them. Go Dusty! “We’re having a good time!”
Hello folks. Just wanted to give a special thanks to you guys this week. Had a horrible night Tuesday and woke up Wednesday in a bad mood. I put on the podcast and was quickly having a good time. Was laughing really hard at the Chime ad read at a stoplight and caught the guy next to me staring at me like I was crazy. Enjoyed the songs at the end and wanted to pitch one to the girl dads. Kenny Chesney there goes my life. My daughter moved out recently and we danced to that at her going away party. As the girls get older it hits harder. Also, a couple weeks ago when Brian said there was a splash zone (Thought of Gallagher) at Aaron’s shows I lost it. As per usual it was quickly dismissed by the guys. That’s Background Bates for ya. Thanks for helping us stay in good moods out here every week!
I am crying during a comedy podcast 😭. Hearing these men talk about being Father's was a wonderful tribute to father's everywhere. Dusty's description of becoming a father got me. You all are (will be) great dads! Thank you for the laughs (and the tears).
I stumbled upon Nate's stand up a few years ago. I've been a huge fan ever since. I showed my husband Nate's comedy special, hoping it would hype him up to go to a live show with me. He watched a few minutes and said he didn't think it was funny...... our divorce should be finalized any day now. You guys are my kind of people!!
Hot take on Shawshank. I don’t love the movie but after reading (listening) to the short story by Stephen King it is a perfect adaptation. It may not bring anything to the table cinematicly but it changed the way I look at movies made from books. I call it a win and worth the watch and worth reading the book.
What a great episode! Y’all are great dads!! My husband is the best dad I know. He started as a “girl dad” to our daughters and since then, we adopted two boys and now I get to watch him as a “boy dad.” What a privilege!! PS-One “girl dad” song that we listen to when we want a good cry is “There Goes My Life” by Kenny Chesney. With a daughter who just graduated high school and is leaving in the Fall, it’s a tough one. I thought Dusty might know that one.
I love the show no matter what, but there is just something super special about all 4 of you guys there together. Still an amazing episode. Thank you guys for all you do.
Additional songs for the girl dads. Daddies & Daughters -Trent Willmon Dream Big -Ryan Shupe Forever Now -Michael Bublé When She Grows Up -Craig Campbell Diamonds & Daughters -Aaron Watson Cinderella -Steven Curtis Chapman Little World -Tyler Wood Dance With My Daughter -Jason Blaine Grow up Too Fast -Jimmy Charles Daughter -Loudon Wainwright Hand to Hold -JJ Heller Good Man -Andy Grammer I'll Be Your Man -Zac Brown Band Daughter -Ben Rector Father and Daughter -Paul Simon
You guys never disappoint. Always keeps me laughing. Dusty I was watching an old TH-cam of Josh Wolf. He was rocking a Dusty Slay hat and mentioned your name and hat several times. It's a video he did in his backyard during shut down. All you guys are hilarious. Thanks for all the laughs!
I was wondering if y’all’s grandparents kept their bread in the freezer? Both of mine did, and all my life I’ve wondered if this was just mine, a preservation thing, or the fact that both my parents were 1 of six children and they just always needed that much bread.
I love how when Nate is gone Dusty essentially takes over and this turns into a bonus episode of the We're Having A Good Time Podcast. #DumpDusty #JKDontDumpDusty
Loved it when Dusty suggests to pick some jokes that you could all do somewhere offline and use cuss words. Blackout nods, says nothing but CLEARLY is not remotely interested.. so subtle but so funny! I’m Australian so swearing (sorry, cussing) is like a competition for a lot of us. Dusty - you gotta come to Australia and tell the dirty watermelon joke. Please.
My husband thinks I am in love with Dusty and Nate, but lately, I think Aaron's brain makes him pretty hot, too!!! Aaron will be a great dad! Love these guys so much!
dusty is absolutely right about hulk. hulk has only been used to show how strong other characters are, but they never justify his strength like they do in the comics.
“Patches” was also sang by Jerry Reed. So there is a country version. I’m proud to say I knew every song Dusty listed and I approve of the list. Country is America’s music and I’m an American!
Excellent show guys. I really appreciate the heartfelt message Aaron told his podcast partners regarding their being great fathers. I agree! And Aaron, you are already being a wonderful father to your "baby in waiting," by taking care of your wife and yourself. I thank the Lord for all of you and the joy you bring into my life - sometimes daily. I've watched every episode a few times over.
Yeah, Dusty is leading the charge! Someone tell Nate that, professionally, if you have a group meeting and one person from the group is not in attendance then the leader of that group meeting sends an email with a synopsis of that meeting to the missing person. So mean to make him feel excluded.
At 1:24, wondering why Dads are nicer now. There were times when if a kid broke something or failed to help, it made a big difference. There were harder jobs for adults, less cheap stuff to buy, and people didn't waste. The hours in a day were limited because everything was work-intensive. Especially on farms, the whole family had to help and make the right choices (for personal safety, animal care, saving unnecessary costs). The dads were being a tough boss more than what we think of as a dad today. Not to mention family history, where people went generation to generation without learning how to cope with the difficulties. I'm a fan of all of you and the podcast. Happy Father's Day!!
When are you guys gonna have "Louisiana Dusty" on, Theo Vaughn... pretty sure he lives in Nashville now... Love the podcast fellas. Keep it up, and thanks for all the laughs.
In my opinion Bates is the star of this podcast. The funniest , most reliable, most relatable and easily the most prepared. I could watch this pod with any of the others missing but if “Big Daddy Bates” is missing, so am I . God bless
I love when yall talk about music on the podcast. As I’m listening, I can immediately tell Siri to play the song and add it to my playlist. Bible and a .44, great stuff, hadn’t heard it until Dusty mentioned it. Thanks for all the great music suggestions!
The Billy Joel song "Lullaby" - could also be interpreted as a parent who is about to pass on talking to their child prior to their departure. Love this song and sing it to my kids at night. Thanks for all being stellar human beings and for being willing to take on the role of fatherhood.
Brian mentioned how some of the fans don’t know how getting booked for a show works. For instance, he was talking about Desert Ridge and prop. I think it would be really cool to hear you all discuss how the business side works a little bit. How do you book shows? Starting out, do you cold call venues, and then large venues like arenas, how does that work?
Another one: "Closing Time" by Semisonic was written about the birth of the lead singers son. You are a father, Aaron! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise! Happy Fathers Day!
It was very sweet seeing Bassinet getting a little choked up reading the song lyrics. I think You’re Gonna Miss This might be the ultimate song from these lists. The other day Facebook memories brought up a video of me having a conversation with my now 8 year old daughter when she was just three and it turned me into a blubbering mess. You don’t realize how much their voices have changed or how cute it was to hear them say words slightly wrong until they no longer do it and you truly do miss it and want it back.
I saw Dusty in St. Louis, waited a while for him after the show but security kicked us out. I did get to meet his openers mom, who was sweet as pie. Dusty was great, 1:20!! Go Dusty!
I don't think I am alone in saying that the Natelanders need a Christmas album this year from the crew. The dulcet tones of Baritone Bates, Acapella Aaron, Singing Slay, and Nate the Note would be the perfect musical accompaniment to the holiday merriment. Keep up the great work, folks.
Unfortunately the song that reminds me most of my father is a horribly sad song about an absent father, "Father of mine" by Everclear. On the flip side"i'll follow your trail " by sean Rowe is a really sweat tearjerker that reminds me to slow down and enjoy time with my toddlers, it fills my heart to the brim when i hear it
Guys, I watched this episode on Saturday night before Father’s Day. I loved all the songs but Dusty’s song The Living Years by Mike & The Mechanics hit me like a boulder. I remember loving the song when I was a teenager but listening to it tonight after the podcast and remembering my Dad left me in tears. I’ve heard tears are simply unexpressed love and I’m grateful for your very real look at the sometimes complicated relationships we share with our Dads. I love this podcast and all 0:38 the laughs (& tonight the tears). Lea ❤
3 days after Dusty spends 20 minutes ranking his top 15 songs about dads, Luke Combs releases a 12 track album called “Fathers & Sons”. In my opinion, every song on the album deserves a spot on Dusty’s list. Love the podcast, and Happy Fathers Day to all of you! (I’ll allow you in the club, Aaron)
I call some fruits “project fruits”. Watermelon, pineapple, cantaloupe. You get one from the store or someone brings one to a party in its raw form. Project fruit! It is a TASK to cut that thing up.
Beautiful tribute ❤
@@leanneneufeld157 i agree
You can totally do a Yearbook episode where everyone brings yearbook pics and talk about crazy senior photos. That would be fun!
Breakfast with another beautiful one liner "is it organic?" When Aaron said their baby was the size of a coconut. I also love the sarcastic jabs he gives Aaron and Dusty.
It was so quick!
It was hilarious!
He’s too quick and quiet sometimes. Let’em know in the back how funny you are, Brian!
Bringing a watermelon 🍉 into the casino is the most Dusty thing ever 😂 9:22
Dusty, breaking out in song, never fails to entertain. ☺️
I loved this episode so much! The way these guys were lifting each other up (especially Aaron telling the other two to not be so hard on themselves) was so sweet. It warms my heart to see that men CAN do this, and DO do this.
[she said 'do-do] 😆
The data/data thing Aaron does every time he reads the DeleteMe ad is my favorite catchphrase on the show.
I like the idea of Bad-boy-Brian coming in dressed as Prison Mike (from The Office) with a red bandana and his go to clothing choice, and just going unhinged; drinking full strength soda's, hurling expletives and chewing candy cigarettes.
I immediately thought of Prison Mike!
Sagging his pants with gold grill would be funny
get him some t
No absolutely not! Breakfast, you are wonderful as you are. You have the courage of your convictions. Don’t give that away, especially for a joke.
😂loved Brian's comment to Dusty "you're doing it to make money"
It was my favorite 😂
When are we getting a conspiracy theories part 2? The first one with Dusty was comedy gold.
Dusty Slay is a living, breathing, walking, talking country song!
The energy to start this ep is wild! I would like one of what Dusty is having right before work and one of what Aaron is having right before bed...
I’d 100% pay for a Nateland After Dark Patreon 😂
Damn thats good, i second that lol
I'm in
Bricklebush is on fire with the insults in the beginning of this episode. Kept me laughing out loud.
Man these guys sure do know how to get 75 different songs stuck in my head all at once
32:13 Dusty really does add a “t” to the end of his words. This time is “hilarioust”
I came here to say the same thing. I had to re-listen to be sure I heard it correctly.
Same!!! Lol
Just the words that end with a D.
I’m the 4th of six boys and my Dad was the more calm, level parent. However, my oldest brother swore at my mom and my dad came home from work angrier than I’ve ever seen him before. Life is Beautiful is a much watch! I was a teenager at the time and loved it (even with subtitles). A must watch for Dusty and Aaron.

I love Nate, but I actually get excited for the pods when it just these 3. They really come out of their shells and it’s fun to see.
Hey Bear. I love today’s topic.
Brain was on fire today, his quips and side jokes were awesome.

I still listened to it but I definitely wasn't mad when it was over.
The black T-shirt makes Bodysnatcher Bates look 20 years younger. 50 year old Bates must of been more energetic because he was on one today 🤣

Bates coming in hot today!!!!!! Love it.
Please.
Mike and the Mechanics - the living years
This is such a tear jerker. Pulling strings on the soul.
The more I listen to Dusty, the more exactly relatable he becomes. It's getting strange
He’s the smartest man I know!
@@nathantaylor860 Well as much as I like Dusty, you need to meet some new people!
@@Musicdudeyoutub I’m joking, but he is right more than he’s wrong on most things I’ve heard him say.
I can’t believe I’ve been watching you wasn’t on any of the Father’s song lists. That song makes me tear up every time I think of my boy.
Brake pads is on a glow up! I don’t know what he’s doing but keep it going.
Dusty lookin like he just wound up the siren at the Preds game. #Go Jackets, (the blue ones)
As a South Georgian man named Ashley ...
" Boy Named Sue " Johnny Cash ,greatest dad song ever.
Tuesday night is like Christmas Eve waiting for Nateland. Wednesday is like Christmas morning to see if your comment is read.
It’s cool how Dusty obviously didn’t have a perfect, clean cut childhood, but he still recognizes his parents’ efforts, loves them and respects them.
Dusty, read USDA regarding on “organic”. It’s ridiculous, all other countries have much stricter than US. Ours is not very organic.
I agree, but you gotta get as safe as you can here. Our food is wrecked
Go Dusty!
The power goes out 30 minutes into Brian's show.
The audience suddenly realizing, "Hey! Something is going on up on that stage!"
Lea ❤
Give me some credit. Dusty’s never heard of Mike & The Mechanics.
Dear Theodosia (especially the reprise version with Chance) is a great dad to kid song
GOOD TIMES ARE BACK BABY🎉
3 days after Dusty spends 20 minutes ranking his top 15 songs about dads, Luke Combs releases a 12 track album called “Fathers & Sons”. In my opinion, every song on the album deserves a spot on Dusty’s list.
Love the podcast, and Happy Fathers Day to all of you! (I’ll allow you in the club, Aaron)
@brianbatescomic was on 🔥 today!! 😂😂 Keep it up guys!! We miss @natebargatze, but love that y'all still do an episode!!
This episode is hot from the top. Slip in some early adds. Hijack the intro with ‘We’re having a good time’ and Aaron reminds dusty XL is not huge.
I call some fruits “project fruits”. Watermelon, pineapple, cantaloupe. You get one from the store or someone brings one to a party in its raw form. Project fruit! It is a TASK to cut that thing up.
