Brian's "away cup" joke when Nick was talking about his first pitch was hilarious and everyone missed it. Just had to make sure someone gives Beefjerkey love
Love the podcast. I cracked up when Aaron said quietly “I think Nate gets plenty of credit. The podcast is named after him’. Funny, as always. Love you guys. Nick was a welcome change.
This is it, folks! I have spent a little over a year watching from the beginning, and I am now completely caught up and can comment on the most recent episode. That's nearly 17 total days worth of watching/listening! You've all helped me get through some very late nights of photo editing, and have kept me laughing while I would have otherwise been falling asleep at my keyboard. I thank you, and I'm sure my clients would, too, if they knew you were part of the reason why I spent extra time getting their photo sessions knocked out in a timely manner. I love the BAND, and you're all quite hilarious in your own way. I have to give a special shout out to Dusty, though. I have burst out with so many times with "Yes sir!" and "That's what I'm saying!" while listening to him talk. High five to you, sir!
Hearing Nate talk about his culinary debauchery an hour after selling out an arena makes me want to see a documentary style film following him around after a show. How fast and steep is the decline from him in stylish clothes to him in a 3xl tshirt and shorts peeing in bushes beside a highway?
Didn't look like he flamed the guest at all. In my opinion, I think Nick would be an improvement to the show. Brian was visibly upset when Nick totally ignored him, but brian doesn't really contribute to the conversations at all, but we're having a good time.
I used to get annoyed whenever Nate wasn't on the podcast. Of course, I'd watch because they're still funny, but it just wasn't the same. But now, it's Dusty who is the one that I really miss the most whenever he can't make it. For me, he's the one that makes the podcast as good as it gets.
I saw Nate live in Memphis last weekend. It was such a hot show. Derek Stroup was so funny. Also got to see Thune and Bubble bath. And Nate gave me a high five on the way to the stage. My life is now complete.
No matter what the topic of the show is, every episode turns to conversation about food at some point. Nate’s story about driving home alone so he could get McDonald’s and then DQ had me dying! 😂😂😂 I think an Athletic Greens ad read would’ve been perfect right after that😂
I had to show up and back up Brian. Growing up, we never had teams in dodgeball. One or two people would be throwing the balls and it was every man for himself. Last one standing wins and can be the next thrower or pass to someone else.
I’m with Bush’s Beans on Dodgeball! When we played growing up, there were different sides but each player was trying to be the last standing and at the end it was always one winner. Also the air date of this episode was my birthday. Would love a comment read! Keep on keeping us laughing!! Love you guys.
Thankful for this pod no matter who is at the table! You are all top notch comedians and I appreciate the free product here! Bunch of knuckleheads complaining in the comments.
9 years ago I decided to wear all black. Just plain black from top to bottom. Every piece of clothing I have now looks great together. Shopping is also easier than ever. Whenever I find a t-shirt that looks great and fits me well, I buy at least 5 of that same shirt so I can wear it for the whole week. All clothing items I have now is my favorite because of this. No more suffering from the 'paradox of choice'.
Been a big fan of Nick going back over 15 years. Probably the guy who got me into enjoying stand up. I think he's super underrated and I'm glad to see him get a bit more light shed on him. Bring him on more!
The show was amazing, so excited you all enjoyed yout time in my city and I'm grateful Nick contributed to our casino. If you noticed a lot of jeeps, it's because it was Jeepin' the coast event.
Note to Aaron: my family watched Heavyweights last night and laughed a lot. My 11 year-old son, in particular, enjoyed it. As a "classy lady", I wasn't sure I'd be able to stand Ben Stiller's old school physical comedy, but I was engaged for the whole film. We learned a couple of interesting facts about the film, too: Ben Stiller agreed to be in the film as long as his image wasn't used in promo material; and Keenan Thompson, playing a 12 year old boy, was 17 years old during filming! Thanks for the recommendation, Aaron.
I realized during this episode that Richard Jewell’s mom was played by Kathy Bates. Perhaps a remake featuring Aaron and Brian Breakfast Bates as his worried mother? Love the show guys keep it up!
Nate, my wife and I came to watch your show in Huntsville this past week. I remember your monologue from SNL back in the fall and recalled some of the jokes you told during your stand up. Since you’ve been doing this tour for almost a year now, do you find yourself getting tired of telling the same jokes, or do you still really enjoy it? The show was awesome. We had a great time. P.S. the Propst Arena needs to get their AC fixed. It was miserably hot in there. - Ben Hogan
Thanks for the episode guys. I always thought I had to lose weight to fit into my old clothes again. Now I know I can just bring it to someone and ask them to make the clothes fat too.
My elementary school playground was awarded a grant when I was a kid and they gave us the math funnel games. I'll be 40 this year and i never knew there were math problems. We used it like four square because the sides were numbered 1 to 4 so the numbers to us were indicative of sides not math problems! (We did not come from a $$ school, hence the grant)! I have thoroughly enjoyed all of you being back! It's been great to see you nate!
“What kinda friends you got, man?” -nate 🤣 🤣 🤣 i love the under the radar comments that get no love on this pod. Bates its hilarious, Aaron is too; dusty gets some zingers in as well. I love this pod. Thanks guys. Also, belt buckle was a little sloppy on his transitions this week..usually hes pretty slick with it. What gives Bates?!
Boatramp Bates is right WRT dodgeball rules/teams. When we played, there were no teams, just 2 sides of the court. Once I was eliminated, I had ZERO loyalty to the remaining players.
I was getting caught up on my weekly podcasts last Thursday while having a very painful wisdom tooth removed. Needless to say, I had to have them pause the procedure so I could turn off the episode that I was listening to through my ear buds, because I was laughing so hard during the "parachute pants" discussion I couldn't breathe! Is ay it was, because I have been audibly laughing out loud to yall since the beginning, but my husband said it was due to the nitrous oxide. We are temporarily a house divided. HEY BEAR! Love you guys!
I can see a world in the near future where all the comedy clubs don't just comment about how nice and friendly your fans are, but also how very well-dressed they all are after listening to this podcast and going to get all of their clothes fitted.
This episode made me nostalgic for the early episodes (pre-Dusty era) where there were more frequent guests and the conversation was more on topic of the theme. This isn’t meant to be a knock on Dusty, there was just a winning formula in the first 100 episodes and this felt like an episode of old!
Your thorax discussion made me realize Marvel/Disney really messed up by not having scents made by Axe for each of the characters. "Thor Axe: Spray it on your Thorax!"
A recent Tom Cruise movie started a trend. When Top Gun Maverick came out, so many people started rocking the mustache for like the first two months. It got to the point I was asking everyone with a mustache “How was the new Top Gun?”
Almost spit out my coffee when it came to the comments section and the Richard jewel comment! 😂 I must’ve missed that in the moment on the previous episode. I know some people hate the comments. I love them because of the razzing each other and organic conversation. Also honorable mention Nick Thune saying he’d also be curious if Ms Atkins was also Nate lol😂
Nate was right about parachute pants having a lot of pockets. A lot of people call Hammer pants parachute pants. But parachute pants were fashionable before hammer pants. And parachute pants were not baggy. They were usually heavy nylon with a lot of pockets with zippers.
It’s interesting to have both Greg Warren and Nick Thune on the Pod talking about things they’re passionate about and how different it feels listening to them.
Let me just start by saying I'm a female fan...it still counts, right? In catching up on old episodes, the one about Fashion and where/who are the fashion week houses at Paris, NY, Milan, etc. is haute couture. Celebrities, MAYBE...wear this actual, first go, right outta the gate. By the time it reaches the general retail market, where "regular people" shop, it's been 'watered down' SEVERAL times... it's basically the idea of that season's high fashion, but made for regular people to walk down the steet in, without everyone rolling their eyes at you. Hopefully, this female, lifelong, fashion passion input helped y'all out. Love listening to you guys. I'm hooked. Be funny. Ria
I loved listening to Nate talk about how important it is to dress for his audience. When I saw him in Bangor he wore a tourist hoodie that he got for free! Now we know his opinion of Mainers!
When I saw Nick was on fashion ‘sode, the first thing I thought of was Derick screaming during tennis baseball “we just let a guy wearing capri pants drop a bomb on us!” That was gold!
Just got back from the show tonight. It was amazing! I highly recommend going to see this tour. Also, Any chance of a Nate t-shirt that just says “hey, sorry about that turtle stuff…”? I would buy many of those.
I do all the grocery shopping in my house and we have four kids that are 8 and under. Nate is spot on, I make about 4-5 trips a week to piggly wiggly or Walmart because I only plan for that day or the next. My kids love that I do all the shopping because most the time I come home with candy or other snack items.
Excellent suggestions from Nick re fashion. All these suggestions can only help with that all important first impression that the band has talked about in the past. I seem to remember them saying if you lost the audience as you walked on stage you will never get them back. I have experience with a colour stylist providing a little book with the colours that look best on me that i take shopping and helps me avoid buying clothes that i would seldom wear, hence saving more than i paid for the service. Her selling point was asking "how many shirts in our closet we actually wear?" We tend to only wear the ones that make us look best, at least when in public.
Back to last week’s episode and Nate referencing his water company job- I agree with him 1000%. I work for the water company (Logan City) and almost daily, we’ll have work orders saying to shut the water off at this address because they haven’t paid. I will leave a notice on the door and call the person on the account before I’m ever trying to shut them off, not to mention the notices they’ve already received in the mail before I get there. But after a couple days if they still haven’t paid the bill, then yeah I have to shut their water off. I don’t want to do it, but it’s part of the job and people have to learn the hard way sometimes and usually getting your water shut off does the trick.
The Four Square talk had me reminiscing. We had a ton of made up rules back in the late 80s/early 90s. Cherry bombs, Around the World, Double hits, Double bounces, Air Mail, No Air Mail, etc. The 4 Square Tournament at Field Day may have been the most prestigious event to win. It was 4 square at its purest form, Tournament Rules. That threw some folks off their game.
My wife and I bought Costco clothes for the first time a month ago. Shirts and pants, pretty good. When we were making our way to the car for this month's Costco run with our teenage kids, I made the comment that my wife and I were wearing our full Kirkland brand attire. I also joked that we should stand next to the clothing displays when we get there, like we were real life mannequins. Our kids were mortified and said we both had to change before going. I guess my wife and I are officially unfashionable.
Being Breakfast aged, I went to high school in the late 80s. I had a Chemistry teacher who started teaching in the 70s. And, he still dressed like he was living in the 70s. I thought it was strange. Now, I started teaching math in the 90s wearing the popular khakis and a polo shirt. Today, I am still teaching and I am still wearing khakis and polo shirts. I now understand that Chemistry teacher better than anyone. Why change? Math hasn't. Go jackets!
FWIW, Nick is 100% right about the Norm Macdonald Mangrate stuff. It’s criminal that the full episodes of his podcast are no longer available after his Netflix show came out
Hi, I get botox for hyperhidrosis, once a year, hands and underarms. It doesn't "move" the sweat. I even asked the nurse. It's expensive but a lot of insurance will cover it now. Highly recommend. The discomfort of the injection process is WORTH the wonderful freedom of wearing any colours of shirts.
The map book was called a Thomas guide! And it was massive. I had to use one when I moved to Los Angeles in 2006, about a year-2 years before Tom Tom came out. Then I got a fancy garmin!
Daniel Barrow Derick Henry has worn some of the craziest looking suits on NFL game day, said he's never worn the same suit twice. Also want to thank Nate's Dad for mentioning that he watched the movie Nefarious and told Aaron to watch it. I did and thought it was a really good movie.
Went to the show in Huntsville. Everyone was great. I thought Breakfast would joke about the lights coming on when the lights went out at his show the weekend before.
Nate knows, the best fashion is being fit. I can relate to the up and down weight and the sugar addiction (have you ever checked the sugar in a MacDonalds meal??) There’s a saying “Abs are made in the kitchen” - and so is fashion.
On Reddit I see guys ask women all the times what are turn Ins to them. Many women says “when a man talks about something he is passionate about”. Nick Thune really put that to the test in this episode.
How is Nate not a sponsor for McDonalds already?! There’s got to be a cheeseburger meal with his name on it by now 😂 I totally understand the non judgement night trip to McD’s as a mom of 5. Just want to eat my fries and shake in peace. Thanks to you guys for bringing me humor during the tough toddler years! Also pretty excited Nate’s in Michigan this week! Go Blue! (that one’s for Aaron 😉)
Let’s go folks! I have a sneaky suspicion that Bonafide Bates thought there were no teams in dodgeball because when he played all the kids in his class just wanted to throw dodgeballs at him. I could be wrong but I don’t think I am. We’re having a good time.
The more I listen, the more I’m convinced I might be Aaron’s older brother! Aaron if you ever come to KC, we’ll need to coordinate so we don’t show up on the same comfort colors tshirt…
If you travel somewhere, do you feel the need to match your fashion to the area you travelled to? For example, fashion in NY City is going to be different than Dallas, Tx and different than Los Angeles, etc. Do you try to match your fashion to the local look?
Brian's "away cup" joke when Nick was talking about his first pitch was hilarious and everyone missed it. Just had to make sure someone gives Beefjerkey love
I feel like Nick is a perfect cross of Dusty and Aaron. Absolutely hilarious episode.

Love the podcast. I cracked up when Aaron said quietly “I think Nate gets plenty of credit. The podcast is named after him’. Funny, as always.

Nick Thune is a good fit with the group.
Breakfast bringing the heat this episode-Bunsen Bates.
It always the best when he flames the guest 😆

We loved styling Dusty, Aaron, and Brian at Purpose Men in Tacoma! Nate and Nick, let us know next time you’re in town 😀
I just love your podcasts! I live alone and you all just fill my heart with joy and laughter. ❤️
Don’t worry Bones, I heard you when you asked Nick if he’s seen the cicadas. Can’t believe he and everyone else tuned you out like that.
We really need the gang to do a bit at Dusty’s cabin. Planting trees. Talking about nature and chem trails.
& moving rocks
YES! I AM UP FOR THAT!! Love Nature, gardening and homesteading!
With aaron sweating under a shade tree, in a lawn chair, with a lemonade 😂
Nate, all the folks are rallying behind you and Aaron on your health journey! Let’s go!!!

I had to show up and back up Brian. Growing up, we never had teams in dodgeball. One or two people would be throwing the balls and it was every man for himself. Last one standing wins and can be the next thrower or pass to someone else.
Same dodgeball experience for me growing up. Not true teams. I had no idea they played like that until I watched the movie Dodgeball. 😅

I used a Mapsco in about 2006-7.
This may have already been stated. Leg warmers were part of women’s dance clothing. The popularity came from the movie Flash Dance.

Derick Henry has worn some of the craziest looking suits on NFL game day, said he's never worn the same suit twice. Also want to thank Nate's Dad for mentioning that he watched the movie Nefarious and told Aaron to watch it. I did and thought it was a really good movie.
Poor Brian, I agree with him totally about the dodgeball. We were on separate sides, but it was an individually played game so go Brian go.
The driving maps Nate is referring to were called a Thomas Guide. I used them myself before GPS was a thing. Good times 😉😂
Let’s go folks! I have a sneaky suspicion that Bonafide Bates thought there were no teams in dodgeball because when he played all the kids in his class just wanted to throw dodgeballs at him. I could be wrong but I don’t think I am. We’re having a good time.
Hey Bear. What do these guys know about fashion? Should be interesting. 🤣😂
OMG YALL READ MY COMMENT LOL
I’m am so proud to have had my super underwhelming addition shared 😂🎉
Love Nick!
The more I listen, the more I’m convinced I might be Aaron’s older brother! Aaron if you ever come to KC, we’ll need to coordinate so we don’t show up on the same comfort colors tshirt…
I didn't redeem the cashout voucher from the last time I was at a casino though. Mine wasn't worth the big bucks like Nick's though. It was for $0.04.
If you travel somewhere, do you feel the need to match your fashion to the area you travelled to? For example, fashion in NY City is going to be different than Dallas, Tx and different than Los Angeles, etc. Do you try to match your fashion to the local look?
*NATELAND podcast on Wednesdays REALLY helps the week go fast.
6:20 it’s like Rob and Big office space from MTV
Can't wait to see yall in Toldeo! We are coming from IN/MI for my sisters 40th!! She's the middle child. 😆👍
