If you want to increase nitric oxide, L-Citrulline would actually be more effective than L-Arginine. This is because L-citrulline is absorbed by the intestines and bypasses the liver. It is then converted into L-arginine in the kidneys, which leads to higher plasma arginine levels than taking arginine directly.
Pine bark extracts are only from pine bark! But some of the active ingredients can be found in peanut skin and grape seeds (although I find most grapes are seedless these days!!!)
There is potential for pycnogenol to help with mood disorders as it can help reduce oxidative stress associated with these conditions. There’s not a lot of human studies in this area so I would suggest starting with 50mg to 100mg per day
It's so damn expensive though 😢. Especially in the therapeutic doses they use in those studies (100-300mg a day), are financially impossible to get from consumer supplements... .😢
Do you mind explaining the difference between the percentage of procyanidins? For example the supplement i was taking is 60mg of pycnogenol with content of 400mg french maritime pine bark extract which has 60% procyanidins is that still good?
Since all Pycnogenol is standardised to 65-75% of procyanidins you wouldn’t need to worry about the %. That’s the benefit of taking Pycnogenol which is a proprietary extract as opposed to just pine bark extract which could vary in % a lot. And a lot of studies used actual pycnogenol. You just need to focus on the mg of pycnogenol in this case.
Hi Evie, thanks for this useful video. I have a couple questions if possible for you to help me. If the pycnogenol product of my choice has a standardization of 95% instead of 65% (as most of the studies had) would this still be good? The NusaPure version which I found to be the best price/quantity/quality value, as it they have 200 capsules of 400 mg each pill per bottle at 95% pycnogenol standardization, seems a high dose per day according to what you mentioned. Do I need to extract 150mg of the 400mg for melasma use, for example? Would something risky or counter effective happen if I took 400mg per day instead?
Thanks for watching! That dosage would still be fine. Pycnogenol is very safe even at higher doses 😃 Just keep an eye on side effects and reduce if needed

Pycnogenol is a amazing supplement I stack with Enzogenol which is a pine bark native to New Zealand
That’s very interesting! Do you notice a difference if you stop taking either one of them?
@@EviePharmacist I have taken each both for a year individually but found my body preference is taking both together.

Yes I use pine bark..but I use L-citeralien plus 9mg of boron..every day.. cycle off boron for about a week and a half then back on again
Sounds like an effective combo!
is this recommended for moods disorder like bipolar? if yes, what the recommended dosage?

Yes you’ve got a good point! Unfortunately some supplements are just too $$ 🙁

Have you heard of or used Pycnogenol? 🙂
Yes would certainly recommend for ED. Wasn't taking it for that but certainly noticed the effect in the morning.
Sounds so interesting,.but how do you compare it to oak bark extract ( Robuvit)?
@alsaedlubega8562 i haven’t looked at it in comparison yet but will look into it!
