I have been using Pycnogenol for more than half a year and I'm very satisfied. It's in my night skincare routine and what works best for me is to use it after Niacinamide + Zinc Serum, which is water-based. It creates great base for Pycnogenol. Thank you for this educative video.
I'm tempted to get it and try it out but I've read some questionable things about the brand and the individual who owns it. I'm concerned about the quality of the product and its reputability. Might have to wait a couple of years to see how the company fares longer-term.
@@RespectedProfessional What questionable things? He has been very open about the whole process of owning a brand and formulating products, pricing and his own life too. @@Wheelsonthebusgooround Umm, no, but I have been following him for a few years now and do think he is one of the few trustworthy content creators around.
I picked this up after you did a video on The Ordinary products, I only recently started using it more - and wow, I notice such a more bright healthy glow in my skin when I use it overnight or apply it first thing in the morning , seems to work way better than my vitamin C serum
Great video. I’ve been a fan of pycnogenol for awhile now. Started with the Ordinary’s and enjoyed it, but decided to move on to antioxidant blends including the ingredient. My two favorites are NIOD’ Survival and Mad About Skin’s All Day Protection Antioxidant Cream.
I literally love this stuff! It's amazing moisturizing and does help plump up my fine lines and wrinkles a bit. I use it morning and night as I live in NYC, and it's super polluted, especially with those wild fires from Canada. I recommend this to anyone who needs a good, powerful antioxidant and lives in a city. I have oily to combo skin n I just put like 3 drops and then my moisturizer. I broke out briefly the 1st couple of times I used it, but it went away fast. I just think my skin was getting used to a new product as it's happened before. It's nothing crazy to stop use over.
I love that stuff -- smells so delish when I mix it in with my TONYMOLY Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Lotion (which isn't at all watery, just a lovely lightweight moisturizer). It's my favorite way to start my day after I've applied Vitamin C. Sunscreen goes last after everything has set.
Couple drops of Pycnognol mixed with a toner (i use the centella one from cos de baha) in the am before sunscreen. Works well. Been using this mixture for over a year now.
I really like this pycnogenol, but it's definitely too heavy and sticky for me to use it in the daytime. I can still feel sticky for hours after application (and I try and use it quite lightly!) So it's definitely something that I'll keep as part of my nighttime routine. It's the last serum I apply before I put on my moisturiser. I think it's great for giving me a bright healthy glow.
I mix mine in the morning with Ascorbic Acid 8% Alpha Arbutin 2 % and Resverarol 3% Ferulic Acid 2 %- all from The Ordinary. So I make my own serum. Put that in, move on to do my eye makeup while this cocktail absorbs
If you are using a whole routine daily where would this fit in? Can you still use vitamin C or would it make that redundant? Thank you in advance for your very valued advice.
I did get some of this and tried it and loved the effect. I had used the pine bark from France that you add to your vitamins so I was aware of how good this could be so I was half sold started on it before trying it. Thanks for this video its helpful on notes on ways to add ways to use it and when to use it. Thanks!
I’m going to buy this and pair it with my vitamin c and niacinamide in the morning. I don’t wear makeup and I see people layering primers, concealers, foundation, etc but I’d rather just layer my face in a bunch of skincare goodness even if it means my skin care regimen is like 12 steps morning and at night lol
I purchased this yesterday and have since only tried it on my hand. I'm not sold yet, just because it did feel very oily, more oily feeling than the b oil. Perhaps I'll use it at night, but I can't see layering this with any oil on top. Ugh idk.
I Only use The Ordinary FOR EVERYTHING and I've been needing an antioxidant, however the stability of the formulas (majority) are comprised by water easily... I have the Granactive Retioniod Emulsion 2% (water based) which I want to mix with an antioxidant (retinol + antioxidant = Perfect skin)... and so that's my problem, but after research I see Pycnogenol isn't affected in such way by water, at least what I discover... please correct me if im wrong.
Good morning I'm 56 years old. I have combination skin, I have wrinkles and melasma, and my skin is starting to drop, especially on my neck and eye lids. Can you please help me and recommend products that I can use in a daytime and nighttime routine. Everyone says that at my age, I should be using growth factors, vitamin c, renaldehyde, and hyralonic acid. Can you please help. Also have you heard of the skincare product called Calecim.
Hydrate your skin properly, use good anti oxidants, a good sunscreen, try Tretinoin. Use the products all the way down to your chest so that your neck gets all the goodies as well. Take supplements (ceramides, collagen, vitamin A, Omega 3) and lastly there is the option of a surgical facelift or the use of Botox and filler (but that should be used preventatively beforehand and not after to be honest) . Whatever remains you should just accept, aging is part of life. If you do everything I listed you should see good improvements though. But don’t expect any wonders
Do you have any recommendations for cleansers and moisturisers that don't have hyaluronic acid or Cetearyl Alcohol but are still hydrating and creamy? I have really dry skin so I really like very thick and creamy cleansers and moisturisers, but they almost all have both hyaluronic acid and cetearyl alchohol which irritate my skin a lot
Rosacea triggers vary from person to person so nobody can predict how your skin will react, but one of the reasons why vitamin C is irritating is because it typically has to be in low ph solutions. That's not a concern for Pycnogenol.
It’s definitely not as irritating as Vitamin c. I think it actually shouldn’t be irritating at all for the majority of people and is probably rosacea safe. But I would reach out to the ordinary and ask them about this specifically.
I have pretty bad rosacea and have never had any any issues with pycnogenol. Like the other comment said, it doesn't have the low ph like vitamin C. I almost burned my face off once with a 20% vitamin C..lol.. Had no idea what I was doing back then 🙄 But the pycnogenol feels like any other waterless serum 👍
I just tried this out and if I use this here and there it is okay and no problems... I thought is was safe... then I used it for a daytime, then a nigthtime, and again in the morning and it caused a red allergic reaction. I cleansed my face before every application. So now I'm a little afraid, I haven't had a reaction on my skin in the last 10 years.
I mean when I put few drops of these vit C derivative on the palm of my hand, if I can add there a drop of Pycnogenol and mix and put on my face already mixed
Just use an antioxidant in the morning (e.g. pycnogenol, vitamin C, EUK, caffeine serum etc) with moisturiser and SPF (keep in mind that vit C can make acne worse so I would use niacinamid serum instead of vit C) and at night retinol (for its antiaging benefits ) with moisturiser, but if you suffer from acne you can use an acid like salicylic acid, lactic acid or glycolic acid, though keep in mind that retinol also helps with acne so I would use only retinol + moisturiser at night .
How do you layer it with other products that are water based ? When I put it overtop of, say, niacinamide, I put it after letting the niacinamide absorb for a hood 5-10 min but it still pills up =(
I am putting snail mucin 96 over about 3-4 drops of this one and then my sunscreen. I use it every other day. On the rest of the days 20% vitamine c from the ordinary. Maybe the latter one is strong for my skin, because something broke me out 😢
I love pycnogenol and I love vit C. Can these two antioxidants be used in the same morning routine before sunscreen application? will either cancel the other one out or could they possibly enhance each other?
My understanding is that Vitamin C is so difficult to layer w other products due to its need to be in a quite acidic formulation (2.5 - 3.5) compared to most other ingredients buutttttt!!! from what i'm reading- bc the pycnogenol is a waterless formula- that makes it essentially pH-less so you should be good! I'd definitely start w the vitamin C first after cleansing and then after that absorbs, apply the pycnogenol
Yes it does, if you go to the Deciem community board or something you'll find a table with all the ingredients, clearly listing which ones you should or shouldn't be using together.
I was really excited for this product also bc it’s so much less fussy than The Ordinary‘s other antioxidants but it didn’t work for me unfortunately. It turns my face blotchy and slightly swollen within minutes 🥲

Get the basics down first (cleanser, moisturiser, sunscreen, treatment if you need it), everything else is mostly for fun rather than true results.
