Hi Dusty, Thank you for the tutorial. Have a question, Can two people play games from the same computer? Example: One person using the computer and a second person using their phone?
No, steam link just streams what your pc is doing. AKA you are still using your PC, just streaming the video and controls to your phone instead of your monitor, keyboard, and mouse. You're "remotely" using your computer via steams progam ui.
Something I’m looking forward too is iPads finally being proper portable computers where gaming is possible with out having too connect too the main computer we all know the technology is there but they trickle everything slowly too keep people buying
The network part of this setup has nothing to do with your internet. It’s all local so the network speed results are from your PC to your device. Best results is your PC plugged into your router (hopefully a gigabit switch) and your device on a 5Ghz AC network. Any modern device and router should give you wireless AC so you should be able to connect at 433Mbps or 866Mbps which is plenty for a good stream. On my network I get 125Mbps in the steam app and my iPad is connected to the network at 800Mbps with my PC connected gigabit Ethernet.
This is helpful for someone like me because I can use tablet for a screen and play anywhere in my house instead of having to go and sit down in my computer room just to play games like Persona 5, God Of War, And Okami

It's nice being able to play some of these games in mobile, yet the fact that it only works via a constant wifi connection as opposed to say, downloading the steam games to your phone without the need for an internet connection, really bothers me. I use it because all steam games on my Computer have weird graphic bugs since i updated to windows 10, and now i can play without seeing them lmao
Yung Vortex Even though my res is high, my game looks like some low quality Indian TikTok vid lmao
Now this is a real tutorial for people playground for mobile
Just enjoyed watching this video I know I will learned more simply watch more
Thank you for not informing me that this information is useless.
What if my pc is connected through Ethernet cable but my phone is connected to wifi?
Since they are on the same network there's no problem :)
Hi there i realize this is from 3yrs ago now but im just waiting for my gamesir x2 pro xbox edition to arrive in the mail hopefully after the weekend my computer is actually connected with lan ethernet cable from my wifi beacon would that still work or do i have to run my computer box strictly wireless ? Because im upstairs in my house and our modem router thingamabober is in the basement so it runs better connected cable to my beacon plugged in upstairs in my room
Dang, I thought it was gonna be like xbox, playing games on your phone using data.
I do. Just leave your PC on with Steam running and open the app while you're away. Should connect like normal. Not as high quality though cause cell data isn't as good as wifi.
@@bmjake I'm just waiting for steam deck
Is it possible to do this away from home? Via port forwarding your router network to your phone app? Also can you play any game that is on steam or only those with a controller option?
Thanks
Steam will portfoward for you
You can play away from home. Just leave your PC on with Steam open. I have a bluetooth keyboard/mouse and can play any game I own on Steam over my ipad.
does this mean you can play fall guys on your phone?
oh wait that game is dead already
Hahan't
Thx for informing us it really helped
Thanks alot. My phone has way better graphics so this helps alot
Than a TV???!
Wicked cool this help out alot 😊
It’s burry how do i access settings
steam big picture go to settings there
YOUNGWINDMILL GANG I aready figured it out
Hi question does you android phone or tab specs contribute on the game or the pc specs ia important?
So if its on the same network i cant leave my house with it, im trying to play in my car on my lunch break at work
Exactly. Why would I choose to play on my phone if my computer is in the house and running?
Does it works with 4G instead of Wifi?
@@thomasjohannesen1003 That's exactly what I'm not understanding too. If I'm home with my computer I'm going to play on that on my big tv screen. Why would I play it on my phone? I would only want to do that when I'm NOT at home and want to play something. Like the google cloud gaming service, but instead using my computer with steam as the cloud. This feels like going to a movie theater to watch a movie on your phone while it's also on the big screen.
Can you use a Nintendo switch controller?
This video sponsored by Temtem.
Foreal whole reason i got it
My friend did this on his iPad, but he didn’t need to use internet, and he was playing Ark: Survival Evolved PC edition…
I will do this so i can play undertale on my phone,no more ripoff,no more unofficial port,no gamepad just play the oringinal like computer!
still need a gamepad lol
Does this work with the wired?
My phone's model name is POCO X3 with the charging port being USB typeC and I have a wired Xbox 360 controller
Sooooooooo you need both devices connected to the same WiFi to play even after initial set up?
I think only the initial set up needs both devices connected to the same wifi. after that you're probably fine
Ramen nice, thanks
Xbox One S controller + this app = Best gaming experience one can get in a phone.
Did you have issues with the left trigger causing the camera to spin in games? I can't get mine to work right :(
@@LemonMan91 no, for me it worked fine no bugs, make sure to check the app and game config too, it could be a conflict between the two.
@@rodrigofilho1996 I've checked key binds and everything. Even games with official controller configs cause the same issue. I press left trigger and it thinks I'm pushing the right thumb stick to the left. Even when I release the left trigger, the camera continues to spin. Really strange.
It's nice being able to play some of these games in mobile, yet the fact that it only works via a constant wifi connection as opposed to say, downloading the steam games to your phone without the need for an internet connection, really bothers me. I hope in the future Steam makes downloading steam games to mobile a possibility. Or at least grant us the power of making APK files for the games so we can install them to our devices like any other kind of app.
yeah but most phones, especially iphones have not so much storage so through wifi is better for most
This kind of defeats the whole purpose you're looking up this video because you don't have a computer yet you still need one that's like saying how did eat without a spoon yet you still need a spoon to be able to do it
I have a laptop and I just wanted to play Steam game when im shitting
What's the point of this app if you have to have Steam up and running on your PC? I keep my PC off unless I'm using it. Just use Steam on the computer. Now if the app allowed you to log into Steam on the mobile device and access your games from there, that would be a totally different story! My Internet sucks (over an hour to play a 5 minute video), so I always play games offline and take my laptop to a relative's house to download the games.
Well for instance. I can be playing in another room from my PC. Or if I’m in the road I can bring my laptop and play on my mobile phone on the go. There are some use case for it.
As a parent it’s great to be able to pick up my phone/iPad anywhere in the house and play a game there.
you can download the app on your smart tv, and use it to remote your screen to play on the tv
Does it count as playing on a pc? Like on fortnite it shows the computer logo instead of the console logos?
Fortnite kid 🤮🤮🤮
@@vlakytramvajecz8947 ur youtube account is all over the place 🤨
@@RealAstrkx Fortnite kid liking his own comments lmao 🤣
After you are paired. Can you play your steam games while your pc is turned off?
No steam should be running on your pc
Thank you wery much it helped a lot
what if my pc is not capapble of running a certain game
will i still be able to play it
for example can i play gta 5 on a very bad potato pc which i am currently using :(
@dylan dog it doesn't have gta V anymore bro 😎...
Also there is litteraly no cloud gaming service (execpt GeForce now) let us play for free.
Now I can goof off while homeschooling! 🙃
Hi, you said, testing the internetconnection. Ist this app only working in the same network like my pc or can i use this app, after pairing with my pc, from the internet on a other place?
I got covid and this app is saving me from boredom
Hope u get better ;(
If I altered the files on my laptops version would that still be altered on my phone?
Yes you are only mirroring what is happening on your comp
Do games need to b downloaded on the computer to play them or are they being played off the steam library.
Is there a way, I could use my desktop from my phone? Like I could go to like my pc or launch an editing software like premiere pro from my phone?
@DUSTY PORTER... is the stream internet data based or just local wifi based ?
Bro thx 😁 cuz i'm gonna play left 4 dead 2 in my phone. Hopefully when i choose touch controls its good. For my phone actually. But bro thx it helps alot for kids that playing in steam.
i have 40 mbps connection put in app network test it never shows more than 10 mb is it ok?
Damnnn
Is it possible to switch back to the game while playing steam? It seems that you can only use either the p c controller or the steam link controller at boot up time but you can't switch back and forth
Can u link a phone to the legion go. Its the legion go considered a mini computer. Instead of a full size PC
Can I do it on the website? Because my PC broke and I have only my laptop that doesn’t run steam games.
Halo on phone is going to be awesome!
I came here to do exactly that lmao
