    In the 70's when I was living in Brooklyn there was a lovely Vietnamese woman that created a Vietnamese restaurant in a store front on Atlantic Ave. She and her husband recently immigrated and her husband was updating his medical degree and she supported the family in the meantime. Absolutely the best food I had at that time, very fine and delicate flavors, I moved out of NY and I hope they are doing very well.

  • @TY-ob7fz

    Of these covered I would try Em, looks quite interesting and my ability to accept Vietnamese fusion. But that being said just tried 5ive Spice on mulberry that you covered a couple weeks ago, and have to say the short rib pho was as well as their short rib bahn xeo taco was sauce dripping rich and delicious. They’ve topped my craving for Madame Vo’s pho with an equally rich but different tasting also delicious broth. Tried the pork and shrimp taco as well as fried spring rolls also delicious. Only caveat is a busy place can have your head spinning by the end of dinner. Staff is excellent.

    Hmm, prices seem rather high for what I'm used to here in the great southern land. The question for me though is, when the brothers talk about a price, is it the whole price? As an Australian, $25 means $25 and nothing extra. However, I understand that when Americans say $25 they mean $25 plus taxes, plus service. Which is it then? $25 or $25++? FYI we don't do much tipping down here in Oz and the price quoted always includes tax. The tax is 10% everywhere and the minimum wage (like for backpackers) works out at around $28 and hour for casuals. Casuals don't get the standard six weeks a year paid leave, or the two weeks (minimum) sick leave like everyone else so they get around 25% over the odds.

    • @jaiho9442
      @jaiho9442 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For reals, I'll passed and get my 80 cents congee in Vietnam. It's in NY, so that's $25 + 2.50 (10% tax) + 3.75 (15% tip) so it's more than $30 for a bowl of congee, that's pretty ridiculous.

      Man in all honesty Vietnamese kind of sucks. This is someone who has lived in Vietnam and ate all around the country. It's pretty over rated for the most part. Most foods you eat are not bad but not good or it sucks. If someone says something is good it's most likely a food that you find in other Asian countries too.

    • @vietpham9161

      No buddy, viet food is for the people, not to be overpriced. The origin of broken rice is literally the unwanted broken rice grains leftover that’s cooked and served with meats/veggies. Pho is made by cooking down bones and tough cuts of beef. Vietnamese cuisine thrives from using undesirable parts and elevating it to serve the community

And the finihing bowl of phở, the south has more fresh garnihsments too. I personally like the southern phở more while my while like the northern.
