To answer a bunch of Qs
9 Judges
Round Robin
Criteria Judged:
technique, vocabulary, execution, musicality and originality
20% each
Its subjective judging not objective.
@@causewhynot2284tecnhique is more objective (like figure skating, rhythmic gymnastics, artistic gymnastics etc...), and it can include the difficulty of the moves and fluidity. Musicality while subjective is referred to how your moves match the music choice, like you wouldn't do ballet on metal music, and if the song is more emotional you wouldn't do the rapper moves. I'm not really a fan of breaking at the Olympics myself but I hope at least they have some parameters to base their scores on
@@causewhynot2284 even freestyle wrestling has some subjectivity.
I'd assume they delete the best and worst rating for decreasing variance
@@causewhynot2284vocabulary is also objective the unique amount of moves you do is important
so this didn't really explain how breaking works at the olympics. are there scores? is there a panel of judges? how does someone win or lose?
They will be judged by rounds, 9 judges
@@legoat3587 So You Think You Can Dance but you win medals
No it's You Got Served rules mixed with Zoolander dance fight rules
@@iliaslef I mean if walking, synchronised swimming and rhythmic gymnastics are olympic sports why not breaking. It requires athleticism, endurance, creativity and musicality.
@@iliaslef sport: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.
For those of you who don’t know this is a HIGHLY ATHLETIC dance/sport!
This is so impressive! I've seen so many people hating on it, but it definitely requires Olympics-worthy athleticism to pull off, and besides that, it just looks cool. I'm glad these incredible athletes have a chance to showcase their moves where the entire world can appreciate it
Another Christianphobe that agree with men beating up woman in boxing and men chocking women in judo
Agreed! I will be looking forward to it every olympics.
Absolutely agreed because absolutely amazing 💪🏻💪🏻👌🏻
🤣🤣🤣we are so fucked
I’m so surprised anyone is hating on lmao. I can’t fathom anyone hating on it being anywhere close to pulling it off on the level these guys are not do I see any of their favorite athletes pulling it off. Where as I’m sure these breakers’ athletic abilities are include many other sports just by the nature of breaking.
People can't complain about this when figure skating and artistic swimming is in the olympics
THank you!
but those are actually professional sports that have been in the olympics forever 😭. they JUST added break dancing
We already got synchronised swimming and rhythmic gymnastics. Finally we got breakdancing for Olympics 💪🎶🎧
Yes I'm so happy it's part of the olympics now.
@@GeordiLaForgery Sadly, but Breaking is not part of 2028 Los Angeles Olympics
@@ZuberKazi28 That's so sad, I thought it'd be a permanent.
@@GeordiLaForgery but we still got speed walking
Because this is not a sport
Critics who say breaking isn't a sport are saying this based purely on feeling alone. They cant logically explain why it isn't.
The fact is, breaking is a dance and a sport. It's no different to rhythmic gymnastics, synchronised swimming or figure skating in that sense. Breaking is physical and competitive in nature, which are basically the only prerequisites for a sport.
There really is no line, but there is a limit to the number of sports they can add to the olympics.
While I can admit there’s athleticism involved, wouldn’t this open the door for ballet, ballroom dancing, tap dancing, jump rope, etc? Just curious where we draw the line.
What line you are speaking about Imagine that Squash not Olympic sport
I think figure skating has already opened the door, wouldn't you agree?
You can't seriously compare what breakers do with tap dancing and jump rope. The athleticism involved in power moves is something not even 15% of olympic gymnasts could do, let alone moving in sync with the music.
One could ask, why does or would a line need to be drawn? All the above sports are activities that can be and are performed and trained for to a high level. All require commitment, training, time, physical and mental discipline and therefore, ultimately altheticism.
Watching this video, breaking is very similar to what we see in floor gymnastics. And no one would argue that is not an elite sport.
@@mutelarsorhougbe4606 Okay, let's bring origami into the olympics since there doesn't need to be a line drawn. You people are ridiculous. This is just silly
as a former wanna be bboy, this brings tears to my eyes. i never thought i'd see the day when breakdancing would get this big.
I actually love this is in the Olympics. Keeps it interesting for younger generations and gives more people new opportunities 👏👏👏
If this can get in. So can pole dancing.
@@RIVAL30388 take out break dancing and put in pole dancing
@@RIVAL30388 if that happens, I'm gonna sign in as a nun lmao
I expect beatbox to become an Olympic sport in 2028
I hope so

Even though it's not physical like this sport, I would like to see chess be in the Olympics. Showcase both physical and mental ability Olympics!
When a street culture becomes official, it dies.
It will be racist if the Olympics don’t include beatboxing and also freestyle battles at both the winter and summer games
I think the scoring on this is going to be far to subjective. The dancers are great, no doubt but I'm not sure this should be in the Olympics because of the judging difficulties.
Breaking is extremely deserving athletic and mind blowing, kudos to Olympics for giving it a platform, hope it gets bigger n bigger, breaking is therapy ❤.
Silly and cringe more like!
Stop it’s not a sport
But Karate isn't.
@@deniss.6205 , Karate, taekwondo all are,but breaking ain't bout fighting buh uniting, and fyi some breakers are well skilled in this other fields,it's time for breaking, all other will get their opportunities.
Hong10 needs to be one of the judges
Why can’t I find the breaking coverage? It’s so frustrating to not be able to find it anywhere.
Honestly so cool they included this sport! Break dance battles are so fun to watch. They do require some serious physical talent, so I don’t get why people wouldn’t want to see it at the Olympics. Like gymnastics is fun, but breaking has the energy of a direct vs battle.
Makes you wonder why they don't do a 1 v 1 gymnastics version of HORSE. that would be exciting to watch.
Don’t understand any of the bitterness towards breaking. Unless it’s coming from personal view places. Can anyone logical explain the issue? These guys are doing what gymnasts do without using the tools that make it easy, and they actually have to have style and doing in sync with the music and have to actually be creative and original lol. It brings a whole new level of complexity and excellence to a rather dull and simple minded gathering in my opinion. Yes art can be scary but out of all dancing I think breaking is the most accurate to add. Anyone can learn a salsa step but I doubt 10% of the Olympic athletes can do what breakers do. Y’all are really letting your biases expose themselves
There is nothing wrong with it mate, its cool to watch, its just not a olympic sport. Not even close. Whats next - pole dancing competitions?
i suppose the issue is general public not understanding how the discipline works. it's new discipline and most people are not able to judge how well the contestants are doing and this results in inability to compare performances and feeling that the results are not predictable. people do not like new and unpredictable things.
there should be much longer video explaining the discipline, its origins, scoring etc. 2m video will not help.
@@mackash Exactly. If you let in breaking why not ballet? Have you seen ballet dancers? They are built like athletes. The leaps, spins and lifts they do can be argued to be just as much of a sport as breaking.
Saying breaking isn't a sport, is madness @mackash
Come on dude, the fact that this is in the olympics is just silly.
Anyone know what day and time this event is taking place? I’ve been patiently waiting for this. TIA
In the US tomorrow (8/9) 10 AM EST
Too all the people saying their is no skill and etc. That's more like you have the general idea that this is a dance for minority street kids. Breaking has been world wide for decades now and these people train and take it seriously. If you want to call this stupid for adding this. Take a look at Bad mitten , ping pong , shot put , and etc. These activities are taken seriously by others world wide.
I think people don't like the idea dancing is considering a sport, while there are competitions for scoring and stuff dance is more about feelings, the emotions you convey, the performance catching the audience, if dancers focus on doing hard moves to gain points then the magic is lost and it's just an exercise like floor gymnastics with music. It depends on how the scoring system will work, if it's like figure skating where art and sports merge, or is mostly technical. Dancing competitions are rated by dancing experts, we'll have to see who the judges are here
"bad mitten" reminds me of big mouth 😂
People that say this are stupid and shouldn't be listened to. It's just more floor rhythm gymnastics with different names. It's no more or less athletic.
Those are actually sports. breaking isn't a sport. This is just silly
@@justaguy328 correct it's not a sport it's a dance. With athletic parts With influences from caporia, Africa dance , gymnastics , and etc. I didn't say it was a sport anyways. It is a competitive artistic dance that takes a lot of skill. The last time I looked ping pong is a game that takes a lot of hand eye coordination. There are other examples also in the Olympics. So it's not silly.
☺️greetings from Equador✋🇪🇨
Ok...
1:08 Break Dancing what capoeira is.
I was hoping they included Crew Routines in the olympics. Battle of the year has produced some of the most amazing team performances ive ever seen.
It's a bit sad the event is held like a jam finals rather than a tournament, heavily gatekeeped by all means ...Judo for example goes on for like 4hrs have a whole tournament etc
Just 16 when there's so many more to represent the whole breaking culture and people are making fun of the Oz Bgirl, when there's probably at least 100 plus much higher levels that could've represented. Could've been top 64 or at least 32
We didn't get bowling and squash, but this?
I'm waiting on Mario Kart 64 to have its go at the olympics too.
Mario vs Sonic Olympics too!
Those guys can't even get off the couch
Well turns out there is Olympic esports. But I don’t think we’ll ever see it in the official Summer Olympics since it doesn’t require physical exertion.
Hero10...he is from another planet. That's a compliment. He should've had gold. PERIOD...IM FROM CALIFORNIA. THKS MILLION HERO FOR THE OUT OF THIS WORLD SHOW, you gave us.❤
Dance is slowly coming into the Olympics… one more step into ballroom, rhythmic or singular dance and the dance competitions would fully complete.
Yes, it is amusing to see breaking as the gateway for other dances to be represented in the Olympics. Ballroom and Latin dances have a strong organization, codes, and history so they will be coming to Olympics soon as well.
Breaking is more athletically demanding than way more Olympic sports than you think. Don’t think any other dances really belong as sports. Y’all crazy if y’all think y’all favorite athletes are doing any power moves or freezes lmao and that’s not even the bare minimum of breaking.
@@Sitheonlywell ballet is hard as well, and the floor exercises male gymnasts do like flares and stuff are only a part of what they do, the cool moves they do are only a fraction of the sports, they have rings, bars and other stuff that a dancer couldn't do. So saying it's more demanding seems like a stretch, breakdancing is hard and tiring compared to archery but like they use different skills the other wouldn't have.
@@JajajaAhhaha-t2fit's not a stretch to say breaking is more physically demanding than some other Olympic sports. And obviously gymnastics is more physically demanding than breaking I don't think he guy was making a point against any particular sport lol.
Yes other sports that aren't physically demanding may require different set of skills, like every other sport. This felt like a moot point tbh
Those have all been at the olympics at some point.... This is the first time ever that breaking has been involved.. The other dance styles you mentioned didn't have that big of an audience, that's why they were removed but i think breaking may have changed everything for the future.
I don't understand Breaking but I respect the participants' dedication to mastering their sport!
as someone who was a bboy back until 2015 ish....this is crazy
I’ve been searching high and low for some of the competition but they keep just showing the one girl that messed up with zero points. Anybody else see anything ? If so please share link. they rather show her with zero points than her competition?
Waiting for diss rapping to included in the Olympics
That reminds me as the Northern Soul dancers at The Wigan Casino
Its 4 things make up breaking... Top Rocks, Groundwork, Powermoves, Freezes. Now you cant really repeat a top of sequences(stringing moves together) or you'll lose major points from judges, big NoNo. Ofc, you gotta hit things on the beat but freezes especially. Idk, you gotta think of it as a dance.
Can someone explain this to Raygun? Hope she watches this tutorial and get these elements into her routine to really come out and redeem herself.
Muito curiosa para vê!
Needs to be more age inclusive! Dad dancing should be introduced into the next olympics 😂

Woohoo jus' Loving itt!! ❤🎉🎉😍🌞🥰
This is cool and what not. I'm just actually bitter that other sports such as Squash doesn't get the same recognition as this and not even in the Olympics.
What the actuall….. its a slap for Olympics. the quality athletes who sweat their blood out training for years with utmost discipline that has cutthroat margins for errors. This is not a sport, this is art. There are separate events for this. Don’t you dare mixing it with real sports.
Breaking is one of the most athletically demanding things you can do. You must not be an athlete or be very smart.
I wish this came back 2028. I actually started tuning in bc of the breaking that’s going on and it didn’t disappoint!

The Monty Python "Ministry Of Silly Walks" should send the IOC (International Olympic Comittee) an application for becoming olympic.
judge system is bullshit.
Victor performed at a high school level and won a bronze medal.
WHY DID YOU DITCH THE OLYMPIC GAMES IOC 😭😭😭😭 WE COULD HAVE SEEN MARIO AND BOWSER BREAKING IT DOWN 😢😢😢
Took a while but breaking should definitely be in the Olympics.
So should pole dancing.
Thrilled and excited to see this INCREDIBLE skill allowed in the Olympics! Watched the B Girls final on BBC last night! Both of them were excellent. Disappointed the BBC didn't show anything else from other contestants.
I used to love watching the Breakers back in the day, 80s and took pix of many of the guys performing in London, Covent garden and Southbank!!! Looking forward to the boys tonight. ❤
Wow, this is huge. Never though of breaking going this far 🙏 ❤
Olha, se tem o breaking deveria ter capoeira também. 💛
Drum can be olympic too! Also bowling!
Who wants to sign a petition that the slam dunk contest will be added in the Olympic games will be held in Los Angeles next 2028?
Yes and baseball and disc golf too! Why not corn hole. It's the only way a country of diabetics could compete with China, make olympics about american pastimes and not athletic ability. Oh and make sure to not allow Russia to compete. USA USA USA!
I would've been open to that years ago, but I really don't care now because the guy I'd like to see in it is way past his prime by 2028. Jordan Kilgannon should've been in that if it was in the Olympics held in Rio 2016. Even the NBA guys are intimidated by him
BREAKDANCING😊
THANKS FOR LIKEING SOMEONE
the media started calling it breakdance. it was always breaking (or bboying/bgirling). everyone knows it as "breakdancing" but its actually not the correct word. the correct word is in fact breaking.
Austrailian lady performer was 😂😂😂😂
No sooner people will twerk on Olympics ground 😂😂😂😂😂
Dance and Sports are two entirely different things. Shouldn't have been included in the Olympics. Olympics has always been a mix of athletics, sports & games, whereas Dance is an art like music and other aesthetic skills.
So break dancing is not breaking ...
And we can't even get ballroom dancing in the Olympics....
Can't wait for the IOC to add Chess to the Olympics!!!!
What’s the difference between gymnastics floor work and breaking at this point. They not really explaining how the scoring works or if you even gets points deducted for not perfecting certain moves
Surely floor routine in gymnastics is a better representation of moves that can be judged than this.
This is another form of gymnastics 🤸♀️ 😅
Why is there no team or group breakers or mixed doubles?
Nice to see this huge sport finally recieving the recognition they deserve.
Seriously though. This is more legitimate a sport than equestrian Dressage.

😂😂😂that make me laugh. That be olimpic!!
When sitting becomes an olympic sport, Im gonna participate.😂
people criticizing breakdance have zero understanding...this is a sport that started 50 years ago as way for youth to express themselves during the break of a song, mostly funk related. it requires a lot of athleticism
The way people are trying to clown on this very athletic sport is a little annoying. No you couldn’t just wake up out of bed and just do competitive break dancing… Ray Gun idk why she was even doing and neither did anyone else but the other b girls did great.
They should have introduced endurance tickling as well 😂😂😂😂
공정한 심사가 필요합니다.
Breaking might be a potential event for India to win medal 🏅 in next Olympics,IOC sports ministry should start exploring break dancers and impart training to them

why not cheerleading?. we need cheerleading in olympics
Calling it breaking means there is no dancing anymore. And no rhythm.
It's a real sport game for sure it's beyond just being a dance
Too bad that breaking originated in us but will not be included in 2028 Olympics is shameful
Get rid of it and include Rugby 9s for the next one.
