Haven't seen this in ages. What a nostalgia trip. The last episode I remember watching was when Ian had that nerve issue in his stomach and was holding a pillow. What was that like 6-7 years ago?
Yeah boys! CUpodcast time! Good to see you guys. And also, hi Tommy, hope you're having a blast playing bagammon and avoiding all Amico related responsabilities.
Ian is totally right. Flea market madness isn't about what you find. It's just a vibe. Listening to frank hit on old ladies selling CDs while you mock him with game knowledge. So good
In other words - Bubsy the Bobcat went home to "Grand-Grandfather". ACCOLADE who created Bubsy was founded by former ACTIVISION co-founders -who- was spawned from having worked for ATARI! So in other words, Bubsy came back to his grand family!
I totally agree with Ian on the streaming discussion. Back in the day, I bought seasons of shows that interested me and I was commited to watch them. Nowadays I watch no tv shows at all, because there is just to much content that has no value to me, because its all in the monthly subscription and I don't feel any kind of commitment anymore.
Ian, I've recently gotten back into RC myself. I came up with a sweet design that I've cadded that allows me to mount an FPV camera to the RC. Completely changes the experience and gives you a sweet view when taking those jumps. You should definitely try an FPV setup on your car. Thanks for the epic content btw, gents. Truly appreciated. 🎉
I definitely agree with Ian about buying a series on DvD vs streaming it. A streaming account feels like an obligation while a DVD collection, if buying the series in piece meal, feels like a treat
That's the smart thing to do with your phone Ian, keep it for several years until it really slows down. I do that too, I end up saving way more money over upgrading every few years.
Thats awesome to hear Ians into RC. I recently got back into it as an adult who can now afford all these awesome Tamiya RC kits I lusted over as a wee lad.
Maybe Project Q and merge with Intellivision Home and become the ultimate piece of hardware for bringing the family back together in the living room again!?
Regarding the streaming discussion, one advantage I think streaming has compared to cable is that the episodes could be as long or short as need be. If the show were to shift to cable, production would be more constrained by how they could format their episodes. The other advantage is that it gives production more flexibility with season length compared to cable which probably requires ~20 episodes/season.
Bubsy and such used to be owned by Atari, until they sold them off to companies like Tommo and Piko Interactive about 10 years ago. So, they're basically repurchasing properties they previously owned.
15 years ago, I hated having to pay for cable and get hundreds of channels I don't care about. Nowadays, I can pay for just Netflix and one floater streaming service. I'll have it for a few months, catch up on the interesting shows on that service, then move to the next one later. Unless you feel like it's necessary to watch every show when it's new, I think this is still way better. I pay like $30 where cable cost way more for a decent package.
iPhone 8 gang!! I also rode mine into the ground, such a great phone. I got a 13 a while back but I still miss the button and the 3D Touch. Ian’s got good taste
Interesting; right after the Khan musical segment, YT aired a Star Trek on Paramount + ad, as if they timed it to appear right after they covered something Star Trek
The PS5 sales are actually outpacing the PS4's during the same period (2 1/2 yrs). There was an article released by Game Rant just last month about it, so it's too early to suggest it won't be as successful if not more so than the PS4.
I wouldn't over react over Sony's new streaming device, Sony has a whole history of weird tech that is so niche it gets forgotten as it's launch.... and it's neat! "Oh wow, this TV, you can have two people play on different perspective." or "Oh wow, Mini discs" and even now going back to the PS3.... it has an awesome CD audio visualizer. OH SURE, NO ONE USES IT 15 YEARS LATER, but it's neat playing Weird Al greatest hits, and then it just zooms by.
@@KingKool2099 they go over it in this ep, but Amico sold off a few of its IPs to other platforms...the whole Amico home for phones, and just general tomfooelry/lies coming from the new CEO
Atari vcs has lots of games lately. It’s still a fun little platform. You can’t mention Atari acquiring all these games and not mention how Atari VcS’s library is expanding
Don't forget about The Simpsons. A lot of people subscribed to Disney Plus just to get the entire Simpsons back cataloger. Also, I think Willow will end up in a high capacity USB stick in the Disney vault, beside the frozen head of Walt Disney. .
Ian talking about how the people making Mortal Kombat have to be having a lot of fun, when a few years back the story running the news cycle was an artist claimed to have been diagnosed with PTSD from working on Mortal Kombat 11...
That was because they made them watch animals getting slaughtered as opposed to real people to get a sense of what gore should look like. But apparently it was like months of watching it all the time.
What's crazy about project q is that it doesn't sound like you can stream the old games if you have the higher tiers of ps+ Just the remote play stuff. At $150-200 maybe it sells decently. Any higher and you may as well just pay the extra for a switch or steam deck.
Can I hear an update on the Ebay space - I'm sorry I'm late to the party but I work in the coins/precious metals space and noticed one of your old videos discussing the bots - is there another place to sell that is populated/safe?
Right now...but look how the last of us 2 and resident evil 2 remake used the ps4s full potential towards the end...there hasn't been anything released yet to show the ps5s full potential...and probably won't until 2025 to 2026 when developers fully harness it.
@@billzco6137 At which point the next system will be in the pipeline. Wait for that, the 4’s library is deep enough, and just skip the nonessential sequel.

Bummed that there was never a physical release for Pac-Man 99. It's a fun game, and some of the single player themes were DEEP cuts; stuff that Bandai Namco had never even acknowledged for decades.
I like Bubsy but that's only because it gives me nostalgia for an Australian after school game show called A*Mazing. I'm pretty sure Nintendo was either running the show or the main sponsor and Bubsy was a game they would play as a challenge lol
Hum... the Mortal Kombat (and most fighting games) obsession with DLC is why I' never buy any of them till I can get everyone, and then I'm so not worried about it till there is a good sale since I've been waiting so long all ready, just like how I didn't get 11 till everything with aftermath came down to about 20 bucks.
I know that this is a a few months old but I just wanted to give my take on your point about streaming services. I dont think it would ever be possible for them to go back to any type of pre-streaming model, you can't unring that bell. Imo one of the biggest problems streaming services have is underestimating their biggest competitors which are, free platforms that are primarily ad driven. Quibi tried to address that but they failed because they applied old Hollywood ideas to a newer medium and it was a miss. I think the kind of sad reality is that people in my generation and the next have accepted much lower grade content, as long as it's free and constant. I think if Netflix disappeared tomorrow, most people under 30 would just lean into tiktok and youtube.
Hey Pat you should mention how the Quest 2 outsold both the XBOX S and X, since you love talking about VR honestly (seriously i get why you may not enjoy it but the weird vitriol from non VR users to any success the medium has is bizarre from my perspective). Also worth mentioning Beat-saber alone generated over 250 million in revenue
I think all these content generation companies like Disney, Warner, etc screwed up by trying to compete directly with Netflix and destroyed their business model when what they should have done is just jacked up the rates they charge streaming services for premium content. Also we're overdue for a new physical media for TV shows. I think there would be a market for a whole season of a show on something the size of a switch cartridge.
