- Award winning Producer Steve Lee Jones, Executive Producer Eric Weider, and Director George Gallo are bringing the remarkable story of Joe Weider to Hollywood. In 1964 ( I was 8) I mailed 10 cents to Joe Weider for his work out program. He could have easily sent me the program, instead he mailed my 10 cents back, and said I should wait a bit before I start working out with weights. I did wait, and while at the time I was disappointed, I learned a valuable lesson of integrity.
A man of integrity and wisdom. Fitness influencers of today will sell poison to toddlers if they could.
At least your 10 cents was returned. How much was the postage in 1964?

Bigger is a warm , heart touching movie. Thanks Joe, Ben & Betty ( I remember they would always have their photos in the editorial) . RIP.
*"..a warm , heart touching movie.."* That bears little resemblance to reality - just like all those airbrushed photos of Joe and Betty in his magazines and elsewhere. Funny they don't say anything about his getting spanked in court over his bullshit supplements.

When I acquired the first 5 Weider books for Contemporary Books in Chicago, Bill Reynolds was the editor of Muscle & Fitness magazine. He also ghost wrote all 5 books by Joe Weider. Bill was my point man, and one time on the phone, I imitated Joe Weider's voice, because I'd talked to Joe and heard him speak. Bill laughed. He said they all imitated Joe. I really enjoyed working with them and also with Franco and Anita Columbu on their books for Contemporary.
Very inspirational, Joe Weider a true legend for the iron sport. He is like a lighthouse to the modern bodybuilding fraternity

I LOVED THEM SINCE 9 years old....I took my Go- Kart with a motor Indian lawn mower engine tied to a wagon..
drove it to BEN WEIDER!!! Factory OVER THE TRACKS
(His staff who worked in the weight loading dock were mentally challenged which touched my heart later when I finally understood what a great human being the Weider family was..
I drove down Jean Talon passing The Greek village as the owner clapped his hands as I drove by I had $40 and I was going to Weider to get my weights.. Oh $40 was alot of money back then.
I parked in the back walked into the front what a display SOLID OLD SCHOOL WEIGHTS FROM THE PAST!!!

Very good, inspiring movie. Also want to note, that Joe Weider was Arnold Schwarzenegger's mentor and close friend. Arnold Schwarzenegger was Austrian and often accused of being anti-Semitic. Joe Weider was Jewish and openly Jewish. And if Arnold Schwarzenegger was anti-Semitic, he never would have had that kind of relationship with Joe Weider.

back in late 90s when i was interested in going to the gym after school with my school mates. we read body building magazines and saw joe weider. didn't really know who he was. my physical instructor told us to just eat whatever we can since we don't have the money to buy those expensive vitamins. lol
I'd like to see a shot of Joe Weider's wardrobe closet with his classic clothes of the 1970's the sweatsuits and his various suits and dress shirts, etc... if you guys remember the old Muscle & Fitness, and the older Muscle Builder magazines!!
