    This machine is amazing.
    There was one in our town at the end of last June when our overhead parking caved into our mall. Words cannot describe it's power, just awesome

    The reason they don't blow it up might be the high density of steel and the thickness of the walls. Regular buildings usually do not bear loads as Silos do. So they can be made to collapse. this Silo has no levels lie regular buildings do so that makes the drilling of holes for explosives more complicated.

    • @wyomins
      @wyomins 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      chorknator for a fraction of the cost of this thing, I'm sure they could easily just get more explosives to compensate for the thick walls.

    It just goes to show you how strong reinforced concrete is. Wrecking balls tend to get caught up into the the rebar thats tied together .

  • @MrSigDan

    Seems like the building was in the middle of no where. Some explosives and that job would have been done before the crane even showed up to assemble the CAT. Much cheaper.

    • @DREAMMACHINEShh
      @DREAMMACHINEShh  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      MrSigDan impossible to use explosives due to railroad tracks and buildings nearby!

    • @bretmuldner

      @FisheeC3 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +MrSigDan Building implosion prep can take anywhere from 4-20 weeks (not including clean up). Sure the implosion is over in seconds, but do you honestly think it took more time for the UHD to take this thing down? No.

    this building is heawy reinforced with steel: such built need a complicated blow process, i think it's much cheaper with the machine...

  • @davebainard8897
    @davebainard8897 11 ปีที่แล้ว +8

  • @lytken
    @lytken 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    awesome machine but would it not be better and cheaper to to implode the building

    • @samkom33
      @samkom33 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +lytken maybe, if you just wanted it down.... BUT that building is steel reinforced concrete. at least in norway we use the crushing jaws of the escavator to seperate steel and concrete.. blastng it might have brouht it down a bit, but you still had to use maskines to get the steel out of the concrete.

    • @lytken
      @lytken 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      that is true, and it is used all over the world for that, but from the tons of documentaries i have watch it would be better to blow it down and the steel is no problem ad all, and then use the jaws to separate the steel from the concrete after it has come down to ground level + i bet it would be faster, better, and cheaper for who ever pay for it :)

    • @samkom33
      @samkom33 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +lytken yes i have been using explosives on steel reinforsed concrete but to demolish a bigger building thats not heavy enough to crumble if you blast a few beams, you must use quite big amount of explosives + drill lots of holes. also in the video around 1:20 you see a church quite near the old factory they are demolishing. so my guess is that they arent allowd to use explosives ORE they are proud of their new maskine and want to demonstrate it. hehe

    I can't understand why they didn't blow that buliding to the ground instead, must be cheaper?

  • @2handsfull
    @2handsfull 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    A wrecking ball would have been 10 times faster and most likely 20 times cheaper. The cost and efficiency plus labor don't look good for this application and must have taken a few tokens from any profit. I think the only one walking away with a smile would be the operator!

    • @DREAMMACHINEShh
      @DREAMMACHINEShh  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +2hands full wrecking balls are not allowed in many countries due to safety reasons
