  • The Catholic Church uses two terms to distinguish between the individual judgment we all will receive at the end of our lives and the last judgment we all will experience at the end of the world:
Particular Judgment and Last (or Final) Judgment
Here is the meaning of each type of judgment:
    Particular Judgment
What happens to us after we die?
We will experience a particular judgment and our soul will either go to heaven (immediately or through purgatory) or hell.
Heaven is for those who die in a state of grace with a perfectly purified soul.
Purgatory purifies the soul of any attachment to the world.
Hell is the eternal separation from God for those who freely choose to deny God’s love.
While our soul moves on, our bodies remain on earth.
    Last Judgment
When the New Testament refers to judgment, it usually refers to the Second Coming of Christ when he will return to judge the living and the dead.
When Jesus Christ returns, our bodies and souls will be reunited in the resurrection of the dead. The Son of Man will return in glory with a host the angels of heaven. He will come to judge both the living and the dead.
Then the universe will be renewed with a new heaven and a new earth and God will dwell with us for eternity.
Only the Father knows when this will happen. It could be at any moment within our lifetime or many millennia from now.
Another way to understand the difference may be in referring to the particular judgment as the “private” judgment and the last judgment as the “public.”

That's great 👏 at first I new only about the particular judgement which we can see from the parable of The Rich Man and Lazarus. Must often I thought there will be nothing like the Last Judgement, that once you die and the particular judgement is passed by Jesus it is finished about judgement. And even now am still confused, Sir, please, can you throw more light about the last judgement ? 🙏🙏🙏🙏
