@@mec325 nope, we as Catholics can pray to our Lord Jesus Christ, we can pray 🙏 to Mary 🌷 our blessed Mother to intercede for us, we can pray to St Joseph. That is what is so wonderful and miraculous about our Faith.
I try to remember my sins and sometimes I do when I go to confession…my memory is not what it use to be…I pray Lord that before I die I will remember my sins in detail so I may make a complete confession…Lord Have Mercy🙏✝️🙏
If I may offer some consolation: It is understood that God, being love itself, will never allow someone who is truly devoted to Himself to perish in his sins. If we focus on loving God and doing our duties out of love for Him, then He will make sure that we have a good, happy, and holy death. Bad confessions are ones that are not properly prepared for, where people purposely leave out grave sins in name and/or in number. This does not apply to sins that were forgotten by a bad memory. God is not legalistic. On a practical note, when we pray the Rosary we are asking our Lady 153 times to help us now and at the hour of our death. Those rosaries add up. It is definitely good to meditate on our judgement and on death, especially if it edifies us. But it needs to be in context of how to properly prepare. Have loving devotion to God, our Lady, St Joseph, the angels and saints, and assist the poor holy souls. Love covers a multitude of sins. And loving those in Heaven, they will not be out done. For remembering them they will remember you in your time of need. I hope that helps offer some comfort. We can be confident in our salvation without presumption. God bless.
@@CatholicK5357 thank you for that explanation. It helped me also. We sometimes strive to make sure we are doing what is required and expected in our faith. And sometimes need to feel reassured along the way, that we are doing our best and all that we can. 🙏⬆️🕯️🕊️
Kitty, you sound very sincere . He knows your state in life and the desires of your heart. We need to Trust in His Divine Mercy and in His most Sacred Heart. Keith's comment below afore mentioned is that of the Lord's mercy and consolation and confidence in Him. 🙏⬆️🕯️🕊️
It makes me sad to hear this sermon, but its what we need: truth awakens the sorrow of folly. The Particular judgement shows that our lives are indebt to God because of his kindness to give us life to live for his sake. We become ungrateful and ignore any warning of judgement to live in our own reality outside of God’s presence.
What I dont understand is the eternal judgement and damnation for a really short time on earth. You have just a very short time to prove yourself and then get an eternal punishment for it? I thought theres justice , no?
@@mec325 I get that evil requires punishment. Im talking about eternal punishment eternal suffering, and accoring to many Saints, one out of hundred thousand make it to heaven so the vast majority is damned, but can they really be all so evil?
@@vennue9958 yeah but just because the gate is narrow and hard, doesnt mean, that people cannot get cleansed or drilled in order for them to get there. Like you could take a hard exam for example, with enough training and studyiing everyone could make, it, maybe someone need 2 months of preparation, someone needs 2 years, the exam is still very hard, but we push them all through, just everyone has to pay a different price. know what I mean?
Our souls are immortal. That means our decisions in the end have eternal consequences. Unlike the angels we humans often sin out of ignorance, and that is why God gives us a lifetime to seek Him and prove that we are not obstinate in our sins. But if we instead use that time to prove that we are obstinate, then it is actually merciful for life to be short - since every sin must be accounted for. Purgatory exists for those who die in God's friendship but who have not made proper restitution for their sins, so that they can be purged and go to Heaven. But there must be a place for those souls who eternally reject God's grace. God gives everyone enough graces to get to Heaven, and He wishes for all to be saved. Mercy is the higher form of judgement, but true mercy requires that the person recognize his faults and ask for help. In other words, forgiveness is freely offered but can only be accepted by those who think they need it. I think a perfect example is the two thieves on the Cross. One recognized his sins in the end and chose to give love to God. The other, even when he knew he was going to die within hours, chose to spend that time cursing God and sinning all the more. We don't have to understand God's justice and mercy. But He is just and merciful. When we accept that, then we realize that we can trust Him. Hell is full of people who wish to blame everyone else, including God. But when we blame ourselves before God, it is freeing and humbling. I hope that that helps. One last thing to point out is that many Angels fell from Heaven. They made that choice in full knowledge of rejecting God. If even Angels could do so, then certainly we have to accept that there are people who would reject God as well.
@@CatholicK5357 what does it even mean to reject God? I dont understand this. Who wants to go to hell? Why would anyone reject him? Most people as you said sin out of ignorance or because of insincts like lust etc. What "Works" do we have to do ? If he payed the price for our sins, why do sinners go to hell? We are all sinners, so whats the point of life anyways?

Who gave this homily?
Does anyone by chance know the hymn during the "Pray Benedictus?"
Christian vincint, Christus regant, Christus Imperate. It’s a hymn with just those words. It’s simple but sublime
