    Yep after watching you do it, my thought is 'Get somebody else to do it' hahahaaha. You are strong and brave and do this very well. I am more lazy and the seemingly endless sewing would break my brain. You keep the crown and hold your flowers and a round of applause xxx

    Sooo pretty and dreamy!! As soon as I have time for a longer project I will try one! Just so that I understand correctly: even for the longer dresses you only gather the first two tiers? I love the amount of fluffiness!

    • @fromcarlyb
      @fromcarlyb  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oooh sounds great!! I do only gather the first two tiers - but they are very gathered (about 25m in length minimum) by the end of the second tier!

  • @TeaCupCracked
    @TeaCupCracked ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I never thought of gathering the higher tiers of a garment but then not gathering the lower tiers as a way to control volume! I really like it! I'm going to try it the next time volume control comes up; it means you get all the poof but don't have to do as much math/as much gathering (hand-gathering more then a tier or so gets tiring very quickly and I like the almost "set it and forget it" vibe here where you do that step early on in construction and then not continue to worry about it as you go). It gives such a nice, soft ripple effect as the material drapes; I bet on cotton lawn (tissue-thin cotton) this could be really nice too.

    • @fromcarlyb
      @fromcarlyb  ปีที่แล้ว

      It only came to me as I realized how gathered the dress would be if I continued gathering each tier !! It's a pretty enjoyable process for sure though. I think a Cotton Lawn would be lovely as well !

    Super nice tutorial! I just don’t really get how long the first two tiers are. You only said something about 20-25 meters for the second one?
    I need to recreate this! 😍

    • @fromcarlyb
      @fromcarlyb  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for watching! Oh yep sorry about the confusion. The top two tiers are really up to personal preference depending on how gathered you like your skirts to look. I never fully measured them out but I would probably start at 25m & divide that by 2 (12.5m) and use that measurement for the second tier... and then divide that by 1.5 (about 8) and use that for the top tier! It's totally up to you though!

  • @jacquelineblack2209
    @jacquelineblack2209 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love this, thank you. Your instructions are super clear 😊 Do the lengths of tulle get progressively longer for each tier? Assume the gathered tiers take more tulle than the non gathered ❤

    • @fromcarlyb
      @fromcarlyb  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm so glad it makes sense! The first two tiers are gathered and thus get longer, but the third tier & below are all the same length and are ungathered.

  • @miajuul120
    @miajuul120 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So beautiful! So if I wanted to make it in tea length or maxi length, would I just continue with ungathered tiers, or do more gathered tiers along the way? :)
