      @@sean70729 LG is very innovative. Unfortunately, they were not as determined (and incentivized) to see their innovations through so they were always trying new shit without refining them with better iterations of the same idea as samsung has been able to do with the z flip. samsung unfortunately is just a much bigger player that they can afford to lose some money on pursuing innovation in the long term.

      Not all. Samsung originally had prototypes for both kinds of foldable phone (out and in) but as we can see the Fold S only folds in. They will also just pick one version of the prototypes being displayed here when they decide to go with multifolds.

      I mean, they did fail some promises, especially with the Note 7, Galaxy Homepods (hubs? It's vaporware at this point), the first gen Fold 1 where dust got into the middle of the screen
      But yeah, I'm confident Samsung will be the first ones out there to bring something decent to the market when they feel it's ready.

      pair the "laptop" with a case that allows it to stand up, a thin keyboard and mouse and you have a massive aio that you can take with you.

    I think they are focusing too much on foldables, but they have too many downsides. The plastic screen is a big problem, as it scratches easier and feels cheaper. Also, no matter what they do, it has a much higher risk of being damaged by water and dust, and they cost a ton. They shouldn't keep focusing on folds/rollables in my opinion.

      I've beat up both my Z Fold 2 and Z Fold 3 and not a scratch on it. Samsung made the Z Fold glass more durable. Of course proper precautions such as a case and screen protectors contribute to my phone not having a scratch on it but I've dropped them, bumped into things and unknowingly put objects in the same pocket as the Fold and it has held up just fine. Now your argument would have more clout if you referred to the first iterations of the Fold and Z Flips. Went through 2 original Z Flips when the middle crease cracked on me but after the 2nd Z Fold glass upgrade I was confident in Samsung addressing this issue. Ok rant over.

    The device folding in on itself looks fantastic. Obviously they are working to minimize the "folds" and creases that appear but it's a great way to carry a larger-sized screen device without the footprint of such. Some of those look very tempting indeed!

    I'm not a big fan of these, but a 'menu-folding' smart phone that becomes a tablet seems to have the most all around practical value. You're going to have a phone with you all the time. If you can occasionally expand it into a tablet, then you no longer need a second device.
    Add a wireless keyboard/mouse, and you can eliminate a third device (assuming you don't have special software requirements).

  • @dassnaf1

    Even when I like the concept of a rolling screen, I can't stop thinking, that you would have the same usability experience but without any durability issues, if you design a phone just like the earlier phones with slidable fullsize keyboards but instead having a second screen. With a clever designed hinge you would even be able to have the two screens even and with the upper display folding around the corner you wouldn't even have a black bar between the two displays. 🤔

  • @iCortex1
    @iCortex1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the flex note is a great idea that might just really work !! A lot of people already use bluetooth keyboards instead of the included keyboard with their current laptop, and the crease in the middle isn't much of a problem because you have a bezel there already on current laptops. I would get one in the future if they improve on it !

  • @jdoshow78

    All looks cool, and high tech. Beautiful stuff. One thing I did notice though is the rollable one only looked like it pretty much added an edge screen with additional apps. The screen seemed to come out from underneath the main screen in stead of the screen itself extending out or stretching. Idk. Just a small observation. Maybe the final product will be different when the time comes.
